He showed up on time, was thorough in his work, polite, and respectful of our home. I had checked with 2 other companies and they wanted the rugs to be picked up or dropped off, said it would take 2-3 weeks and cost much more. Update: Called Aqualux for a barbecue sauce stain and a spot my new dog left on our floor (had heard they are good with pet stains/odor). Brent made some time the same week to come out and take care of the spots. The dog urine stain was completely gone, and he also completely removed the barbecue sauce stain, which he said was actually dog vomit (my dog had been sick a few weeks prior). He even cleaned the rest of the floor for good measure to make sure there was no pet odor. Super satisfied and they will definitely be my go-to carpet cleaners in the future. --- My original post: We called Aqualux when our house suddenly flooded. They came and helped us ASAP to get our furniture moved and carpets/linoleum pulled out. He was super up front with us about the costs and how much damage there may be. Like many of the folks on this page, I spoke to Richard after getting a great review from my sister about the cleaning he does at their house. They have a dog too, and get their whole house cleaned for about $300. For context, I live in a three story townhome, which I know could have an effect on price given it can be a pain to lug equipment and I was very transparent about that when I spoke to Richard. All I needed cleaned were two bedrooms and the hall that connected them. A friend and her two Yorkie's lived with me and so I was more concerned about cleaning her room, although there were no visible stains or nothing I could smell. Richard was great on the phone, estimating about $250 - give or take. I know that's a lot but I had heard great things, and was ready to spend the money for a good cleaning. The guy that showed up wasn't Richard. When I opened the door it seemed like he already had an attitude which got worse when I told him the carpet was on the third floor. Then as we got into the room, he asked if I had pets, and I said not anymore, but for about a year. Well - apparently he could smell the urine on the first floor - really? The Diagnosis, after closing blinds and running a black light was "that there was urine everywhere. It was everywhere and it had seeped into the pad and the only solution was to change the carpet" Then he told me that he could probably get out about 50% of the stuff out but I may need to think about replacing the pad. Then he tells me it's $350 for just the one room and hall - the other bedroom is another $50. All this was conveyed to me like it was a disaster, and that he couldn't believe I couldn't smell it, see it, etc. I was a little startled at the cost and the fact that he's telling me my carpet is not salvageable. I was not prepared to pay that much so I told him I'll wait to do this. His response - "Well, what did you think was going to happen??". Clearly he was agitated that I wasn't willing to just spend the money and he wasn't going to make a sale. I asked 4 different people, including my handyman, the AC repair guy, my neighbor and my sister to see if there was a smell - nothing. To be honest, there probably is some urine in that room with pets in there, but the way this person tried so hard to freak me out, upsell me, then get irritated that I just wouldn't do what he said was terrible. $400 for two bedrooms and a hall is really not cool. Here's the story. This company has gone out of its way to take care of us. Just by contacting us again to check up on us was something that was slowly raising the two stars that I had updated with a month ago. Then I received what appeared to be a hand-delivered letter to my door which was very professional and played as a courtesy reminder that if we were not happy with the services or if there was anything that needed to be cleaned that they would return at no charge to re-clean the area. That moved that star up another notch. Then to have the technician (same one as before) arrive and be very detailed, professional, friendly, and admit that they aren't always going to catch every spot, apologize for any disgruntled feelings, and admit that they're human and mistakes will happen but that they'll do what it takes to stand by their policy and keep their customer happy at all costs led me to believe this company is hard-working, determined, and if they don't get it right the first time they are humble enough to earn your trust, loyalty, and ensure that they do it right the next time if you allow them to. BTW.... while speaking with Richard (I think) he was telling me a little about his job and how much he enjoys it, how hard he works at it, and how he meets the state certification (or something to that extent) and has it renewed annually. He mentioned that not only was it mandatory for all Aqualux employees but they also had to be trained in how to use the equipment and certain chemicals when cleaning. We had small chit-chat while he was prepping the equipment and while I was a bit taken back by him the first time we met I have to say that he was very friendly, courteous, and committed to service. He stated, "If you pay for our service, we'll make sure you'll get what you paid for because its not fair to pay for something and not be 100% satisfied or not receive what you expected" in more words or less. I'm confident they'll help remediate the odor until I'm happy even if it means calling them again.... no hassle/no qualms. Just call again and they'll come back if the odor does not go away. Not bad if you ask me and thank you for not making me feel so bad for actually taking up on the offer to have the company come back and clean up again. BTW.... I'm not receiving any future discounts or hookups for writing this. I believe that my reviews should exemplify how a service is provided at that given time... a provider can always improve and even those merits should be brought to light if a business can work to do better. Besides we gain nothing by bashing companies... only with hope that a business owner has the open-mind, humility, integrity and courage to improve based on the critique of its clientel can they excel and surpass expectations. The consumer should be able to give honest feedback without having fear of retaliation and without feeling like the owner or company will harbor any ill resentment. Avoid Aqualux at all cost!!! I have never encountered a worse customer service experience than my interactions with Richard. I called Aqualux to treat a small pet stain on our 10' x 14' Restoration Hardware viscose rug. Richard came over for the initial assessment. He identified the type of rug and quoted me $300 to treat the one stain. I thought this was extremely overpriced but Richard explained that they have to treat the entire rug, which is why the price is so high. Ultimately, I decided to give Aqualux a shot. Richard and another guy cleaned the rug. After the rug was immediately cleaned, I could no longer see the stain. However, as the rug dried, the stain reappeared but this time, 4 to 5 times larger than its original size! What was even worse is that I found four NEW stains elsewhere on the rug. I took pictures of the original and new stains and sent to Richard. He told me he had no idea why the original stain got bigger and why new stains appeared. First of all, how could someone who is a professional carpet cleaner have no explanation for what happened? He told me that this has never happened to him before, which is hard to believe. Also at this point, he started to blame the results on the fact that we have a viscose rug. He told me that I should never buy a viscose rug again and that I should have just thrown out the rug after my neighbor's dog had an accident on it. What kind of an attitude is this? Rather than make a customer feel bad about the situation, he should have taken ownership of what he had done (which was to have made our rug in a worse condition than before) and focus on fixing the problem. Richard was willing to come back out and retreat the stains. At this point, he also told me I could have my money back. However, since he made our rug worse after treating it, I wanted him to fix the problem and so did not want my money back. Before coming back out when I spoke to Richard on the phone, he assured me that they can remove the new stains. Unfortunately, his attitude completed changed the day he came back out. As he was treating the stains, he told me again how I should never buy another viscose rug again and that viscose rugs should be illegal because they're so hard to clean. Well, he knew it was a viscose rug from the very beginning so if he didn't have the confidence that he could successfully treat the stain, then he should've been honest with me in the first place. While he was re-cleaning the rug, I asked him again how the new stains could have appeared. When we spoke on the phone, Richard told he didn't know because he would need to see the new stains in person. So naturally, I asked him again since now he was able to see the new stains in person. He immediately got so frustrated and started to yell at me and accuse me of asking the same questions over and over again. I did not ask the same questions over and over again; rather, I asked him in person about the new stains since he told me he would need to see them in person first before giving me an answer. Then I told Richard I didn't appreciate the way he was talking to me at which point, he yelled at me, "I am done with you!" He then told his colleague to turn off the machine and they stormed out mid-job. I tried calling Richard several times afterwards but he refused to answer since he recognized my number. What Richard did was completely unacceptable. Not only did he fail to remove the original, small stain, but also he somehow left FOUR NEW large, yellow stains on our rug (his second trip did not help and in fact made all the stains bigger again!). He completely ruined our very expensive RH rug. Also, I am 5 and 1/2 months pregnant and the fact that Richard yelled at me and stormed out on me in the middle of their cleaning is repugnant. After the incident, I went to Aqualux's website to try to find other numbers that I can call so I can report Richard to a supervisor/manager. Unfortunately, I have been unsuccessful. It seems like the company is owned by Richard and there is no other person above him. When I was on the website, however, I found a page for Blogs. On May 27, 2019 (after Richard cleaned our rug the first time), someone from the company wrote a blog about how one should never buy viscose. The blog also had a picture of our rug with the stain on it! Again, if Richard despised viscose as much as he says he does and didn't think the stain was treatable, then why did he agree to clean my rug and take my $300? SUCH A SCAM. Like other reviews on this page, Richard also told me they do not accept credit cards. I paid in cash and never got a receipt (despite Richard promising me he would send me a receipt). The least Aqualux can do is to give me my money back for the damage they've caused. read more

This was the 4th time I used Aqualux's services. Each time I have been more impressed. They are fast, friendly, punctual, trustworthy, and extremely thorough. They even asked me to inspect the rug to make sure it was cleaned to my satisfaction. It certainly was! I have white carpets in two rooms that I bought pre-dog and baby, and they were so dirty I was sure I'd have to replace them. But to my surprise, Aqualux made them look like new! Looks like you need to make sure you read the "flagged" reviews here at Yelp. Aqualux's "displayed" reviews are all good. I would say this place is average to better than average. They low-balled me $125 on the phone. The technician claims this is because people in the office underestimate jobs, but I know exactly how much square footage of carpeting I have, and I told them so. I am sure that all places that do a average to better than average job have to low-ball you on the phone or you would never ask them to do the job, and you would just have one of the low priced crappy places do it. A long time ago I used one of those $99 deals with another establishment, and they did a horrible job. Aqualux did do an average to good job, but I feel it was too expensive. As far as carpet cleaning goes, always request the newer double brush extraction method over the wand method of cleaning. The double brush extraction method is much better than wand. Next try to pin them down on a price for that method on the phone, and maybe be ready to turn them away when they do not honor the price in person. I know that is a hassle but they will not want to miss out on the job either, so I imagine you can bring them down some on price by threatening to send them away. Again I believe most if not all carpet companies low-ball, and manipulate review sites like yelp, so it's not like these guys are any worse than anyone else, but they probably are not much better, if at all. read more

I was impressed with the effort to get us on the schedule and the quality of the work. Aqualux gets an A+ on customer service. The prices were more than reasonable. I have used Aqualux more than 7 times over the past 4-5 years. I have nothing negative to say about them. Always on time, set expectations ACCURATELY, and do exactly what they say. Richard is the guy that has always come by and we always go over what the expectations are and what he can do. If there are particularly tough stains then he'd explain what it would require to take it out and associated costs. We had a pepto bismol stain that caused issues and Richard said he would do the best he could without increasing cost, and that's exactly what he did. Please note that I did not actually have Aqualux service performed because I never got that far. This review is simply on my experience trying to give them my business. I was looking for a company to do upholstery cleaning on a couch, ottoman and chair. I had already gotten quotes with 4 other companies, but based on positive reviews I wanted to reach out to Aqualux. I spoke with a sales associate, Richard, who was to put it nicely, a strong salesman. He was knowledgeable about the product and was good at highlighting the benefits, but was extremely aggressive in his pitch. He gave me a quote over the phone that was $100 over the next highest competitive bid and nearly $150-$175 over all the other bids. I pointed this out and his response was simply you get what you pay for. After asking how we could work on the price, thinking perhaps there were different level cleaning options, or maybe they were running a special or giving a multi-piece discount as many of the other companies do. He became rude and basically said you want the Mercedes but you can't afford the Mercedes so you just have to go someone else. I've never known a company not to work with a first time customer on price and basically tell them to go with another company, so I was a bit speechless. I left the phone call feeling convinced on the product but confused on the customer service, or lack thereof, I just received. I called back the second day, and Richard didn't remember who I was so I started from the beginning. We landed in the same place. After explaining that I'd like to give him my business, but needed to work on the budget, he again said the price is firm and the way to reduce the price is to reduce the number of pieces (really!?) He said he would talk with his manager and get back to me, which of course never happened. So I wrote to another sales rep to see if she could help me. I explained that I was surprised at the lack of flexibility or willingness to work with me and she sent me back to Richard. I asked to speak with a supervisor and instead of having a supervisor call me, I was told anyone of them could help me. So after feeling blocked and frustrated, I decided to move onto another company. I don't care how good your product is, if I have to work that hard to give you my business before we even get started, there's something wrong. As I said, I can't testify to their actual service, only the lack of flexibility in their high prices and poor customer service. read more

Okay, here's the straight scoop on Aqualux...I called and spoke to Brent about geting our carpets and rugs clean. When I mentioned pet stains, he said a quote would have to be given at the time of inspection. That's fine ...so on the agreed to time, 8am, he was there on the dot. He wasted no time in looking around and getting down to business. Everything was going great until he started talking. When we were discussing price, he had the audacity to actually say " I'm just trying to figure out what you know and don't know" I protested and said "What I know is irrelevant. The price should be the same regardless of my knowledge of the market" His reply "Lets move on". I was ready to kick him out right then but I bit my tongue and waited for more. Nothing sounds better to Brent than the sound of his own voice. He loves to talk, listening is his weakness. I think the young guy cares about carpet. I think he is passionate about stains and thier complete removal. I believe he is completely competent if a bit boorish.....but that may improve with maturity. I'm sure he talks himself out of more jobs than he gets. My two rooms and two rugs came to about $600.00...for work that took about three hours for him to do by himself. Richard with Auqalux cleaned our carpets recently. He did a very excellent job with the carpet cleaning but here are a few concerns: 1) They are overpriced. He charged an extra $150.00 to clean an area floor rug on top of what we already owed for the 3 rooms and hallway. Completely overpriced considering our final bill was $400. 2) This is not a big thing, but he talks too much. It appears there was more talking than cleaning. 3) He only takes checks or cash, no credit cards. When I asked about this he said Aqualux is a small company which is why they do not accept credit cards. This makes absolutely no sense at all. I know plenty of small companies that take credit cards. In this day and age, there is no excuse for not having access to processing credit cards even as an app on your phone. I don't know anyone who keeps that much cash lying around. Also, it's hard to have the exact amount considering the price can change after he starts the cleaning. 4) He did not leave a receipt when he was done which is puzzling. Perhaps he didn't want to leave a paper trail for the overpricing. Again, the cleaning was great but the low rating is for everything else described in this review. More than likely I will not use them again as there are other companies with better competitive rates. read more

The website looks amazing and the "song and dance" they tell you on the phone makes you THINK this company serves a special niche for expected mothers who want a true cleaning and/or pet issues and how they make sure your carpets are clean. The customer service after we chose this company was HORRIFIC! The man that came to our home LIED to us on numerous occasions...actually LIED to my husband and I. He claimed he said things to each of us, when he did not. Thank goodness for technology to prove that! Our carpet looked as if we rented a cleaner at the grocery store and did it ourselves. He did not vacuum first, then asked if he could use our zip lock bags to set the furniture on afterwards (compared to Stanley Steamer or Dalworth - real professionals), I was very surprised at this. Claimed, based on HIS nose that our cat pet problem in one section of a dining room was gone...yet anyone that walked into our home after a week could smell it...the problem was made worse. Before Aqualux came, the problem was only noticable when you were in that one corner of the dining room, even based on what Aqualux said. Digging and doing a little more research, I found that this company may not have been in business as long as they said and there is some conflicting information in regards to owners, etc. JUST DO YOUR RESEARCH! They actually refunded our money, or part of it. I should have insisted on all of it, but just wanted this "smooth operator" out of my home. And by the way...they only want cash or a check and never did provide me with a reciept, as promised and thier professional name is NOT on thier van. All the way around...they seemed a little shady.
