Good spot for Japanese food! The garlic teriyaki was grilled on a hot plate with sliced onions, with a great sweet and garlicky taste. The vibe inside was also great, with a nice interior and very friendly service. My only gripe with the restaurant would be the portions of the food. Little baffled how this sushi place has 4.4 stars before I dined in. I have a 3 star review as the yellow tail (hamachi) was not fresh and the overall taste of the roll was fishy. I took out the hamachi **pictured to eat one roll and then I realized the spicy tuna was also the same. Needless to say, I took only that one bite and didn't eat the rest. It made feel skeptical to eat the other raw things I ordered. I ended up taking a small bite of the salmon nigiri and I wasn't gonna eat the rest. One piece of the Unagi and also tasted fishy. I actually had high hopes so I was disappointed. I ended up asking for the check and just a to go container to take home the rest of the Agedashi tofu only. The servers were friendly and apologized for getting one of my orders wrong in the beginning. They were open to feedback which was immediately communicated to the manager. I didn't request for it, but they ended up scrapping the cost of the summer roll ($14) from my tab and an additional $2 discount, which I appreciated. I personally won't be a returning customer, but I don't necessarily feel that others shouldn't give them a try as I'm sure, they have other things on their menu that would be more appealing. read more

We ordered takeout and got two miso soups, the Yummy Roll, Crunch Roll, and Hot Night Roll. Everything was good.. but flavorful enough that I didn't even need to dip into my usual soy sauce and wasabi, which might mean the rolls were a little on the saltier side for my taste. Inside, the space is small and intimate, but I noticed the chefs working with a lot of passion and attention to detail, which I really appreciated. The staff were also incredibly kind and welcoming, even just during a quick pickup. Looking forward to coming back and trying more from the menu next time we're in town! read more

I was in town just for the night. Went out to run an errand and my Uber driver recommended Ara Sushi and said it was his favorite in town. It wasn't bad but it wasn't excellent either. It took a while to get initial service from the waitress but then towards the end of my dinner the two waitresses were tag teaming for me. I liked the combination tempura that was very tasty. The tempura was light and crunchy. I always go for the cucumber rolls on any sushi menu and the summer roll was just OK. Everyone in the restaurant was ordering the Bulgogi which comes out sizzling like fajitas so I had to try it. I also thought it was just ok. I was hoping for a bit more flavor overall. This review is based off of three visits and experiences. The First time me and my family went here the food was great and customer service was wonderful no complaints all of us finished all our food even the picky tween ;) Unfortunately on the second visit food was not as good but still acceptable but we all ended up getting very sick after. I believe in things happen so we went again a third time and after the experience it will be our last. We ordered our food and, there was small hiccup with the order and there being a extra item, but they willingly took it back no issue and did not charge us or at least I don't think they did we had to rush to pay and get home. (Explained why further down). The food this time was horrible it seems most of the items we ordered where thrown together with no care and cheap supsitutes where used. Example one dish was suppose to have salmon but was replaced with uncleaned shrimp instead. another was suppose to have two types of sauce but came with completely different ones. and over all the food was really bland and even the wasabi was so weak that there was zero heat or bite at all. and our waitress seamed agitated which was not helping either. at the end we left more than half our food on the table because our stomachs where starting to hurt and we need to leave. so we paid and rushed home to all of us getting really sick and now being left in pain and worse of all still hungry after spending $100 for a meal. read more

The sushi is authentic and very delicious. My only recommendation is to cover up the "Bon Appetit" writing on the wall. This is a Japanese restaurant, not a French restaurant. Maybe putting the translation in Japanese would be more appropriate or even the Ara Sushi logo on the wall with chop sticks instead of a fork and spoon. Also, the chairs with tennis balls are really cheap looking. If you're concerned with scratching the floor maybe invest in felt pads to place underneath the chair legs. The pale pink walls make you feel like you're in an insane asylum. A warm white would feel more welcoming. Lastly, Betza is an awesome server! We will be back! read more

I felt the owners should no so I sent them an email rather than write a bad review. I tried then again last week. 100 bucks of sush. Was not good. Gummy rice. Compact sushi. Clearly premade - no different textures and not fresh. The people that run this place are so nice but I would not recommend the sushi. Go to aki for good quality sushi.
