One of the area's is bumped out for a slide, the other for a diving board during Summer months. You must pay a membership in order to use this facility. Currently the pool has a bubble over it and is heated for Winter swim meets. ODAC runs it's USA 8&U circuit meets out of this facility once a month until February. The bubble will be taken off in Spring and will return to an outdoor pool. Then the reverse occurs in the Fall with the bubble being put back up. Practices for year around USA swimming club Old Dominion Aquatic Club, or ODAC are conducted at this pool in the morning and evening. There is a very large concrete deck which is very nice and one of the bigger assets the pool has. The facility has always been kept in good shape every time I have seen it. However, there is nothing really special here. Parking is an extreme challenge during events. This is a nice functioning pool that serves the area well and for that it is A-OK.

The parking are is small. If you park on the main road, make sure all four wheels of your car are in the grass. We were warned that you will get ticketed if they're not. The air inside the bubble felt warm to me, but I was dry. The restrooms and shower areas were clean and well stocked with paper towels, tp, etc. They have metal bleachers set up for spectators, but I'd bring a cushion for the long meets. There are also some tables and chairs scattered around, but you can't see the action from that area. There was a concession stand, as well. Bring cash!

It has a tennis court and a gym(members only) on the second floor. Place is impeccably clean including the bathroom. It has shower rooms and small place to change. That's why the four star. Small patch of lawn is well manicured. However, the woman working the day of Aug. 21 at around 12noon turned us off. Her manner of telling the kids not to stay in the lap lane or not holding on to the pool rope divider verged on rude reprimand and she did this while on her cell phone. We never came back. It was probably the intention. Not that it matters to her or Sanderling. It was our first time renting a house without a pool. Lesson learned. The older guy was nicer.

Still fairly new nautilus equipment, med balls, and cardiovascular equipment. The fitness center is on the second floor of a new clubhouse and looks out a bank of floor to ceiling windows with gorgeous views of the sound. The cardio is also hooked up to cable TV so come watch Sportscenter or an episode of Law and Order and get an hour in on the treadmill with a beautiful view. 2 - Clubhouse - the new clubhouse is great. Large screen TV if you want to get together with some friends. Even the bathrooms for the pool are very nice and high end. 3 - Crab dock - make sure to get some line, a net, and seem chicken and see how many blue crabs you can pull in! 4 - Pool - very good functional pool. Has a lap lane for those who want to get a workout it. A pool that still has a dive pool deep enough to dive. Wish the pool had a beach entry but it was built too long ago. There is a kids pool for the little ones. 5 - Tennis courts - always in good shape. Make sure to call the pool to reserve your time.

This review is strictly just for our experience here Wednesday, December 8, 2021 for our company Christmas party. The facility is beautifully decorated for Christmas which enables us for perfect photo ops. We did not have anyone welcome us nor did we have anyone show us the banquet room but we managed to find our way. The DJ was present. The room was also very well decorated and lit up. The drinks and hors d'oeuvres were displayed. Their bathrooms were clean and easily accessible. Their food was good. Their buffet style dinner consisted of salmon, roast beef, asparagus, salad, mashed potatoes and rolls. Nice place. Great location and plenty of parking space.

There are additional amenities, such as basketball courts, kiddie pool.& much more. The Pool is open seasonally and is closed on Tuesdays. Built in 1970 the non profit is run by a Pool Board and Volunteers. Neighborhood & Member events are varied and plentiful. Memberships are available at the Individual, Couple and Family Rates with Guest Passes available for purchase by members. There is a Senior Discount. The location is in the Pembroke Meadows neighborhood off Independence Boulevard. Before the Bayside Recreation Center was built it was the swimming choice for many residents of Bayside with children and teens. Parents spent hours t by the pool even though it was well staffed with lifeguards. It was a great place for kids to swim and socialize with their friends. It was fun for parents to meet and socialize on the pool deck, Pembroke Meadows Marlins is the swim team for the Center. It's a great way for kids to learn swim competition and develop their skills in the different strokes. Swim meets were held early in the morning on weekends. The pool is closed during this time. My son developed excellent swim skills during the time period when he was young and we were members. The early morning swim meet times were tough though for this night owl. :) It's hard for many Bayside residents to envision a time before the Bayside Rec Center was built. Pembroke Meadows filled the swimming void during that time. Last year I was watching my son and grandson swimming from the bleachers at the pool. I met a man who was waiting for his Grandson to finish swim team practice. I told him my son had been on the swim team at Pembroke Meadows. He said that his was also. Time had passed. Generations had changed. The kids that swam at Pembroke Meadows then now have children of their own. Thank you Pembroke Meadows Pool & Swim Team for the years of fun. A special thanks go out for the skills my son learned on the swim team. He has passed them on to his son.

The Greenbrier Family YMCA is one of my favorite places to work out! It's affordable, which is a…read morewin because I feel like many gyms charge ridiculous prices these days. But here, you get so much for what you pay! They have tons of classes at a variety of times. My go-to's are kettlebells and Tabata--they're such killer workouts but in the best way. One of the things I love most is that the instructors actually do the workouts with you, which is so motivating. Plus, they're super helpful if you need modifications--they just want you to feel good and do your best. And even though this is one of the smaller YMCAs, the vibe is always friendly and welcoming. Just a heads-up, though--weekend classes can get pretty packed, so I recommend showing up early if you want to grab a good spot! I look forward to my workouts here, and it's such a great community. Whether you're a total fitness newbie or a gym rat, there's something here for everyone.
