We stayed at a local RI B&B and when we checked out, my son & his wife met us at Newport Vineyards. Newport Vineyards is a popular local spot, there were a few wedding parties being hosted while we on property. All of the party rooms were occupied so we stayed outside in the vineyards. Ever eat a grape straight from the vines? Sour Patch kids got their inspiration from grapes being used from vines. My wife ordered a wine sampler and I ordered a glass of Cabernet. We discussed getting a cheese plate but the dark clouds were rolling in. We stopped in the gift store, I bought a bottle of wine that my wife enjoyed, we hugged the kids and drove back to Long Island. This was a nice day, sipping wine outside in the beautiful Newport Vineyards. read more

The wine itself wasn't bad, but unfortunately, the service really took away from the experience. The bartenders were extremely rude and disrespectful, and the service was very slow. They didn't seem interested in working and were very unhappy. We weren't the only ones who felt this way. Others in line and at the winery were also frustrated with the service. Newport Vineyards was the perfect stop between where we were staying and downtown Newport. It was such a relaxing way to spend the evening. We did a wine flight so we could try a little bit of everything, and the Pinot was one of my favorites. We also ordered the kale salad, the cheese charcuterie board, and the gnocchi. The gnocchi was so good that we didn't leave a single bite. Actually, by the end of the meal, the only thing left on the table was a handful of cranberries from the salad. One of my favorite parts was grabbing our wine and walking over to the production area to watch the sunset with all of the huge wine tanks in the background. It made for a really unique setting. There's plenty of parking, a cute little gift shop where we even picked up some dog treats to take home, and the whole place just has a laid back vibe. Excellent from start to finish. We love farm to table restaurants, and you can tell the ingredients are of good quality here. We started with a flight (Gemini, pinot noir, and 2 ciders) which were all tasty. We had with 3 cheeses (camembert, bloomsday, and harvest moon) which were all very good. I got the steak and my girlfriend got chicken, both dishes were nice and flavorful. Dessert was a lava chocolate cookie with ice cream on top, which was fantastic Staff was friendly and attentive, and the ambience was lively but a moderate volume. So 5 star location and great outside grounds. Beer and wine pretty decent. Food was 2. star. Salmon was just ok with 2 small potatoes and less greens than most places serve parsley. Fish sandwich still had the blood vein in the cod and flavorless And bolognese had good flavor but 1/3 of the shells were stuck together and hard as rocks. Newport Vineyards & Restaurant was the most pleasant surprise! I planned to come with my husband and parents for the live music, expecting a nice atmosphere with so-so wines and food. My expectations were exceeded! We didn't use them but there are board games as soon as you enter to play with your tablemates. The food was great, the live music was good, and the wines were actually very good. Have you heard of Rhode Island wines? Because I sure hadn't. When I learned that flights are $15 on Wednesdays (instead of the usual $22) I got a second. I preferred the single varietals over the blends overall. We took home six bottles, all reasonably priced under $30, to share with friends back home. I can't fail to mention how helpful and patient our server was. My parents as a lot of questions. Had the best time at Newport Vineyard's Spring Fest! The live band set the tone, the food was delicious, and the wine? Even better. Loved being able to sample five different wines or beers with the tasting ticket,tough choices, but all worth it! Enjoyed Beer Week Brunch in the upstairs dining room today and had a wonderful time. Our server, Darcey, was outstanding! We could've ordered one of everything but opted for the loaded home fries, amber ale French toast, and the pork belly and grits. All of which was absolutely delicious. The menu was all beer infused and each dish had just enough to taste it while complimenting the other flavors perfectly. I also enjoyed a flight of beer with my meal and was most pleasantly surprised by the brown lager. Absolutely full of flavor. To end the meal I enjoyed an imperial porter and we spoilt the wake and bake board; a wonderful selection of fresh baked goods. While dining upstairs in one of their two round booths we also enjoyed some live music at the start of our visit which was a lovely way to be welcomed in. What a beautiful spot! We stopped in for a visit from NY and I was so surprised to see such a huge property. Not only is it a vineyard, but it's also a brewery, and there's a huge shop with adorable household items, olive oils, etc. My mom and I did a flight and shared a board. An awesome time as always at Newport Vineyards. The Chef's creations are unusual and always suprizingly amazing. I never heard of "Chicken of the Woods" mushrooms, but fried up crispy they made my pasta dish unforgettable. The clam chowder was also great, made the way it is supposed to be, fresh and without flour with chunks of real fresh clam (clearly not canned). My wife had roasted chicken with a beet based glaze, it was also tremendous. Dessert was Peach Creme Brulee. Who would even think of this combo !! Again a home run. I hope they will reopen the main dining, we miss all the Tapas/small plates. The variety of combinations there are always refreshing. Wine list is extensive, there own blends plus others. We enjoy visiting this vineyard regularly and have also attended several events here. It's a big space for both indoor and outdoor events. The food at events is great and of course, the wine is very enjoyable. They have a big retail selection featuring wine, clothing and some interesting kitchen items like dishes, hand towels, etc- definitely more than you'd normally see at a more traditional or smaller winery. The have Adirondack chairs outside and some games. Be forewarned that this vineyard is definitely not 21+ so on a recent visit we were annoyed by the number of children running around. One family even positioned themselves right in front of us and set up their kids to play lawn games in our general direction. Really not cool. Due to the kids, we often chose Nickle Creek (which is 21+) as alternative and only come here when in the area. read more

We had a really great time here this weekend. We did the tasting tour, which left a little to be desired. The "tour" lasted about ten minutes. Although the tour guide (who never introduced herself so I do not know what her name was) was incredibly knowledgeable. I appreciated how much knowledge she had about the process and the wine varieties. But the tour should be a little more involved for the money you pay for it. The store is awesome. They had so many really unique items , you could easily spend some money in there. The wine is excellent, too. I tried about four different ones at the tasting and not one was bad. Overall a positive experience and I look forward to coming back for lunch in june! read more

I think we would have preferred the terrace, which was still covered but set off to the side. Ambience is loud as they had a live band. I would have preferred a more quieter setting. Grounds were very pretty. Option to bring chairs and sit outside and order food. Gift shop is beautiful. Very few handicap spaces. Food was pretty good. Burger was lacking in flavor so I would recommend passing on the burger which is odd as other dishes had a great grill flavor. We had the platter that had an assortment of pretzels, homemade chips, tiny potato skins, candied bacon, and smoky wings. We enjoyed the platter. Also, had the steak skewers that were good. I enjoyed the Chardonnay and dry rose. Not sure I'll be back but worth a trip to try. read more

Visited the vineyard today to kickoff September ! Met friends for appetizers & flights of beer & wine. Service was great & the cheeseboard was great too!! It was a fun atmosphere then we went for a walk thru the grapevines & enjoyed the view of the vineyard from the Adirondack's. The gift shop is so nice with a great selection of all the wine or cider to bring home that you sampled. Had a great day I just would love if the boards had a little more on them so 2-4 could share more. The food that was on them really was farm to table from local farms & amazing but only had one of each item and although they were incredible not too shareable for the price! Newport vineyards has definitely been discovered and is much busier than it used to be but it still does a wonderful job with personalized experiences! I highly recommend escaping the crowds with a rent a row picnic! They reserve an entire row of vines for you and your group and set up a luxury picnic with pillows, umbrellas and charcuterie! The first time I visited Newport Vineyards was in February for a Yelp Winter Wine Series event. I enjoyed Newport Vineyards so much that after the event, I signed up to be a free Cru Club member. There is a sign up bonus of 100 points (equaling a $5 credit), and you earn 1 point for every dollar spent anywhere at the winery, Marketplace, or Taproot, and for every 100 points earned, a $5 credit will be placed on your account. I also receive Vineyard news and updates delivered right to my e-mail. The 22nd Annual Spring Festival on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 caught my eye. There were 2 sessions you could choose from (Session 1: 12pm - 2:30pm and Session 2: 3pm - 5:30pm). My friend and I chose session 1. The ticket includes admission to specific session, souvenir vineyard logo glass, and 5 sampling tickets to pick the wines or beers you'd like to taste from various bars. It was $35 for General Admission and as a Cru Club member, you can get a 20% discount with a special code. I sent an email to Newport Vineyards to ask for the code and they responded the same day. It was very easy to purchase the tickets online. The weather on Saturday, May 3rd, 2025 couldn't have been anymore perfect. It was sunny and breezy. My friend and I carpooled and were able to secure a spot near the entrance, but it looked like there were still many parking spots available. We walked in and gave the hostess my name. She gave us our souvenir vineyard logo glass, a sheet that lists all the wines and beer on the front and a map on the back, 5 tickets for the tasting, and a $5 off $25 or more coupon for the Marketplace. We first walked around to get a lay of the land: we saw Kingdom Axe RI, cornhole, Jenga, and other lawn games set up, took pictures of the vineyards, and saw a variety of seating options set up. The Naticks was playing live music and sounded great. We saw a round of the grape stomping at 12:45pm. We had to be strategic with our 5 sampling tickets since there were so many we wanted to try, but I went with the Frizzante, Pinot Grigio, Great White, Friz Rosé, and Hard Watermelon Cider. All the staff we talked to were very friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and beer. We also paid for a tasting of the White Cap. After our tastings, we purchased a bottle of the Great White Rosé at the Marketplace and finished it. I purchased a bottle of the Pinot Grigio to bring home. There were also great options for food for purchase-vineyard snack box, quahog chowder, pretzel, pizza, roasted steak sandwich, chourico on a stick, bbq chicken, oysters, and dessert. My friend and I got a vineyard snack box, pizza, chourico on a stick, lemon cream brioche donut, and a carrot cake cupcake. The vineyard snack box of local cheeses, solider bean hummus, summer jam, dried fruit, spiced nuts, root vegetables, house chips, and crostini was very filling and very good. This was definitely worth it. My friend and I literally laughed when we saw the size of the 3-cheese sicilian style pizza because it was just a piece and we thought it was going to be a personal pizza. However, it was very good and cheesy. The chourico was a little dry, but the mustard was a nice complement. The lemon cream brioche donut and a carrot cake cupcake were both very moist and satisfied our sweet tooth. Overall, I had such an amazing time at the 22nd Annual Spring Festival. There were some queues, but generally the lines moved quickly. Everything was spaced out and very organized. I am already looking forward to my next visit to Newport Vineyards. read more

Today we returned and I can honestly say that the cheese board today was excellent. Whether this was do to management or to the server I do not know but it was fresh and tasty. I've been here a few times, most recently for Father's Day. They were offering half off on beer flights, and I especially enjoyed the "Trip Around the Sun." For food, we ordered the burger, cheese pizza, and burrata salad--everything tasted great, though the pizza was a bit small. The service was excellent, and the ambiance was lovely, with both indoor and outdoor seating options. There's also a nearby pond, a trail, and games like cornhole, which add to the experience. This place is quite large, there is a spacious dining area on top, the wine tasting downstairs by the vineyard, a store and event space. The decor is rustic, with dark wood paneling and comfy leather couches by the entrance. We were a group of 6 and when we were seated the air conditioner was dripping water on one side of the table. Our server was very attentive and came over right away and we moved to a different table. The menu is pretty varied, they have a farm to table concept so the food is locally grown and changes often depending on what's available. We ordered a variety of dishes including the motha clucka, roasted eggplant, yellowfin tuna, burger and the half chicken. The half chicken takes 30 minutes to make but I thought it was worth the wait. The chicken was well seasoned, crispy skin and came with mashed potatoes on top of a delicious sauce. I tried some of the burger and thought it was also pretty good. My friend said the chicken in the motha clucka sandwich was a bit dry and the roasted eggplant was somewhat underwhelming. The yellowfin tuna was very good. Some of us tried out the wine flights which I definitely recommend if you want to taste different wines. Our server was very friendly and attentive. One trusim is that the quality of the wine is inversely proportional to how fancy the tasting facility is. The facility and the grounds are spectacular, and the wine isn't. As a life-long Californian I'm spoiled with wineries that produce a seemingly endless stream of decent to excellent wine. I don't know if it's a matter of terroir, climate, or winemaking skill, but the wines here leave much to be desired. We tried tasting all the reds and we dumped all of them. My husband came to the vineyard on a Saturday at 4pm. We bought a glass of wine and proceeded outside to walk along the vines. The vines are absolutely stunning and create beautiful photo ops. We then went upstairs to the restaurant for our 5:15pm reservation. We each ordered a flight for a wine tasting. We ordered the pretzels and the spinach dip to start. The pretzels were amazing. We loved the mustard that accompanied them. For our meals, we each ordered a half roasted chicken which came with mashed potatoes and zucchini. It was delicious and exactly what we needed after sampling all those wines. We then proceeded to the store and purchased a bottle of the Pinot Grigio. Newport Vineyards is a beautifully laid out wine making facility. With very knowledgeable staff who are very passionate and willing to share their knowledge with everyone in the room. The grounds and outdoor seating spaces are very beautiful and functional. At this event we were given a flight of four "mystery" wines to taste and guess what they were. We had a choice of three wines they could be for each category. The first was a "fizzy". The second, a white selection. Third was a Rose'. And finally a Red. I tasted all of them, all without any of the snacks to begin. Then I went up to the snack table, the best quality of local cheese, meats, pickles, etc. all were delicious and paired beautifully with the wines. This actually made it easier to guess the correct wines. The tour of the wine making process started around 7 or so, but I couldn't finish. The warm beef croquettes and the pumpkin cake dessert were very tasty!! Quite unexpected but appreciated! I ended my visit by tasting a couple of the sweet dessert wines and bought a bottle of White Cap, a nice white made with my favorite grapes, Niagara!! I also bought another favorite white, a bottle of Gewurtztraminer. I'll have to come back with the hubby and he can try out the beer they also brew, I didn't get to try that.
