Surrounded by fields and a couple of cows looking at you through the window, you'll find a lil restaurant with fast service and some delicious creamy white queso. We were looking for a warm, good meal on a drive leaving Lubbock. Normally we'd eat before leaving Lubbock, but today we tried something new. Chips were served warm and refilled in good timing. We both got the #24. Enchiladas, rice, and beans were all a bit bland. Topped it with some of the queso and it made for a good comfort meal. Prices were good, restaurant was clean! Seat yourself. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat here, but I don't regret giving it a try! Probably will eat at one of my favorites in Lubbock next time, but if you need a warm quick meal this isn't a bad option! Overall, I'd give them 3.5 stars based on the food itself. read more

Their food is absolutely great, no complaints at all. The interior needs some work, lots of the booths have torn up seats, and the window blinds are always very dirty. They could replace every blind in the place for under $100, and they should, either that or do a major cleaning of what they have. Secondly, up until about a year ago, if you waited 5 minutes after you placed your order, it was a long time. Now if you get it in under 15 minutes, it's a miracle. And they are not any busier than usual, so that's no reason. I don't know what happened there, but it takes forever to get your food now. Hopefully they get it together, because many have said the same thing, and they will start losing customers of they don't get it straightened out! But as far as food goes, it gets 10 stars out of 5. read more

Me and my husband were so excited to find decent breakfast burritos without having to go into Lubbock, but the past few months they have messed up our orders every single time we've gone. We will no longer be going here, there's no point in spending almost $20 for burritos neither of us want to eat. This is local place in Slaton. Not bad with the food. Three stars because this is my third time here and for some reason their floor is always trashed. I have visited at very different hours and days. Once at 3 in the afternoon with only three tables being occupied on a Wednesday. Another at around 6 in the evening with five customers on a Monday. And this time at 2 pm on a Sunday with half of the store plus their drive thru out to the street. Wouldn't you think someone could walk around with a broom and dust pan? The first time I visited I just thought they needed to catch up on cleaning. But, no. It's the same no matter when, I'm guessing. Plus the little girl ringing up my order screamed and giggled when she saw one of her friends arrive and ran off after I signed my bill. The waitresses are very sweet but as far as the prices we should expect a bit more cleanliness. And if you order to go shouldn't your meal automatically come with chips and salsa? read more

We had a fabulous experience eating at Arandas. Off the highway stop on the way home from a ski trip. The service was good. My street tacos were perfect and my husband's dinner, Texas Delight, didn't last long on the plate. Wonderfully fresh and fast. Stopped for a early dinner and was seated right away with chips, salsa and drinks within minutes. First thing to know is the online menu is lacking lots of detail compared to the in-house menu. Lots of choices with your typical Mexican fare but they offer many grilled items. We had a chimichanga and a chili relleno plates, beef was seasoned well and tortillas fresh. Standard drink options available as well as bottled soft drinks from Mexico. Nice mom and pop shop that we visited while driving from visiting the Grand Canyon to Austin. We ordered our dinner to go because we had some time to make up on the road. Hubby ordered an al pastor burrito and I ordered their Texas plate. The burrito was a nice size, definitely filling. The al pastor had a different take, a little more tomato flavor, and definitely saucy. They didn't skimp out on the protein for sure. Hubby enjoyed it has we continued our drive. The Texas plate is basically like a combination fajitas plate. It had chicken, shrimp, and carne asada pieces with veggies. It's usually smothered in queso, but I asked for it on the side. I also got a side of tortillas to complete the meal. It was quite tasty. I'm glad I was able to control how much queso was in my dish. Definitely had a lot of smoke flavor. I wish I was able to take pictures of our food, but lighting in the car wasn't that great and we dove in as soon as we hit the road because we were starving. Superb! Fresh flour tortillas that leave that flour film on your fingers. Yum. Cheese is quality, not greasy and not a cheap sharp cheddar. Beans are homemade with plenty of flavor. Breakfast Sausage is lean not greasy. Full of flavor over here! read more

My review is limited because I'm a pescatarian, but I can vouch for the potato, egg and cheese burrito and for the cheese and jalapeno nachos, which are both very good. I love the bottled Mexican soft drinks. Try the Mexican Fresca--grapefruit-flavored and sweetened with pure cane sugar! I've only been twice, but the service seems to be on-point. Oh--the hot sauce is unique and delicious, almost as if it's made by steeping dried ancho or New Mexico chilies in hot water and adding adobo or something. Way different than the usual jalapeno-tomato based offerings around here. I kid you negative here-- their toast is the best, up there with The Pecan Grill in the Overton Hotel. We love Arandas. When I don't want to cook, it is our go-to. The prices are reasonable, the servings are generous. Every Sunday morning, we order breakfast burritos or migas. We call in and 5-10 minutes later the food is ready. Often times I split mine in half and save it for Monday morning breakfast. Their lunch/dinner burritos are even bigger. Mondays thru Fridays they have specials. I have yet to find anything on the menu that isn't good. It's an extensive menu. I've probably tried a dozen things or more from fajitas, carne guisada, carne asada, or taco to every kind of enchiladas you can think of. They also have a bunch of things I had never heard of including nopales which is cactus and really tasty. read more

I love to go to local places when I'm driving through a small town and I love to see local business prosper. But gawd damn. This place was terrible. The water tasted awful. It took 15 minutes to just get queso out. Chicken tenders took 35 minutes to come out and the waiter didn't know a thing on the menu. Not good stuff. We are driving to Austin from a camping trip in colorado, and after checking out the City park in Slaton and realizing it didn't have a camping area, we decided to grab some dinner and move on to the next town to eat it and find a place to stay. We have our dog with us so the drive thru at Arandas was handy, and a friendly clean cut guy in an Arandas polo took our order. Coming from a small business family I thought it was impressive they had uniform shirts! Now the food-- we ordered a cheese chile relleno dinner, a barbacoa taco on flour, and an al pastor taco on corn, and they were phenomenal! The tacos were full of great tender stewed meat, no gristle or unrendered fat like you sometimes get when you try out a new taco place. Very full flavor, salty and caramely and delicious, awesome with the spicy red salsa they sent along. The relleno was super cheesy, a little spicy, not too oily or dry. Rice n beans on the side were decent too. We really lucked out with this small town takeout meal- it was among the best of our trip. read more
