The salon was already pretty full so I expected a wait but I was pleasantly surprised to be seated immediately! The manicure and pedicure were done at the same time meaning I was in and out in about 1.5 hours. The staff here are so nice and were very accommodating of my requests for custom nail art and had my inspo picture up the entire time for their reference. It took a few tries to find the right green color but I never felt rushed or pressured to make a decision. This is the first salon I've been to that truly took extra time at the end of the manicure to freshen up the gel edges and make sure my skin was clean (not all places do this!!). I've been getting my nails done at Ara Spa for some time, and I can't say I'm unhappy with the quality of the services--they're pretty skilled at what they do, although sometimes they're in a rush. What ultimately made me stop going, however, was the constant pressure to pay in cash. One staff member (who I believe may be the owner) repeatedly asked me to pay cash, even making comments like, "Next time pay cash," whenever I used my credit card; or asking as soon as my service was over, "You're paying cash, right?" Nowadays, many people rarely carry cash, and virtually every business accepts credit cards or Apple Pay without making customers feel uncomfortable. I found the repeated insistence on cash payments very inappropriate and off-putting. I was also uncomfortable with the attitude toward tipping. If you don't leave what they consider a sufficient tip, they make it very obvious. On one occasion I accidentally entered a 10-cent tip instead of $10 when paying by card, and the same woman actually ran after me on the street to point it out. While I understand that the mistake needed to be corrected, the overall experience reinforced the feeling that customers are being pressured. Tipping is appreciated, but it should never feel mandatory or be a source of embarrassment. Considering that I typically spent close to $100 per visit and always tipped generously, I found this approach disappointing. In the end, I decided to take my business elsewhere. Super friendly service!! They take walks-ins, and even though they were super busy for the holidays, they made time to see me. I was not waiting for a long time for them to seat me. The deluxe pedicure includes a paraffin wax, that I did not get at first .. I had to ask them for it. The massage was short probably 7 minutes total.
