For the second year in a row I stopped by Gold's while vacationing on Aquidneck Island in order to replenish my supply of Chi's Chi's Mexican Mudslide. The price at Gold's is $3 cheaper than I have discovered in Connecticut. Once again I found only a trio, now zero, and purchased each. I also checked their inventory of vino which I found a bit uppity, but eventually discovered a bottle of Hearst Ranch Winery's Cabernet Sauvignon that was steeply discounted. read more

Very courteous and helpful - since the Drizly app folded into Uber Eats I was worried I would not get the same kind of convenience, but these folks are awesome. I love my beer on the weekends but since having two spinal fusion surgeries it is very difficult for me to carry anything that weighs more than a few pounds. Owner was rude. He keeps harder to find bourbons under the counter and doesn't allow customers to purchase. He offers to friends and then says he doesn't have anything. After I asked and spent $80 there, he asked if I was a customer. Not anymore! read more

There was a line at the checkout when I came in, but the woman at the register was super fast and friendly and by the time I got to the register the line was gone. Went here to check out their selection of fine bourbons and limited release stock. Was asked if I "usually shop there". Having just moved to the area from another state, I answered no. The owner (I think) then promptly became unprofessional, agitated even, and told me he wouldn't sell me anything like that because I'm not a normal customer. If you're looking for limited release items, take your business elsewhere unless you are a frequent customer or want to be disrespected. Name calling too...see owner's statements. Ok, not usually the one to give bad reviews-store is ok, one employee seems to hate his job and likes to take it out on customers. Not just one visit, but several times I have been in and subjected to rude comments. Not again, done with Golds. Management take notice, this is how you lose customers... Just so we are on same page, the gentleman, apparently the owner?, was speaking to someone else when I came in, and rather than interrupt, I handed him a lottery ticket to cash as I went to get my wine selection, not a nip and I don't do laundry next door. He looked at me like "what's this?" I assumed working at a liquor store that has lottery he knew what to do with it. I asked if there was an issue, he threw the lottery ticket on the counter and said he wouldn't cash it. My mistake, if there were to be a next time, which there won't be, I would explain that he should take lottery tickets that are handed to him and cash them and thank his customer for coming in. Only store I can find the exact wine I like. Great price and excellent customer service. Offered to bring my bottles to my car. Should have said yes. Fell in parking lot, broke one bottle and my glasses. Bloodied hands (not bad). Muddy dirty and soaked with wine. Gold's employees came out cleaned up mess and replaced bottle of wine. This is our neighborhood liquor store and they are awesome!! We call and make our orders over the phone.. they also do curb side and you can pay over the phone so it is contactless if you want it to be!! I also don't think there has been a time I have gone in there that they have not offered to carry my purchase to the car for me..Also everytime I have mentioned wanting to try something or asking them to get it for us they always do if they can!!! This is my favorite liquor store on the Island. They always greet you warmly when you enter and give you a sincere thanks when you leave. Although the space is small, they have something for every taste and budget. They are very helpful and will even carry your purchase out to the curb if your hands are full. Also, they have frequent wine and spirits tastings, discounts on 12 or more bottles of wine and a "rewards" program that gives you a credit after a certain volume of purchases. On the way to Newport, we always grab snacks at the Middletown Stop and Shop then walk over to Gold's for some adult beverages before heading to Newport to hit up the beach or have a picnic. What really sets this Liquor Store apart is the knowledge and service that comes from a passionate owner. I'll be the first to admit that I know little about wine. I wish I knew more! That's where owner Jason comes in. His passion and knowledge about wine, beer and spirits is exactly what I need to make the right choice - and not just fall back on the same old Sauv Blanc that I always get (it's Oyster Bay in case you were wondering). He'll be having you say "Yes way Rosé" or "I CAN drink tequila in this fancy margarita" in no time! And one more thing, we relied on Gold's Wine and Spirits for several large events we were hosting this summer - a Memorial Day cocktail party, Bachelorette party, Rehearsal Dinner, Wedding, and Funeral. For each event we called Gold's, explained the event and number of people - Jason made a calculated plan based on audience, our budget and even type of weather! On top of all of this, he even delivered to our venue! You can imagine what a relief it is to not have to worry about making these decisions under times of intense planning and stress.
