Cat Hollow Pool is like the San Antonio Spurs of neighborhood pools. It's not the newest or the flashiest pool. It's just a damn good pool. Cat Hollow Pool has clean cool water. It's not dirty or over-chemed. It is seldom over-crowded. The grounds are well-maintained. Open hours are very generous (open until 9 pm almost every night), and the pool is well-staffed with a crew of lifeguards. My toddler enjoys the shaded kiddie area, and my little guys enjoy the deeper sections and small water slides. The annual pass for a family is a bargain, Perhaps it would be nice if Cat Hollow had a bigger, windier water slide or a zero-entry pool for the kids. Maybe a few more splash pad features or a reliable snack and drink machine would be cool. That said, as far as water-filled holes in the ground go, this one is pretty darn good.

Not sure if the homeowners will see this post but as the Mimi of a 10 yr. old (that has been with the team since she was 5) I wanted to issue a personal thank you I hope the relationship continues for many years to come! I need to mention the actual neighborhood. Rarely have I toured a neighborhood where it's hard to find a visible mix of homes where the owners aren't fond of yard work and it shows. Or even though there is an HOA -owners are frequently allowed to break the rules. Not here at Sendero Springs. No unsightly anything!!! So first of all, there are 4 larger water slides. And probably 3 or so smaller ones. They have a total of 2 lifeguards on watch. One lifeguard sits at a chair "watching over" the smaller, right side of the park. And the other one switching between the top of the larger water slides every so often depending on which is busier. There are multiple lifeguards but only 2 out on the park floor at a time, all very young teenagers. Not a single adult working there. I think that is a huge problem in itself but let me go on. I watched my 4 yr old like a hawk the whole time we were there because the lifeguards obviously weren't paying attention, lots of older kids running around, etc. I watch my son go down the larger slide. I'm waiting at the bottom for him for 5 minutes. Still hasn't came out. I go to the top to look down the slide where there should've been a lifeguard but no one to be found. I go to the lifeguard sitting in the chair at the front and tell him that my 4 yr old went down and has not came out yet and I think he's stuck in the slide. He ARGUES WITH ME and says "no I've been watching and there's no one in the slide" UMMMM WHAT?!! Obviously realizing they could care less about my child or any children there, and I don't have time to argue because I'm worried about my 4 yr old, I rush back to the top of the slide and go down it and what do u know, my son was stuck in the middle of the pitch black loop of the slide, terrified and crying. This is totally unacceptable, I don't even have words. Hopefully that's enough to let you know this is not the place to go but if not, let me move on to my next complaint. There was a group of older kids constantly trying to climb up the larger water slides in the back that no one can see unless you walk back there. Which in the 3 hours I was there not one lifeguard walked back there or even glanced to check on anything. The first time I notified the lifeguard about the kids going up the slide, she went back there and told them that's not allowed. Then they kept doing it and multiple other parents complained as well. The second time I complained that they were still doing it and almost seriously injured my 4 yr old, the lifeguard said "oh I know I already told them to stop". Ummmm okay??? So you're just going to keep letting them do it putting all the other kids at danger?? At MINIMUM their parent should've been notified but in my opinion they should've been asked to leave after the 3rd complaint/telling them to stop. Honestly I could go on and on but I don't have all day. I truly just hope they increase the amount of lifeguards and hire experienced lifeguards that actually care about children's safety and at minimum have one adult employee on-site.

My biggest turn off was before she really asked how my son was, she asked if we had signed the waiver. I'm not saying this place isn't great for most people, but I personally won't be returning.

During the weekends, more families bring their kids to the playgrounds, but the park is more or less empty during the week. Buttercup Creek Park also features two tennis courts with lights. You must purchase a key from Cedar Park Parks & Recreation. The courts are well-maintained and open on a first-come, first-served basis. The pool is open to the public during the summer, but check the Cedar Park Recreation website for current hours. There is also ample parking available. I took off one star because the park itself is tiny. Though it packs a ton of amenities, one could walk from one end to the other in 1-2 minutes. Overall, Buttercup Creek Park is a great place to visit.

It is a large pool with a shallow and deep end with a diving board. There is also a ramp that you can walk in slowly with your babies or handicapped persons. The ramp literally looks like a wheelchair ramp that goes into the water along one side of the pool. The pool has a "lap" part where more serious swimmers can swim laps and an "open" part where you can just float around and play in the water freely. There is also a kiddie pool that is very shallow for toddlers and babies - still needs supervision of course. There is a fenced gate around the kiddie pool to separate it from the larger pool. There is shading under a large tree and small picnic tables, too. There were also lounging chairs that you can lay back on and sun bathe. They aren't open all year round but usually only during summer break. The lifeguards are usually highschool kids .. for summer jobs. There are plenty of parking spaces, restrooms, showers to rinse off and water fountains. Also if you're into PokemonGo there are a couple of stops and a gym here. :)

First thing they did was dunk her all the way in the water and she, of course, swallowed a lot of water and cried so hard. It took a while for another adult to come and "comfort her" which they really didn't offer true comfort. She was still crying and within the next two minutes it was her turn again and she screamed "nooo" and was kicking and screaming and the instructor dunked her all the way into the water AGAIN with her mouth wide open. Nothing short of torture! I quickly got up to take her out of the class. As a trauma informed practitioner, I know the importance of respecting people's "no's" and going at the pace of the child's body. My daughter was not ready to do that again and I was told over the phone that if she wasn't ready, they would practice only getting her chin in the water, and then the next round her nose and then her eyes, etc. that was not the case at all. When I took her out, one of the instructors said "she was doing great". I don't know in what world a terrified toddler whose agency just got taken away is considered doing "great" but I have never seen my daughter in more distress in my life. I am so glad I was brave enough to listen to my mom instinct and take her out of the class. I learned how to swim without the torture of drowning. This was not ok. I feel terrible about ever bringing my daughter to experience this. Absolutely terrible. I couldn't sleep last night and every time I replay it in my head, my heart hurts. What I would recommend doing instead is actually building a relationship of trust and respect with each child and going at their pace. I understand it's a short amount of time but the "cry it out" type of system in place is embarrassingly outdated and harmful.

I initially came here because I won a 3 month pass/membership in an auction at her school. This auction winning would entitle her to receive lessons for 3 months (I was also required to pay a sign-up fee aside from the pass I paid for in the auction). When I started scheduling my daughter with the 3 month pass, there were numerous issues with front-desk staff. I was given a plethora of inaccurate information from various staff members on how the 3 month pass/membership would work. Aside from these miscommunications, my daughter recently had an upper respiratory infection (which is highly contagious) and because of this, I canceled her last swim lesson for 08/28/2019 with the intent to reschedule once she was in better health. I was told at that time when I phoned to cancel said lesson by the employee who answered the phone that my daughter would be allowed to make-up the last class on the 3 month membership as it was not a 'no show' lesson. *Most folks know that an upper respiratory infection (especially in young children) can last for weeks and swimming, dental work etc. should be avoided until the infection subsides. Approximately three weeks later (which is almost standard recoup time for an infection such as the one she had), on 09/18/2019, I called and left a voice message to advise that my daughter is now able to swim as she is free from aliments --- in an attempt to schedule her last lesson of the 3 months I paid for. I did not get a call back, accordingly I called back today, 09/19/2019 to schedule her swim lesson and I was advised that because my daughter "is not on active plan", I would have to sign her up again and pay the sign-up fees I initially paid etc. and she would not be permitted to have her last lesson as it was too long ago from her last session. As a consumer, it is my stance that if someone pays for a service they are entitled to it. In this case, I paid for the lessons my daughter was to have but am being denied what I paid for because of an ailment. In addition, to pay a fee I already paid (the sign-up fee), which is to be good for one year again is preposterous. While I had every intent to sign my daughter up for regular lessons at the conclusion of the 3 month sessions, unfortunately I will have to take my business elsewhere. Buyer beware!

The larger one has swimming lanes, 2 low dives, 1 high dive, water-basketball, wade out area, etc. The smaller one is PERFECT for kids. It's probably no more than 1.5-2 feet deep, but has sprayers/fountains everywhere, a jungle gym in the middle of the pool with a slide, whale statues to sit on, etc. I saw kids from 2-12 in there having a blast! Not a swimmer? Not a problem! There are shaded areas to sit at if you just want to watch the others swim. I saw plenty of people sitting back with a book or laying out to get a tan. The prices are only $3 for youth (under 18) and $5 for adults. You can bring your own food and bev and spend the day in the sun, but cooling off! My husband and I just moved into a house in the Anderson Mill Mud district and out of our awesome apartment. Living in a house is awesome, but man.... how I missed the pools at the apartment complex, especially with well over a month of 3-digit tempteratures. But with this pool and it's appeal for all ages, I'm not missing that apartment complex anymore! I will definitely become a regular!
