I took my 4 year old daughter for a "free swim eval," and she was taken under water 3 times. By the fourth time, she was visibly upset. She told them she didn't want to go under water, and they picked her up and forced her to go under again. She came up crying uncontrollably, and I went to comfort her. I was told parents were not allowed in the swim area. I told the instructor I came to comfort her, and he repeated I wasn't allowed in that area. I picked up my daughter and left the area. She never wants to go back. I was hoping for a fun swim experience, and we got the opposite!! I'm so angry!! read more

I cannot speak highly enough of Coach Khalyn! My daughter, Zurah, is very sensitive and not very happy in the water without me or her family, but Coach Khalyn has shown incredible patience, kindness, and understanding in working with her. He has created a safe and supportive environment where she feels encouraged to face her fears. His gentle approach and sweet demeanor have been a game-changer for her swimming journey. What's even more impressive is how Coach Khalyn handles every child in his classes. I have even more new found respect for him - here is why: I had the privilege of witnessing him in action with a particularly challenging student, and the way he remained calm, composed, and dedicated was nothing short of heroic. It's clear that he goes above and beyond for all his students, meeting them where they are and helping them grow in confidence and ability. Coach Khalyn's passion for teaching and his genuine care for the kids he works with shine through in everything he does. He truly is an incredible coach, and I have so much respect for the effort and heart he pours into every lesson. This location allowed my card to be fraudulently charged, and then were rude and unhelpful when I called to enquire about the charge added. Their security policies fall short which means you can walk up to their counter, give a name or a phone number and charge that account with no problems. When faced with a fraudulent charge being made, there was no plan, "call your bank, this is a valid charge for us". Very concerning. read more

I watched my daughter start lessons in a level 3 at 3 years old and is now 6 years old in a level 5. We have been on and off of lessons for 3 years now & there were definitely tears the first 6 months and even the first few lessons in her level 4. It's been amazing to see my daughter be able to swim the length of a pool and dive for rings from the bottom by herself. We were charged a fee that we were not aware of. They called it a YEARLY registration fee. but This was not at year from our registration but the first of the year when they were closed and canceled classes. which I find very strange to charge a yearly fee twice inside 12 months of enrolment. They offered zero recourse. They just said they would keep my money charge me for another month and then cancel my child's membership. Be wary and read your agreement thoroughly. I'm extremely heartbroken with Aqua-Tots. Coming to swim here is what my daughters look forward to every Tuesday but after today we have decided to take our business somewhere else. Please have caution with this instructor(Jade). This instructor was so abusive with my 3yr old and when I went to talk to the manager in the back she was far from being apologetic, instead she defended the instructors actions with her being "passionate". This is a 3yr old trying to learn how to swim not getting prepared for a competition! After talking to her she went in the pool area to prep the instructor on what just happened. When we talked to the instructor after, all she had to say was really slick crap. We are beyond heart broken because my daughter had just taken a picture with her progress chart right before starting class and she was so proud of herself just to get yelled at and completely man handled by this "passionate" (no! It's abuse) instructor. I keep looking at my baby and I'm on the verge of tears! Why would a company allow this, let alone unapologetically defend this person. Every Tuesday they would have their bathing suites picked out because swimming class is their favorite thing to do but not at Aqua-Tots any more. This place is great for teaching your little (sometimes big) ones how to swim. My son loves coming here, and they have done an excellent job teaching him to swim. He use to be afraid of swimming before we came here, but now he is addicted to swimming. The staff is really nice, and is always welcoming when you walk in. They are patient with the kids and are always willing to answer questions from the parents. If you want your kids to learn in a fun environment and be confident with their swimming, you should give this place a shot. read more

I'm shocked a business can stay operational running the way this did. Even for a first class, no explanation given, no intro to the teacher, they just yank them away & then you better pray your kid can trust a complete stranger in the water. Because even toddler level classes don't allow parents anywhere near the pool let alone inside it. Oh and no to mention the pool was FILTHY - my daughter got an ear infection from the water the following day. And the towel we dried her off with smells like an old man's locker room - even with all the chlorine it can't mask how dirty the water was. We started my 10 month old in the level 1 class on Saturdays and it was pretty busy and we got a different instructor every time. We did a make up class on a Wednesday and decided to switch permanently to that class since we were the only ones there. Coach Bethanie is AMAZING! She patient considerate and has great energy. My little one loves his swim class now. So glad we made the switch. read more

I wish I would have written this review sooner as it could have maybe prevented other kids from getting traumatized or worse. I saw another mom post about a similar experience on FB and it made me realize I need to share our experience with this swim school. I took our 5 year old son at the time there last summer for a trial swim class and they continued dunking him in the water even after he was obviously distressed and crying. I tried to go in to get him but they have a large glass windows that keep parent separated and I was told "he'll be fine". Since it was his 1st class I honestly didn't know what expect and wish I had trusted my instincts and went in to get him. I had no idea that their approach is to dunk kids in the water repeatedly on 1st lesson and continue to dunk them even if they are obviously distressed. Well ever since that class my son my son has had fear of going into any "big pool." I have slowly been working with him to regain trust in the big pool and we have to tell him that we will not be dunking him in the water until he is ready. After class I asked the young swim teacher why he kept dunking him even though he was crying and distressed and he was like that's what we teach in first class. He had no actual regard for what was actually happening. Just following a routine. The swim teacher was probably 17-18 if that. Maybe they need better training? I should have known better but I thought I was doing something good for our son and getting him swim lessons. The next day I had to take our son to the pediatrician to make sure he was ok because he was coughing a lot since he had obviously swallowed water while being dunked over and over without really being prepared for it. I get the dunking may be there method at this swim school but my thought is if you see a child obviously distressed and you know its his 1st class why not allow him to sit back and observe versus continuing to dunk him? I wish I could take that day back especially for my son who became traumatized with large pools after that day but I can't. All I can do is write a review that hopefully helps another parent. read more

Awful swim school! Terrible customer service and way over priced for what you get. Signed our 3 yr old up for swim lessons and in several of the 30 minute blocks I had to notify management that my kid was just sitting there while the one instructor assigned to 3 kids, was trying to calm another kid who was crying. My kid got bored so she started playing with a water toy. In the 30 minute lesson she floated on her back twice for about 10 seconds. This happened on several occasions where I had to speak to management. One particular time the manager had to go speak to the instructor to start paying attention to my kid. We cancelled our membership with several lessons left and will never go back there. Absolute terrible swim school! read more

Poor management and disrespectful. Its a scam in the name of make up classes. Make up classes doesn't give progress to the kid. I singed up my kid in the month of October 2022 in a monthly plan assuming the same coach for every schedule class for a month. Aqua tot keep changing the coaches every class saying she/he left the Aqua tot. Coach is busy in another activity . In January they closed the aqua tot mentioning gas leak.They gave the classes as make up classes can be used. After using the classes they are not showing up in the progress card , when i checked we will check with regular coach and update . This continued for a while showing no progress in the card . I decided to verify and make sure they maintain the progress in the system and the in the cards. They started blaming that i used different coach for the make up classes so they are not countable and no progress will be registered . Its been 9 months they keep saying this and when raise my voice they threaten me call police and leave the campus. I myself called police i explained the situation police is not helpful as this a civil case and when i asked for the make up classes to book with same coach they are not doing that and not refunding either .Instead Management says i cannot come to the campus. Because their scam is unfolded now And the police also says to take their operations manager contact deal with them either through mail or contact. read more

We started taking our oldest son here when he was 6mo old. He is 2 y/o now and he is confident and happy in the water. The curriculum they use is amazing and the coaches are patient and understanding - even when there are tears. The facility is clean, the people are friendly, and the pool is nice and warm, which is great for year-around lessons. We love it! read more

We love Aqua Tots! We have been coming here for two years now since my youngest was in the baby class where he cried every class and every time we went under water. He is now jumping in, getting the ring at the bottom of the pool and working his way to the next level! My 5 year old was deathly afraid of the water and going under for a long time and he is now swimming and jumping and floating on his back! We especially love coach Mia as she got us through some tough moments when they both were scared to go under water. We're a couple lessons in and very happy so far. My daughter is an extremely reluctant swimmer and she's making progress every lesson and excited to go to class. The instructors make it fun and push the kids to advance. I really like the waiting area for parents, air conditioned and comfy chairs with wi fi. I like that they're keeping masks and social distancing for time being. Update: my daughter is swimming! She's 6 so it's been a long time in the making but a few lessons in with her amazing coach and she is swimming. I'm ecstatic. Can't wait to start my youngest here in the fall. read more

We've had two instructors leave within 6 weeks of one another. My son is only 2 and a half and will not just go with anyone to a swim lesson. I paid for the full month of October and wasn't even given 48 hours notice of yet another instructor leaving. We have not been to one class in October and still have some makeup classes from the previous month due to the previous instructor leaving as well. I requested a refund as I canceled within one day of the notice period and given the difficult situation of high staff turn over I thought Aqua-Tots would understand. But no. They keep that money even though they've created a situation where my son refuses to go to class. I was told that high staff turnover is not their issue. Swimming - especially for little kiddos is based on trust. How can they trust someone if there isn't any consistency? Little ones (or most of them) also have a hard time leaving mom or dad and going with someone else. It makes it even harder when it's a new face every few weeks. It's really sad as I would have been a return customer and continued to pay for many more months once my son is ready again and there is a bit more consistency but because my account was treated so poorly and basically told that this is all my problem, I won't be returning and will be finding swim classes elsewhere. read more

I paid for classes and was very pregnant at the time. I was told that any classes missed my son could makeup no problem. When I tried to do so I was told that I couldn't use the classes I paid for that I would have to have my son enrolled and pay additionally to use something I already paid for. This was never told to me. In fact I asked multiple times if we would have any issues scheduling our makeups and I was told no. After speaking with someone on the phone I was told that they held his "spot" in the class as a courtesy. When in fact I paid for them and at the time was assure I could use them whenever no problem. This was not the case today when I inquired to use something I paid in full for. I would never do business with a place that tells me I can't use the lessons I paid for. read more

This doesn't make any sense!! I have my kid enrolled for 1:1 private class and she started doing her classes since two months. She loves going in there and moreover loves her swim Instructor a lot. So my one star is for it. The thing which did not make any sense to us is, the illogical management rules. There were two instances where instructor is not available for the class time, the electricity failure on one day for which they have cancelled the class. And then two other instance is where public holidays have happen to fall on class day. So for these four instances, my kid couldn't have a class. When enquired about the makeup classes, the management responded back saying that they can do the makeup class in a non-private class, along with other students. This did not make sense as it defeats our purpose of having our kid enrolled in private class for 1:1 attention. And this is not done, the most ridiculous thing is that, though it is a miss (not conducting class) on their end, they still want to charge us the 1:1 private class fees. How can they charge for something which never provided services for.. what logic or kind of management rules are these??? Total bullshit. Talking to branch manager,she says that these are rules that you signed up for. There are 'n' pages of content that we are asked to sign during enrollment and none of the management team highlighted it for us. So these are hidden illogical rules that come back to bite us on the customer's wallet. Now am considering to end our membership here and also spread the word with my network of friends on how BS the rule are setup. Total insensible.. We've had swim lessons at pretty much every place in town: Nitro, Y, Emler and Waterloo so I know what I like and don't like. I've never had a company be so flexible and easy to work with. They allow make ups and have allowed me to easily switch classes when something isn't working. Just an awesome group of people. Emily, the manager, is fantastic and I especially like the teacher, Ivan, who has more than 20 years teaching experience. Just a great experience overall. The facility is smaller and quieter which I love. I find the hub bub and parking situation at Nitro to be a nightmare. I liked Emler but they don't allow free makeups and this location is super convenient for me. read more

We have been blown away with the staff at the cedar park location! They are always friendly and willing to help us manage scheduling issues. They are also great at assessing each individual child's needs! My daughter came on her first day being afraid to take off her puddle jumper and in less than a month she now refuses to put it on bc she loves to swim "like a big kid" and the best part is she can swim like a big kid. I have only been once but my son ( 11 months) had an absolute blast! The instructor knew her stuff and had my child splashing and splashing the whole time! He even went full submersion the first day! To be fair... He is obsessed with water. The One thing that is kinda a bummer is they will not allow your child to move up a level until they are 2 years of age. Even if the child is ready. I know my son will be so I may have to find a different place in a few months so he can learn new things and learn to swim faster, but for now... He is loving it :) read more

This is a hard review to write. In the past, this would have easily been a 5 star review, but there have been some changes lately that have me a bit unsettled. I'm still rating Aqua Tots as 3 stars though because, at the end of the day, the program is successful. The one true bright spot there is Coach Alicia. I cannot say enough good things about how amazing she has been for both of my children! My son has absolutely blossomed under her instruction. She has instilled in him a true love of swimming and tons of confidence in his abilities. I truly hope things turn around at this location because I'd really hate to watch it go downhill. read more

We took our newly 4 year old and signed her up for a Fast Track session. She learned a lot in the 2 weeks and absolutely adored her swim instructor, Mr. Chance. As a mom, I loved watching her learn and smile ear to ear with her instructor from behind the glass. I would highly recommend this place for young kids learning to swim. This is really like a 3.5 review. The school is fine, my son is doing well. But what really bothers me is when they voluntarily close the school for holidays and such, instead of reimbursing the customer, they provide a make up class. I now have 3 make up classes in my account. Its really hard to find the time to come once a week, let alone an additional class to do a make up. Especially considering both my husband and I work full time so all of those morning and afternoon classes they have available are worthless. read more
