We were thrilled with the convenient location after traveling much farther for three other swim schools for our four year old. Not only was the staff incredibly welcoming but my son had his most successful swim lesson ever. He has done two YMCA classes and one at Tide Swimming which was a long drive but this setup was by far the most organized we have seen which makes a huge difference with so many families and kids around. The smaller lanes turned out to be perfect for him especially since he has been hesitant about getting water on his face. To our surprise he went in without his goggles which was a huge milestone. The platforms in the pool allowed him to feel safe and secure and even though I was not right next to him I felt completely at ease. The instructors knew exactly how to help him shake off any nerves and quickly got him smiling again. I could clearly see how much more fun he had here than at any other lesson. From the warm welcome to the little fish toy he took home the experience was fantastic from start to finish. Their website is also easy to use and makes it simple to find information and get started. We are now planning to enroll our nineteen month old daughter who was practically begging to get in the water. Honestly we had started to think swim lessons were not making much progress but today completely changed our minds. I can truly see our son starting to swim on his own here which is something I never saw at the other places. We could not imagine a better first day and are so excited to continue our journey with Goldfish Swim School.

They adjust their approach and work with us and our sensory sensitive kiddo. Some days he needs a gentler approach and others he can be pushed a little further and challenged. The way they teach is like nothing we had seen. AND it works like a champ. After 4 seasons, our daughter is like a little mermaid. We starter her when she was 5 and she learned to swim on her own after just 4 lessons! Now she takes lessons to learn new strokes and just to see her instructor Rorie. She's awesome. They teach in Hawaii during the winter months and Virginia Beach during the summer months. You can't get much better than that for a swim instructor that regularly swims with the dolphins!

A community center is supposed to be a place where you can hold club meetings, throw a birthday…read moreparty, enjoy the pool, and, yes, take a class and work out in the gym. This place is just a gym with too many rules. Here's what I've been asked to stop doing or even leave for: Swimming too slowly in the pool lanes Not playing tennis in the tennis court (my child and I were the only ones there, and we were playing) Bringing a child younger than 9 or 14 onto the track Playing basketball with a basketball brought from home. All the others are ALWAYS taken. They confiscated my ball. Going the wrong way in the pool. The lifeguard didn't realize that going against the current is a form of exercise. Walking the track instead of running Stopping next to the track Sitting on the exercise equipment. It had a chair that I chose to sit on for two minutes. No one was around. Today, two fellow members kicked me out because I had flip-flops on. They were right about it being against the rules, but it just reminded me of the pervasive culture of entitlement and snobbery that exists at this location. For context, I have memory issues, which is why I had flip-flops on at the gym.

Flyers of class schedule, pool and gym schedule and other locations are all available by the bulletin stand where you take schedule printouts. I cannot wait to start my early morning classes!

What a knowledgeable, professional, dynamic, fun, personable instructor. I instantly felt like I was in a training environment in which I was not just a customer but truly joining a family. It was obvious that they weren't merely focused on selling or upselling gear. Thank you Mason and Chris for helping me select the right equipment for me. Finally, let me talk to my fellow retired folks who may have wanted to learn SCUBA, but now feel like that ship has sailed.
