I'd have to echo the comments of many other reviewers. The service is slow and unprofessional and the food is mediocre at best. A lot of my friends really like this place but I'm not so enthusiastic. I was there last night and the dining area was noisy and chaotic. A lot of families with very small children. There are much better places to dine in Fairfield. The prior owner (different name) ran a tight ship and the place was clean and professional but a little stiff as there were so few customers. Now the new owners have taken it to the opposite extreme. They have more business than they can handle and the place leaves a lot to be desired. read more

Visited here with work colleagues who wanted to eat Mexican. The restaurant is nice and clean and the staff were pleasant and attentive. That is all the good things that I can say. I ordered the fish taco meal. It looked very nicely presented but it is possibly one of the worst meals that I have ever eaten. The Mexican rice had little flavour and was overcooked to a fluffy mush. Refried beans were barely hot, so much so that the cheese sprinkled on top had not even begun to melt. The lettuce on the tacos was fresh and crisp but the fish was vile! It tasted old and dry and was positively chewy. The guacamole was tasteless. The only goo thing to eat was the chips and salsa. I doubt we will be in Mt Pleasant again for some time but we shall definitely miss this place. read more

We go to Aranda's almost every week. I'm curious to know what the bad review writers ordered, because perhaps they do better with the more authentic mexican food than with the americanized stuff??? We usually order the bistek a la mexicana, the pollo al ajillo, and/or the pollo a la diablo, and all are delicious, fresh, and flavorful. Have also ordered the steak quesadilla grille, fajitas, enchiladas, and the tostada, which were really yummy. I would say definitely stick with steak or chicken, as the one disappointing meal I've had here was when I ordered ground beef in something - yuck. The chips are homemade and not salted, which is kind of refreshing, and the salsa is flavorful with just a little spice. The margaritas are delicious, too. I would agree that the service is spotty at best - they've definitely had a hard time finding enough good waitstaff. read more

Wonderful authentic Mexican food! We love it! Best in area. We go every time we can!

The food is actually pretty decent but the service is terrible and the waitstaff have attitude. We waited for nearly 20 minutes for a waitress to stop by. She wasn't overly friendly. She never brought us any refills on chips and several of the staff had a "I don't give a shit" attitude. I won't be back because of the service. read more

Terrible customer service! We got sat right away. Waited for almost 10 minutes and no one came to even see what we wanted to drink. They weren't busy at all. Maybe 10 tables with people at them in the whole place. Some people got sat at the table right next to us and a server came over right away with their drinks in hand and they didn't even order them at the table. Then he took their food order right away while we're still sitting there waiting for a damn drink! Almost 20 minutes had gone by at this point. We finally had to flag a worker to get our order taken. When the girl finally came, we ordered our drinks and food at the same time. Our daughter wanted a taco with just meat and cheese, nothing else on it. We then still waited to get our drinks. After eating a bunch of the chips and salsa we wanted to wash it down. We again had to flag someone down to get our drinks, which was just water. When our food finally came, after almost a half an hour of being there, the child's taco was full of lettuce and tomatoes. So we sent it back and when she got the taco with meat and cheese it was cold. They just took off the lettuce and tomatoes and put more cheese back on. Didn't even throw it in the microwave for a few seconds. She just ate it knowing she'd have to wait another half hour if we complained more. Pretty sad for an eight year old to realize the service is that bad. The fajitas were really ridiculously plain. Like no seasoning at all. Just meat and veggies. Boring. This place is not good. I don't know what these other reviews are saying about it being the best because it's far from it. We've got an excellent Mexican restaurant back home that is 100% better than this. Don't go. There's other places in town. I'm sure McDonald's would be better and at least you wouldn't have to wait to get your food at Mickey D's. read more

Food and margarita was blah. Service was ok till we got our food. The waiter never came back. We had to go to register to get the check.

Will never return. Service was slow and we never were checked on after we got our food. Food took forever, when we received it mine had lettuce on it although the menu didn't state this. They brought me a new burrito that was correct but within two hours of eating here I became extremely sick. Another person with us ate the exact same thing as me but wasn't sick, as with all the others. If I could give this place negative stars I would. read more

Well this is unfortunate. I really enjoyed my first visit here, my husband and I split a shrimp burrito and got great service - chips and salsa on the house, ordered queso with jalapeños - great tea - good experience. About a week later we came back and got the exact same thing, and we brought our friend. At 3pm they were doing dinner prices so it was way more expensive. Our burrito was smaller, cold, and we were both sick afterwards. So about a week after that, only because taco Johns has terrible taco salads and that's what we wanted, I give arandas another shot. But I am disappointed - the taco salad is smaller than taco Johns (unless you complain, as I did) and had no lettuce. They don't give out chips and salsa for to go orders. The service has been sub pat the last two times and service is poorer as well. Needless to say we won't be coming back and we will tell everyone who asks - avoid Arandas!! read more

This place has always been the best Mexican in town, even back when it was only available inside the gas station. Now that they have their own full service restaurant, I couldn't be happier. Their ground beef burrito suizo is great - I have no clue what kind of seasoning they use but it's awesome. The fajitas are also good. Two reasons it's a 4 star instead of 5 - the margaritas are average at best and the salsa is inconsistent quality sometimes great and other times rather bland. read more

Excellent selection of Entrees, and wonderful flavors and seasoning. There are many dishes that are my favorites. Their sides and appetizers are really delicious. The staff is very friendly. It is the best Mexican anywhere in the regional area. It has become very difficult to find great Mexican restaurants, and this is one. read more

Best restaurant in Fairfield. Super cheap, excellent tacos and everything else is fresh and fabulous. We eat here almost once a week.

We ate here on RAGBRAI. Needless to say, the place was swamped. While the food took a while to come out, it was really good. To pay for the meal you go up to the register and tell the hostess what you had. The waiters don't bring you a bill. The service was as good as can be expected (2 waiters for our section). We had the Chicken Fajitas, came out steaming! The rice and beans were excellent as was the guacamole and sour cream sauce. Would definitely go back. read more
