It was the perfect day to shop Four Muddy Paws, because it was National Shop Your Local Pet Store Day. Yes, that is a real holiday. I was so glad to be able to stop by and support the original FMP. Since I moved to Illinois, I am now a regular at their Edwardsville store. Sophia got two new bandanas, two small iced dog treats and one big Happy Barkday Cookie to celebrate her special day. When we did our morning walk, we took the big cookie with us. As we meet her neighborhood friends, we broke off a piece of the big cookie and shared her celebration. The staff was new to me, but I was happy to see they still provided the good customer service that Four Muddy Paws is known for. I may be a regular in E-ville now, but I'll still hold a special place in my heart for the Lafayette store.

When I went a few weeks ago, it was Baxter's 2nd birthday so I let him sniff around and choose his birthday toy and treat. He was very excited to see other dogs walking around and wanted to be friends with everyone (humans and dogs)! The store offers a wide variety of treats as well as specialty treats for birthdays and gotcha days. The workers were also so friendly and when it was time to check out, I signed up for their rewards program and since it was our first time (and a birthday), they also gave me a small discount - which was much appreciated. I now know exactly where to go when Baxter needs more treats or toys. This local shop is just perfect for my little fur baby!

I made a mental note to come back, because I had to get to a hair appointment. I didn't want to be late and I would have been if I stopped to shop a pet store. Once I got to my hair appointment, my stylist announced she had adopted a new Lab puppy and in the same breathe, told me about this darling pet boutique on The Hill. Yep, it's one and the same. Two days later, my taxes are done and I am back on The Hill. Before going to my accountant, I made a point to shop Ciao Chow. This little shop has a good variety of pet accessories for both dogs and cats. I picked up a couple of new stainless bowls for my fur-babies and a bag of treats that is one of their favorites. I also, picked up a couple freshly baked bones painted in the colors of the Italian flag. I highly recommend that you come shop this local boutique for all your cat and dog food, treats, toys, etc., while supporting a local rescue. That's right, Ciao Chow partners with the non-profit animal rescue, All Paws Safe Haven. So, when you shop here you are supporting both a local business and charity. Pricing is moderate as we have aong haired dog. I gave them a 4 because they do not have a seperate grooming door. That's problematic for me because: 1) when there are events in store its hard to get to the grooming area 2) grooming opens before the store but there isn't a doorbell to get someone to come to the door to open it

About a year ago I got a mouse from there that had mites but I assumed it was a fluke. We went in to maybe get a new hamster but pretty much all of them were covered in mites and looked like they were suffering. 2 of them looked far worse then the rest and it was very upsetting to see them on display like that to be sold. There were even gnats flying around their tanks. We decided to move on to the fish in hopes they would be fine to look at, WRONG! There were handfuls of dead fish stuck on a filter and on the bottom of the tank. I understand animals can come in sick or develop things but then why not keep them in the back to be treated instead of putting their suffering on display? Absolutely so disheartened by the care there. I know it doesn't make a difference to a big ugly corporation like that but we will not be returning ever again!
