I recently moved to Dacula and now this park is 5 min away from me and I absolutely love it! There's four entrances to Little Mulberry, but I only use the Fence Rd, and the Hog Mountain Rd entrances. Because I live so close to the Fence Rd entrance I didn't realize how big this park is. About 15 miles pf trails. Once I took Hog Mountain Rd is when I realize how pretty it is, and how much stuff there is to do around. There are playgrounds, grills, picnic tables, a fishing lake, lake & lakeviews, and Karina Miller Nature Preserve is also located in the middle of the park and it's so pretty! I love outdoors and having this park so close to me has changed my lifestyle. Definitely visit it if you're in the area! Well, I suppose I've had mixed emotions about the park. I've been a faithful and responsible visitor for many years now. The government shutting things down caused people to flock to the park... effectively ruining the park experience. But, this hasn't been the fault of the people. After all, they most likely pay taxes too. That said, the park is the best around here by far. read more

Ordinarily, I'm pretty down on paved hiking trails. But Little Mulberry is such a great park that I can overlook the concrete that comprises most of the length of the prime trail. For some reason, I had trouble finding this place. On the first attempt, I overshot by miles and ended up deciding to visit Ft. Yargo State Park instead. This time I pulled over twice to confirm directions and still overshot. I was determined and made it anyway. I blame my car for not knowing where it was going. This review is for the hiking trails. As this is a multi-use park, it offers plenty of non-hiking stuff, too. There's a lot of open, wide walking paths here - perfect for exercise and casual strolls. Parking in the south lot gives you easy access to the pond loop and the meadow paths. Both are very nice. If you walk up the meadow path clockwise, you'll encounter the trailhead for the ravine trail off to the west. There's an arch marking the entrance. The trail exits back to the meadow path a short ways up from there, also marked by an arch. Under the arch, you'll find a trail map that is a bit out of date. It doesn't show the addition of the woodland trail which loops off the ravine. No matter - the maps at the various trail intersection do show the woodland. As I mentioned, the ravine is mostly concrete - a well constructed, six-foot wide path offering ideal footing. It's a fairly easy hike with some elevation change. Down where the trail follows the ravine itself, the path transitions to a non-paved, but still pretty smooth surface. Not far from the trailhead, do keep an eye out for the large oak tree. Its on the maps but unmarked on the trail. It's an impressive specimen and not hard to pick out. The woodland is a dirt trail that peels off the ravine trail and loops back to join the ravine after a mile or so. Very good hiking here. There's actually a 'shortcut' path some ways along the trail. I wanted tp hike it all, so I took the shortcut, looped back the other way on the main woodland loop and walked the shortcut again. The woodland trail also goes past quite a few of the stacked stone mounds. These are pretty interesting. If you go off-trail to see them up close, I recommend spraying bug repellent on your shoes and lower legs to ward off the chiggers and ticks which lurk in the forest. Take the beech tree path back to the meadow path. It's a bit of work as its uphill. As a bonus, I encountered a box turtle crossing the path that kindly allowed some photography. Back on the meadow path, in the center of the west loop is an 'observation' area. Basically just the high point of the hill with good views. The observation area is in the middle of a large grassy field. Several mown walking paths allow access. You'll find a paved-stone circle with low walls to sit on and a few picnic table in the surrounding field. All very nice. I walked a fair distance around the park on other paths. I do like the general ambiance of the place. Unlike the last Gwinnett County park I visited (Yellow River), Little Mulberry is almost pristine. Very little trash. But to maintain that condition, the county feels it must employ landscapers that are way too liberal with gas-powered blowers. I saw a guy blowing the parking lot even though there was nothing to blow, and he continued along the already clean paths around the pavilion and playground. I understand that blowers ease the job and are therefore cost-effective, but can we all agree that if the area doesn't need to be blown then the workers should refrain from doing so? Those things are irritating and bad for the environment. A final note: I like how the ravine trail intersections have maps. If you have choices on where to go, it helps to have a visual aid. But these maps have a head-shaking flaw. The 'You are here' stickers on each map are laughable - they have no pointers or arrows indicating where you are! The stickers are added to the surface of the maps themselves. Maybe some practical joker removed the arrow stickers? read more

This is a great park with paved trails and paths that lead from the Dacula side to Auburn, beautiful lake, mile markers, horse trails, plenty of wildlife, picnic tables- a great place to spend the day. Whether you are walking, running or biking, this is hidden gem back behind Hamilton Mill and great family place where you can get together for a hike or bring a lunch and enjoy the ducks and and scenery. Nice scenery. Lots of good views in the park. The trails takes you through the woods and around the lake. There are a couple spots to fish just look for the signs. Benches at every few meters along the trail. Runners, joggers, cyclists, pretty much most aerobic activities like that are good for the trail. Also a few grilling spots for a cook out are located throughout the park. There is a playground as well near the entrance. Restrooms are located at each of the park entrances. This is a really nice park overall. It's well taken care if and is welcoming to everyone for all sorts of activities and occasions. read more

I love taking my grandchildren here. We always have a good time and there is always a bunch of kiddos there for them to play with. I see a lot of dogs being walked on leashes and the owners are always attentive to make sure they aren't too close to the kids. Its a nice atmosphere when you want to get out and about! read more

This park is gorgeous. I've been the last 4 days and I usually walk the lake which is 2.2 miles I believe. I usually walk it 2 times which is an hour for me and today I did it 3 times. I love when you're getting to the spot where it's an open area for like 10-15 min before going into the clearing. Saw two deers today which was really cool because I'm from Florida and we don't have them just roaming in our parks. The earlier you get there the better because less people and dogs. read more

Last time I went to Little Mulberry Park was when it first open but I only went for my friend's daughter's first birthday so I didn't get to explore the park much. She is 7 now. Now many years later, I am back. I met my SIL and her kids. I wanted to see my cute nephew and niece. She tells me there is a playground area that is new, just built last year with a paved trail around the lake where the geese are. Because we had the little kids (ages 2 and 4) with us, I couldn't explore the "real" trails. I want to do it next time. From what I get from reading the reviews, it is scenic and I can see waterfalls. I have an obsession with waterfalls so I will be down to come back and check them out. 2017 Review #20 read more

I never need a reason to go to a park, so when a friend asked me to go to Little Mulberry over another local park after lunch, I was already in Right off the bat, I knew i'd have to visit Little Mulberry again because there's several trails, both paved and natural, that run several miles each, including the following trails: Miller Loop Trail - 2.2 mi East Mulberry Trail - 5.47 mi Carriage Trail - 0.66 mi East Meadow Trail - 1 mi West Meadow Trail - 1 mi Pond Trail - 0.66 mi Ravine Loop Trail - 2.16 mi Woodland Trail - 1.04 mi Today, we took the East and west meadow trails, which is a paved multi purpose trail in parts. There are some areas where bikers are not allowed due to the deep hills and narrow paved trails, which is almost necessary on a crowded trail, but no matter how you travel, you'll get a good exercise! The Meadow trail snakes its way through forest area, hugs a creek bed for a time (that i've been told has running water during non-drought conditions) and forks off from time to time to get closer looks at points of interests like waterfalls, etc. In terms of difficulty, the meadow trail is a what goes down must go up trail, so you'll have a wonderful time going down, enjoying nature, and listening to the bubbling brook, but then you'll turn a corner and see never ending hills, that can be steep. Take your time here, sit if you must, but just know there will be some huffing and puffing from time to time. Upon finishing the trail, take a quick walk to the grassy area directly in front of you (you'll see a mowed path) so that you can take a walk to the highest point of Gwinnett County. This is noted with a stone ring with North/South signs carved into the stone, and it's been said you can see into multiple counties. Located off of Fence road, parking under normal circumstances isn't difficult, but on this day, there was a 5k race beginning, and both the paved and grass overflow lot were full, so depending on what's going on determines how likely it is for you to find a spot. I'll 100% be updating my review, because I only saw a fraction of the park and never got a chance to see the lake. Updated Review #12,237! This is my park, has been my go to park since they day it opened. I must say this post is more of a gripe fest toward Gwinnett County versus the park in general. Mulberry Park was the torch bearer for nature, the trails, the views, the wildlife, and the family friendly environment. Fast forward to today, we all know that outside of our county government being about as crooked as a dogs hind leg, they are about as in the bag with developers as one can get. So with this welcome to the "New" Mulberry Park! Soon to be surrounded border to border with 500+ new homes slapped right against the property line! Yes, lovely nail gun specials on postage stamp lots complete with a new lovely path to the back Trail area. Yes, you can now walk the back trails and have a lovely view of asphalt, erosion paper, outside latrines, and dust bombs! The deer, the view, the peace and quiet is now a memory. The best part of this is not one foot has parking been extended to handle the new crowds, the entry way from Fence Road? Well folks, it's still the same old farm road with not one ounce of improvement on the horizon, so enjoy trying to get in or out of the park once this cluster is in place. Then again, since Gwinnett loves developers who place their entrances on blind curves like this one and yes even the new Wildflower extension on 324, maybe you can make it to to the park without being T-Boned. I've never really been a fan of health clubs. Amongst all the shiny metal, ceiling fans, plethora of TV's and windowless walls is a musty sense of commercialism. There's no doubt you can do good things for your body in these man made facilities with their sculpted trainers and Zumba classes, but something about these places just isn't fulfilling.... at least not to me. If you are looking for a more peaceful and wallet friendly way to achieve your health goals, let me introduce you to Little Mulberry Park. Over the next few weeks I will highlight ALL of it's incredible trails for a variety of workouts. Let's begin with two of my favorites: INTRODUCTION TO MILLER LAKE/CARRIAGE TRAIL Running , walking or hiking in Little Mulberry Park is an entirely different experience than what you will find in any gym. Today was a particularly good day. The air had a slightly crisp coolness to it that helps not feel overheated during a rigorous run. This park is HUGE and allows you to connect with nature on a variety of trails. Miller Trail is probably the most populated of all the trails and for good reason. The gentle rise and fall of it's elevation changes are centered around a fabulous lake that is home to a variety of wildlife and plants. Even when the crowds swell, there is a peace that always remains along the 2.2 mile loop as you greet everyone from the dedicated athlete to the elderly couples, mom brigades, bikers and lets not forget the variety of fuzzy four legged cuties you see walking their owners. It is my favorite trail for distance training, but I like to add a little flavor by combining it with the Carriage Trail for an awesome workout! You'll find the connector to this trail around the 1.2 mile mark (if you go left on the Miller Lake trail) or around the 1 mile mark if you go right. It's only .66 miles long, but it's ALL uphill and makes for one intense workout, especially if you can run the entire hill (which I can not... yet). So it's a pleasant treat when you happen to be in the park after a week of significant rainfall, like today. One of the falls is located along the initial incline of the Carriage trail. This trail is not as popular due to it's severe elevation change, but the lack of crowds making it easy to hear the sounds of the waterfall, squirrels rustling about in the fallen leaves and birds singing above. What a gem of a park! Tons of parking, clean bathrooms (for a park), and lots of gorgeous trails of every type of cover (paved, bark, gravel, etc) and elevation. We did the 2.2 mile loop around the lake, which on its own, would be a nice workout when done at a brisk pace. But Richard also convinced us to try the .66 mile (NOT .5) misery trail. This of course is not this side trail's actual name, but it's how it made my legs feel as I gasped for air as we essentially vertically scaled a steep hill. Thankfully, there was a scenic waterfall to the side that helped distract from the burning. However, I will say that after we finished out loop around the lake with the add-on (took about an hour total), my sweaty self was about to dock this park a star for having a non-functioning water fountain. This was almost worse than having no water fountain at all, because it was like it was taunting you. All kidding aside, this park really is beautiful, I do fully intend on returning once there are some leaves on the trees and maybe some spring flowers. I've run 5Ks at Little Mulberry Park before but only now have come for a more leisurely stroll around the (HUGE!) property. What else can I say but wow. Without sounding cheesy, there were moments on the trail where I felt like I was at Animal Kingdom at Disney World, without shrieking tourists and attractions - the quiet, scenic "safari-inspired" areas. Swaying grass, hills, and solitude. Even when a bike whizzes by or a group of chatty strollers passes, it still feels just peaceful. Parking is ample, the facilities (pavilions, benches, playground, restrooms) are clean, and the trails are varied from newbie to huff'n'puff sloped and challenging. read more

I like Little Mulberry Park because it's attractive, peaceful, right by the water, and has various trails. But the only thing that I don't like is that more than just a few people let their dogs poop on the trail and then don't even bother to clean it up. I'm not talking about the poop in the grassy areas. I'm taking about dog poop on the trails that I have to navigate around. Sometimes I have my four-year-old-grandchild with me, and I have to constantly warm him to be on the lookout for poop. I thought because the neighborhood was nice, people would have enough consideration and common sense to pick up their dog's poop and not leave it for others to navigate around . I won't let that poop steal my peace, but what humans do and don't do never ceases to surprise me! Plus the park supplies little bags for picking up your dog poop. read more
