If you're rolling into Newport and want to stock up for the week, this is the place to go! This is alway our first stop on our way to our yearly vacation. This is the most reasonably priced liquor store around offering a wide selection of beer, wine and liquors. The staff is helpful in making recommendations. We went to the drive thru the other day to restock on ice and wine in the middle of our vacation. Not being able to browse around, we gave the cashier our price point and she recommended the perfect sparkling wine. All of the staff here are friendly when we stop in. Of course there are other liquor and wine stores right in Newport, but the prices at Aquidneck Liquors can't be beat. read more

An okay selection, and friendly service. My biggest complaint is that about 70% of the time, when I use their drive through window, I get warm beer. It doesn't seem like it would be that difficult to keep a little bit of everything in their cooler. Cold beer is the exception, not the rule here. read more

Very, VERY rude woman. I politely asked for smaller brandy as they usually have small bottles behind the counter. She was so hostile, looked at me like I was insane, and pointed to a corner behind the counter and told me to go get whatever brandy I wanted. I walked out of that store furious. Great liquor store, with a decent selection of beer, wine, liquor, and various other party staples. Great location across the lot from shaws so you can knock out beer and food in one trip. By the way, did I mention, they also have a drive thru. So if you know what you want I recommend you hit that up. If like me you like to try something new once in a while take your time and check out their great selection of IPAs. They also carry local newport/rhode island beer, wine, and rum. read more

Feck this place...nickel and dime you to death. I asked for a case of can beer. Was told only 12-packs. I asked same price? No slightly higher. Turns out the register price of 31.48 ended up being 35.01. Added tax (not on register total) and a fecking 1.33 surcharge for credit card. Phuck this place. I just went to aquickneck liquors thru the drive window. I have gone thru a few times and never had an issue. I wanted a bottle of chardonnay and wasn't sure of the brand I wanted. I went a few months ago with not knowing what wine I wanted and the clerk at that time was so friendly and helpful, he went beyond to be helpful and friendly. This time, the clerk was unhelpful and had an unfriendly attitude. He said under his breath" oh boy" and said why don't you go in the store? I was so turned off by his attitude and rudness that I said forget and drove away. Why would I want to go in the store after that? I wanted to speak with the manager but figured I'll just write this. I never write reviews but the way I was treated it made a negative impression. He's the white gentleman with the bread. read more

I live in Middletown and have given this store multiple chances. I have gone inside and bought some wine only to feel like I am botheting the 4 guys that cashier . They never acknowledge you, nor say anything upon completion of transactionThey chat while you wait for 5 minutes. I am a patient person. I go to there drive up only to be met with a long wait while they chat. I ask if they are open and begin to get treated with a harsh unkind way Run from them way too many great places to buy from. I used to patronize this store for its convenience, and because I believe in shopping locally. But the last time I shopped there will be the last time, period. Here's what happened: I entered, walked toward the back of the store via the centre aisle, found the wine I wanted, & headed up the side aisle to the checkout. Nobody was waiting at the counter, so I walked right up to it. Both cashiers were busy. A couple of young men somewhere behind me started talking loudly about somebody pushy, on and on. I didn't realize at first that they meant me. The snark-fest got louder and louder, even as the men behind the counter turned to me and a man standing next to me. Then the yahoos loudly informed the clerk that it was that man's turn, that I had cut the line. Sure enough, there were people standing in the center aisle, including the Snark Bros. I apologized to the cashier, who ungraciously snarled that "the line is always in the center aisle." No sign saying so, and pretty lame marketing to block the high-ticket spirits displayed there. So having slunk around to the rear of the line, I repeated my apology when my real turn came. Not a civil word from either clerk, much less an expression of regret for the elder-shaming they'd condoned. This is the heart of my complaint: that instead of civilly pointing out that the line formed in the center aisle, the staff and customers alike spoke _about_ me rather than to me, and deliberately participated in this public shaming. read more

The owner is a racist, or at the very least an asshole. I came in with some friends and the white balding man at the front gave us the stank eye and watched us intently. Why yes, sir, non-white people have money to purchase alcohol as well. Or maybe you are just too stunned by the exotic beauty of our colored skin. It is pretty common for people in their mid-twenties to enter liquor stores. We picked out a large bottle and I went up to pay. He asked me for my ID and I handed it to him and I had my credit card in my other hand. He refused my ID because it expired a couple months ago on my birthday. I joked that my birthday was still up-to-date and he gave me a cold stare. I don't even drive anymore so I didn't realize my license expired. My friend helpfully offered his ID. I offered my credit card to pay and I was rudely refused with him saying, "No, HE has to pay." Wow, okay thanks for the patient and polite explanation. Two subsequent customers came through and bought alcohol after us and they weren't even ID'ed. My friend paid for the bottle and we were standing at the entrance for our friend to come back. He had the car keys and it was cold and raining outside. It was clear we were just waiting for our ride to come back. The guy brusquely walks past us and says, "We're closing in 7 minutes." I don't think we were in any way interfering with their closing measures anyway because he started turning out the lights before closing time anyway. Sorry if our ethnicness is bringing down the status of your store? Yelpers, I would recommend taking your business elsewhere to avoid patronizing the store of a bigot. read more
