Super friendly staff and extremely clean facility! My child looks forward to the lesson every week…read moreand is so much more comfortable in the water now whereas before he would scream and refuse to even get in. I recommend this swim school!

This review is long overdue. I purchased a Groupon last year (around April or May) and enrolled my…read morethen, 8 month old son in their infant/parent swim lessons. When we started the lessons, they were held at the Marriott in Oakbrook - the location was decently convenient - parking right outside the hotel - except you had to go to the front desk to get a key to the swim facilities in the hotel's basement. My biggest complaints: 1. The website advertises warm water - "Our indoor pool is heated to a comfortable 86 degrees and with a variety of swimming classes from beginner thru advanced swimmers we are sure to have a swim program that is perfect for your little one." this is in their website. - BULLSHIT - the water was FREEZING each time we went and we took 8 lessons there - almost every kid went in the water crying and every one of them came out with blue lips. 2. The instructors were "fine". meaning they were just ok. hard for me to gauge since an 8/9 month old isn't really learning anything but getting acclimated to a pool environment. they had fun songs. 3. When we had to miss a lesson - we made it up at their new location, which is the one at the McDonald's campus listed on their website today. My experience with this location is what made me NOT sign up ever again with this school. The hotel is difficult to find if you haven't been before. Then there is no parking in front of the hotel. the parking about a 5 min walk away and you have to walk uphill to get there. Once in the hotel, it's another long walk before you actually make it to the pool area of the hotel. I feels like an eternity if you have a heavy baby that isn't quite walking yet. I wish I knew that it would be so annoying, otherwise I would have brought my stroller with me. at least the water was a bit warmer here but still, not warm enough. I'm giving them 2 stars rather than 1 because you don't have to wait for a session to start, they seem to have continuous sessions so you can jump in at any time. that is convenient. We go to Swim with Bill in Aurora and LOVE LOVE LOVE the warm water. swim lessons are excellent. there - my son is now 21 months and almost swimming

My 3 children took swim lessons…read more Pros: the teachers and staff are all very nice and relate to kids well. They have a nice area where the kids can play/relax after class for a few minutes. They use the whole lane of the pool to teach which maximizes swim time. The teachers sometimes have them "group swim" instead of ONLY individual swim which maximizes swim time. They also are very prompt with starting and ending on time. Cons: the teachers they have are not consistent, and so they don't know your child's swim level, and the skills worked on that week is random (whatever the teacher wants to do), so there is a lack on consistency. I also wish there was an option for parents to sit inside the pool area instead of only the option to sit outside of the glass. Overall, I would go for another lesson, but wish for more consistency in skills learned each week.

Been taking my daughter to swim classes here for a couple of years. We were excited to graduate…read morefrom the baby classes, which is 30 minutes of just getting the kids used to being in water and most of the instructors we had did not seem too engaged in the class. Once we got to the 3-5 classes, the instructors were great and my kids loved it. However, we had 2 weeks in a row where, first, my 3-year-old fell in the water and was picked up by another instructor who was walking around the pool. Then the next week, during the last 5 minutes of "play time," my 4-year-old slipped off the wall and was fully submerged and flailing in the water. The teacher (who is great) was with another child. I don't know how long my daughter was under water (it felt like forever), but it was long enough for all five parents watching to bang repeatedly on the class and yell for someone's attention, since the door to the pool is locked and we couldn't get in. Finally, an instructor walking around the pool noticed and grabbed my daughter. During both incidents, the "lifeguard" did not notice either girl and made no move to help either time. After the second incident, we removed my daughter's from the class. I spoke with the manager, Jackie, who was great, discussed how there is no way that should be happening, and offered a full refund. Then she had the supervisor, Marty, call me. He made the situation much worse by repeatedly discussing how young children don't listen by the pool and it causes unsafe situations. I agreed with him, acknowledging that my 3-year-old fell in due to not listening. But my 4-year-old is very nervous by the water and tends to be a very good listener. Despite mentioning this, Marty again discussed how children don't listen and cause an unsafe situation by continually jumping in the pool on the own. Even if my daughter was not listening, there should be no reason a child is fully submerged under the water with no one (especially the lifeguard) noticing until parents finally get their attention by banging on windows and yelling. Marty made the whole experience worse by his attempts to explain why the situation occurred and helped me feel more confident in my decision to transfer the girls to the new Foss swim school (which is also much bigger and cleaner).

Note: This review covers swim lessons and a birthday party rental…read more Goldfish Swim School does a wonderful job of teaching kids how to swim. That's their bread and butter. But they also do a fantastic job at hosting parties. They are a top notch facility and staff. For swim lessons, they offer 25 min classes at no more than a 4:1 student:teacher ratio. The kids progress along at their own pace, leveling-up when they're ready (could be after one week, one month, or longer). No matter what, the environment is kept fun yet challenging. And the instructors are all very welcoming, accommodating, and encouraging to the kids. For parties, they do an absolutely wonderful job. For a total of two hours (~2/3 in water, 1/3 out) they are as engaged as you want/need them to be or not. After getting all kids safely into the water they ran them through some fun games and then let them swim for a good amount of time with full-access to all toys/floats. After drying off, the kids ate (food needs to be brought in) and had cupcakes (provided). All decorations, setup/cleanup, and goodie bags were provided. It really was a delightful experience that was driven home by the fantastic staff. We couldn't be happier with the swim instruction provided and the recent party we had here at Goldfish Swim School.

She is allowed to pick and choose which policy she enforces. When it comes to having kids hangout in the lifting areas or in bathrooms it's a total free for all. There are plenty of signs up that clearly state no gym bags in the lifting area but yet every other person you see has a bag on them. It literally feels like a High School upstairs with all the backpacks. And when I complained, she told me she is doing her best, and whenever I see the bags up there to tell her. When I did that, I was told I was trying too hard! Then they suspended my Membership because they do not want to have to enforce ALL of their own policies. There is literally only one entrance/exit and once you go upstairs you have to go back down in order to leave. Think about what people can bring in a big old duffle bag when no one is truly enforcing the bag policy. It's scary to even think about how unprofessional this club has been managed and the liabilities they have in front of them. The suspension of my Membership for asking them to enforce their own policies is discrimination. They are trying to silence Members instead of actually making change.
