I understand that different stylists may have different rates, but clear communication about pricing changes is essential, especially when an appointment is reassigned by the salon at the last minute. Her tone and demeanor made the entire experience uncomfortable, and I ended up leaving before the service even started. I left feeling deflated and doubting what I had originally wanted to do with my hair. It was clear she did not want to work that evening, but if that was the case, a quick text or reschedule would have saved us both time. On a positive note, when I called her boss afterward, she was very kind, apologetic, and understanding. Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing encounter, especially considering how many great stylists there are in the South Bay. Try someone else at the salon who has a better attitude.

I have never been treated so rudely as I was the other day when, on a friend's recommendation, I walked into AR salon to see if we could get an appointment to get my daughter's (very long) hair cut. (I'd tried to make the appt on the phone and left a message that was never returned.) When we walked in the girl at the front desk was applying eyeliner and looked beyond annoyed that we'd had the audacity to disrupt her. I explained that we wanted to see if anyone was available for a cut and she pretty much rolled her eyes and went off to ask some asian man. The asian man skulked over, said "what exactly did you want to DO to her hair" in the SNOTTIEST tone EVER - so bad that my 9 year old kid HID behind me - and then he muttered something and said "No. I can't take her" and walked away without another word. Um. WHAT? The receptionist just stood there and I said "Can you maybe see if someone ELSE can help us?" She went through the motions and came back and said "No, everyone else is busy." OK I GET THAT - but can I MAKE AN APPOINTMENT FOR SOME OTHER TIME? It was painful. You'd think we walked in filthy dirty, with KKK masks on the way they treated us. Guess winning the BEST OF THE BEACH or whatever award they won goes to your head, 'cause I'd never even consider taking my business there again. I never put reviews on Yelp, but I feel compelled to write up AR Salon out of sheer gratitude. For me, AR Salon is as good as it gets. I moved to Hermosa from Beverly Hills, and continued going to my salons in Beverly Hills for 9 months, convinced I wouldn't get the same quality if I went somewhere local. After trying AR Salon on a recommendation, I was so wrong. Arnil, the owner, is an amazing find. And he has built a team that are equally talented in my experience. I'm in an industry where my hair needs to look great all the time, and Arnil understands that. He does exactly what I ask, and doesn't let me leave until it's perfect. His attention to detail and pride in his work is second to none. I'm blonde, and his coloring and highlighting is truly an art- I get compliments all the time. And his cuts are great and grow out very well. Meghan is also amazing for Brazilian blowouts!! Besides the quality of work, Arnil bends over backward to get me in last minute when I have an event and need a touch up. And with all that said, the prices are crazy low. Amazing. Truly a gem. Arnil, owner at AR Salon is the most talented and meticulous hairdresser I have ever known. I have been going to him for years and can't imagine using anyone else. He really listens to what you want and then helps to create the hairstyle that fits your desires and works naturally with your hair. I have always wanted to be able to step out of the shower, brush through my hair and go. Arnil is the only person that has been able to give me an amazing cut that allows me to do this. His years of expertise and practice are obvious and his haircuts display a level of talent and style that is hard to match. He pays incredible attention to detail and I love my hair everytime. A google favorite place"...caught up my attention the most. I thought that if google made that input , it means something good. It was AR Salon . I did not have any doubt to make an appointment and see by myself his hair extensions product. As soon as I walked in, I had the oportunity to talk to several customers having the hair infusions, most of them were using it for a long time and everybody agreed in the same point, that since they have the hair infusions, their own natural hair was steadily growing out that did not happen with the other extensions offered by other shops. Great!!!!!!!!! I recently got my hair cut at AR SALON by the lovely and talented Jules She was AMAZING! I came in with hair that I thought could never be saved, my hair was fried and butchered all over. I am trying to grow my hair out and was really scared about losing too much length (even if it was fried and splitting). Jules was able to remove all the crunchy hair, completely re-shape and make my hair over without losing the length!! AR Salon is just the best place! Arnil, is the stylist that me and my daughter go to, and he is amazing! We live in Oklahoma, but only get our hair cut when we are in the in the LA area. The staff is amazing and they are all so sweet! My daughter wants to be a hair dresser when she grows up, and Arnil ended up giving her a manican head, so she could cut and play with the hair. If you have thick hard to manage hair Arnil is the person for you! He has been doing my hair for years. I won't let anyone else touch it. I finally had him do a Brazilian blow out. Life changing! What used to take 40 minutes to straighten and dry now takes 10. The best around!!!! read more

I've also had him give me a blowout a time or two for special occasions, and as always, they look fantastic. Gilberto's pricing is on par, he will take his time with whatever you want done, and is flexible on scheduling where he can be. He is one of the best stylists I've ever had. If it was done incorrectly, I would have a carrot head. My appointment was with Tiffany. Very girly name, so I was expecting someone girly. To my pleasant surprise, she was a very natural and easy going girl- a hippy, if I can say so. She was sweet, funny and most importantly, wanted the best for my hair. My treatment started with a light massage and her bleaching my hair. I've never bleached before so I was nervous but she explained the whole process to me. I was put under the heat (on a hot day) and I was sweating like a pig. She brought me wine to cool me down and I enjoyed the scenery in their little backyard garden. After washing my bleached hair, my nightmares came true. My roots were platinum blonde but my red turned bright orange. The ladies in the salon kept looking at my like I was insaneeeee. I was calm though because I trusted Tiffany. She added blue/purple dye to my hair to cancel out the orange and I came out with grey/brownish hair. It wasn't what I was hoping for but she said the color will fade with each wash. She was correct. As I washed my hair, it became lighter. It was like I got another dye job! I loved how my co-workers would ask me, almost on a daily basis, if I changed my hair again. It's been a week and I'm extremely satisfied with my dye job. I'm afraid that one day, when I wash it, it'll turn orange- but I'm praying to the hair gods that this won't happen. Tiffany (which I'd rather call Crow because she likes that name better) did an amazing job. It costed me $130 and was worth every penny. I also bought their shampoo and conditioner which was about $50 but worth the investment to keep my color in and healthy. She said I could come back for highlights to obtain the platinum I wanted, but I'm completely fine staying like this. Thanks Crow!

Unfortunately, from the moment I arrived, the experience was disappointing. Viki was on her phone when I walked in and barely acknowledged me. Before the appointment, I had texted her pictures of my hair along with several Pinterest inspiration photos, but when I showed them again in person, she acted as if she had never seen them. Even though she said she could do what I wanted, her attitude was dismissive and negative throughout. She made it seem like she was doing me a favor by taking the appointment, even though that was the time her boss had scheduled. Her tone and demeanor made the entire experience uncomfortable, and I ended up leaving before the service even started. I left feeling deflated and doubting what I had originally wanted to do with my hair. It was clear she did not want to work that evening, but if that was the case, a quick text or reschedule would have saved us both time. On a positive note, when I called her boss afterward, she was very kind, apologetic, and understanding. Overall, this was an incredibly disappointing encounter, especially considering how many great stylists there are in the South Bay. Try someone else at the salon who has a better attitude.
