The swim school has plenty of positives, it has a great indoor pool where they can control the temperature, the teacher/kid ratio is about 1/4 which ensures your child has plenty of attention, lifeguards surrounding the pool during class time, nice teachers, and excellent facility decorated to cater to kids. Unfortunately, the HUGE negative is their customer service. They have front desk staff that is extremely rude to parents. A simple question can turn into a plethora of defensive and sarcastic comments. They could do so much better if they trained their front desk staff to be kind and respectful. read more

The teachers here are great no complaints there. But the place in general is mediocre at best. The bathing suit spinner has been broken for 2 months and there was no soap in ANY of the shower dispensers last Sunday which is just gross and totally unacceptable. We pay a pretty penny for our 3 kids to take lessons here, the least they can do is keep the place clean and get the amenities in working order. read more

I can't say enough about Goldfish Swim. After trying several pools in the area we found Goldfish Swim to be clean, updated, and the pool is very warm. The place is decorated in a cute underwater theme that my kids immediately fell in love with. But what I love the most is that the classes are smaller and more organized with actual specific instruction for each level. My 3 yr old adjusted right away with no tears after the 1st class. This is the best place of employment if you are looking for a job. I was hired in late May and I'm terribly sad to be leaving to go back to school. Everyone was so welcoming and warm on my first day and helped me out when I needed it. The people here are wonderful to work with and I've created such meaningful friendships in these few short months. Our managers, Mary and Natalia, are the two most caring and helpful people you will ever meet. Their doors are always open if you have a quick question or need assistance with anything. The energy walking into work everyday was so high and it kept reminding me what a phenomenal place this is to work. You will never meet co-workers like them; these are the people who made coming into work everyday so enjoyable. If you enjoy working with kids this is the place to be. As a Swim Instructor you will find such joy in seeing a child progress throughout the weeks, and knowing that you were apart of that just makes it that much more enjoyable. If you want a place that is flexible with your hours they are always accommodating and will find times that will work for you. Hands down this is the best place that I've ever work. read more

DO NOT GO HERE. I truly cannot say one positive thing. All of these instructors have HORRIBLE attitudes. They spend more time talking to each other than interacting with your kid. They are terribly rude. Today they held my daughters arms under water and didn't notice her mouth was under water. She was then crying and asked to get out. They did not comfort her or talk her through it. Completely scared the hell out of her and after the class I mentioned she was scared, the instructor said no she was apprehensive. we love this swim school! my girls have been attending swim classes here for awhile and we've been super happy with their cleaning process since they've opened! the classes are smaller, the lanes are bigger, and the guidelines they've put in place supports a safe, clean environment. we didn't want to lose out on teaching them this life skill but don't feel we're comprising our health either! thank you goldfish burr ridge for creating the right space for our littles ones, for your amazing and helpful staff, and for teaching our girls how to feel confident and be safe in the water! read more

Good instructors, awful communication, administrative staff and management. When the time comes to cancel a membership, prepare for the worst. If you call and leave messages, they won't be returned. If you email with notice of cancellation, it is treated as spam. Cancellation procedures ruin the customer experience and we will not be coming back. read more

We love Goldfish Swim School! Its so great that it is warm and just for kids. We started at 4 months and have continued on and off. My daughter now loves the water and isn't scared of anything. My only complaint is the cost. It's really hard to fit in a make-up class if you miss, and you are only allowed 9 a year. I wish they had a punch card program, instead of a monthly fee. They could also have some more free open swims. read more

Unfortunately this review is a long time coming and has nothing to do with the wonderful teachers. We have been on the "wait list" for over 4 months, watched as other children got moved up into other classes. When we inquire about the "wait list" we are told it doesn't actually matter because people can just call in and get moved ahead. The front desk staff are unorganized, unhelpful and rude without offering an actual solution. Our daughter loves her swim teacher, sadly we will be pulling her from the class because we can no longer spend $200 a month wasting away while the front desk gets hems and jaws over what lie to tell us today. read more

We've been Goldfish Groupies since my littlest was in diapers and I can't say enough about this place. We started in Roscoe Village moved to Western Springs and transferred to Naperville Goldfish and then Burr Ridge opened! Allelulia! Steve and his staff at GF Burr Ridge are patient, dedicated, professional instructors that make learning to swim fun! What's more, the facilities are a gorgeous tropical oasis, a blast for the littles and parents alike. Both my sons are swimming now unassisted and because Goldfish teaches safety first, I am completely at ease when my kids are near open bodies of water. So listen up parents, there's no honor in suffering through lessons in those cold high school pools!!! Just join Goldfish and your family will love attending lessons, family swims and watching your kids happily acquire new swimming skills week after week. Only 4 months til summer!!!! read more

A few weeks ago, I was telling anyone who would listen about this great swim school in Burr Ridge, called Goldfish Swim School. The facility is clean, warm and kid friendly. The instructors have helped my kids make great progress in the few months we've been taking swim lessons there. My issue with them began at the last lesson on August 31st. While watching my 3 year old in his lesson, I heard a woman screaming and running through the door into the pool area. She was screaming "my son, my son!" I looked over at my 3 year old son's group, and saw a little boy had fallen off the bench in the pool, and was under the water. The instructor's back was to him as she worked with another student. I am not sure how long he was under, but at least long enough for her to notice, run to the door, open it, and run all the way around the pool to the lane her son was in before the lifeguard or instructor realized he was under water. I couldn't believe this happened when the instructor was so close to the kids in the water, and the lifeguard was sitting in the chair directly in front of them. Fast forward to the next lesson... Today, my 6 year old son had just finished his lesson, and was at the shower area. My 3 year old son's lesson had just begun. I was standing near the shower area when I saw my 3 year old slip off the bench into the water. The instructors back was to him. I yelled his name and ran the 10 or 15 feet to the edge of the pool, and reached for him. As I was reaching in, I was yelling at the instructor and lifeguard to help. They pulled him out right away. He was of course crying and coughing up water. I calmed him down, and didn't make a big deal about it, because I didn't want him to be scared. I am thankful that I happened to be right there. He was only under for a few seconds, and is fine. I'm sure in a few more seconds, someone would have noticed, but that's a few more seconds too long for me. After the lesson, the instructor did not talk to me about it, nor did the lifeguard. They did not seem to be phased by it. I stopped at the front desk to discuss it with them, and they brought the manager over. She stated that they train their instructors to "have their heads on a swivel", so that they will not have their eyes off the children for more than a second or two at a time. I told her I understand that is how they train their staff, but in BOTH instances it was more than a second or two that the kids were under water with nobody taking notice. It was easily 10 seconds with the boy on the 31st. In both instances, the training obviously did NOT work. I told her that I no longer felt my kids were safe in the pool there. Her response was "I'm sorry you feel that way". No suggestions for improvement, no mention of stepping up training for instructors and lifeguards...nothing. I don't think she even saw it as a problem. It is a shame because I love the program, and my kids have made great progress in the few months we have been there. I was hoping to hear something from the manager that would restore my faith in their safety precautions. Sadly, it didn't happen. We will be looking for swim lessons somewhere else. read more

We love Goldfish, the teachers are phenomenal ! The place is clean, kid friendly, heated pool (when its working) and small class sizes. However they lose great teachers often. Stephanie R. is one of the reasons we "were" loyal to Goldfish. Several parents and students were sad/upset to hear of her leaving. She was extremely dedicated and supportive of meeting our daughters goals. Hopefully they can improve and retain great staff when they see it! read more

The lessons are fine. Teachers turn over a lot, but that seems common in places like this. My biggest issue is that they do not publish their schedules anywhere nor do the have wait lists. Both Bear Paddle and Max Aquatics do. When my son moved up a level, that had no openings and just told me to keep coming and calling every few days. I did that for one week, but I don't have time to call everyday nor will I pay for my son to keep swimming at a level he's mastered with no potential openings in sight. Not at all reasonable in 2016. read more

Your summer Jump Start classes are awesome and pushed her to keep learning. Goldfish is great! My daughter is 21 months and loves swimming there! Her teacher Ms. Rachel is such a gem. I like that the class is so well organized into 2-3 minute swimming activities (often using balls, floats, a slide, and songs). The movement from the different activities helps keep my daughter's attention and helps her become more and more comfortable in the water. My husband and I take turns swimming with our daughter because we both think it is so fun! Also, the staff behind the front desk are always smiling and are very helpful. I was looking forward to trying to sign up my kids for swimming lessons here as we have already taken lessons with the British Swim School but wanted to try this for the proximity to our house. However, when I called to sign the kids up, I was unfortunately connected with a most unpleasant person named Megan, who was not only completely unhelpful, but also rude and condescending. If this is any indication of what the rest of the staff is like, I don't want any part of the Goldfish swim school. read more
