Overall, the grounds and amenities were well-maintained. There were some fun organized activities like an ice cream social, karaoke, train rides and a pancake breakfast in the morning. We interacted with several staff members and all of them were pleasant and welcoming, but our favorite was Tim. Not only was he incredibly easy on the eyes, but he started up the communal fire pit and spent time chatting and roasting marshmallows with a bunch of us. We will definitely be back!

We've been lucky and have had good spots with larger outdoor spaces. The staff is very friendly and they do try to be helpful, although a couple folks should not assist with backing up trailers. We could not even wash the dishes before we rolled out this morning. The bathrooms are pretty hit or miss- one day they were lovely and clean- the next morning, one shower was clogged with a giant plug of hair and the other was stopped up with gray water. Not sure why so inconsistent. (I do blame the customer who left behind the giant plug of hair- campers should clean up after themselves) For the high prices they charge- they should really improve on the basics.

All of that was included. The rooms were old, but nice. Bunk for the kids and queen bed for us. We stayed in one of the lodges. There was a common room with a fireplace and some games we utilized, too. We had a mini fridge and microwave. We used those for storing breakfast and lunch items and the microwave for popcorn at night. Was a nice stay! The cross country skiing trails were great, even with the limited snow that this year has brought. Great workout and loads of fun. We did that with our kids for a few hours each day (January stay).

Ours especially enjoyed the summer sledding hill. The zip line was also popular, as were horseback riding and mini golf. It is now late season and a number of activities were closed - canoes, the pool. However there was so much to do, we did not really miss these. There was so much we didn't get to but ran out of time -- craft room, roller-skating, hikes. There are restaurants available. The place is beautiful, can't wait to go back for fall leaf season or winter sports.

Sometimes trips are hard to plan in advance, and we were ISO a spot with first come, first serve sites. Kudos to the universe for allowing the stars to align in our favor! + Along the Middle St. Vrain Creek + Two vault toilets located centrally between campsites + One fire ring (with grates) per site + Firewood available on property for $9 + Sizable tent pad, bear locker and picnic table + Walking distance to trailhead + Reservable and non-reservable campsites + 8 people allowed per campsite + Pets allowed We had an extremely enjoyable camping trip a few weeks back. Roughly an hour and a half from our house in Denver, Peaceful Valley Campground made us feel like we were thousands of miles away from civilization. For reference, the campground is about 8 miles away from the ever-popular Brainard Lake Recreation Area. We did experience some rain on Saturday afternoon which was a damper (pun intended). But because of that rain we were treated to the most spectacular rainbow and sunset. It was magical, just look at the pictures I got. The consensus was that we'd come back in a heartbeat next year. There's nothing better than going to sleep at night with the sound of a vibrant creek in the background. We're creekside campers and Peaceful Valley delivered an A+ trip for us!

We all collectively arrived on Sunday and were greeted by the kindest, warmest staff, the most spectacular setting in a beautiful valley surrounded by the vast Rocky Mountains. This is truly an authentic old school dude ranch. Beautiful and quaint little log cabins scattered throughout the property to offer just enough privacy yet at the same time you felt like part of a small intimate village that left the rest of the world behind in the best way. Dinners are all served family style in the main dining hall, there are multiple community gathering areas to chat, watch the children play and run, watch the wranglers get the horses ready for the day and rest and relax before the next activity. The days start early with a full cooked to order breakfast then off to a trail ride (the wranglers tell some fantastic stories as well), fishing, white water rafting, hiking or even mountain biking. You are paired with your horse for the week and the staff goes to great lengths to make sure you are paired with the right horse. They have horses for EVERY skill level. (Beware -you WILL form a bond over horsey treats, nuzzles and head rubs and it will be really REALLY hard to say goodbye) There is entertainment in the evenings like campfires, music and a super fun variety show. The kids will also put on a really fun rodeo. There will be early morning breakfast rides, dinner rides and your heart will find a new love for the great outdoors, newfound friends who will now feel like family and the Fosha's and their incredible and dedicated staff -many of which have returned every summer for years (when asking one wrangler about her experience working at the ranch-she got tears in her eyes and expressed her love and sentiment for the Fosha's becoming a second family and how the ranch felt like home). A truly authentic dude ranch, surrounded by spectacular mountains, dotted with rustic private cabins barns, horse rings and trails, a pool, fishing pond, volley ball (kids loved!) There were programs for everyone, including my 2 year old grandson (riding and daycamp) and my daughter, the experience rider (English). Two trail rides un in the mountains were available daily. There were evening programs: sing-a-longs and wrangler talent night, etc.) The food was great, whether in the mess hall or outside at the chuck wagon. It was basic, plentiful and hearty. The staff, from the "wranglers" to the cooks, to the people who maintainer everything, were welcoming, and very good at what they do. The owners especially are very friendly, mixing in with everyone. We thought it was not expensive for what we received and heard there were other places that were much more glamorous and not as family friendly. We were only 1 mile away from the Rocky Mountain National Park. It was quiet here and we enjoyed watching Netflix as well as cable TV at night. Would definitely go back!

Not on the lake nor on the river, but close enough to both to hear the water rushing, and smell the breeze off the water! High up enough to see Osprey roosting, which happened to be the name of the cozy cabin we were in. Ultra modern and rustic at the same time. It made me fall in love with the blue of beetle-kill pine when finished. It had all the things you'd want in a room, microwave, 2 burner cook top, fridge, and sink. dishes, coffee maker, (and good coffee) The management was very friendly and accommodating, greeting us on check in by first name, and answering questions happily. If you are looking for a nice secluded yet close in place, I strongly recommend this cabin and this company.

So a weekend is an additional $10 on top of your site fee and reservation fee. Snow - there was still some there in july and it could come again as early as august.. you never know! Bring layers and big boots for hiking! Pros: It is within walking distance to the lake. The views are absolutely amazing. All the peaks! The clouds and fog did seem to descend right on top of you, so be prepared to be wet occasionally Tons of hiking trails! Beautiful - did i mention that? We have traveled the world, and have never been spoken to in this matter. He is a jerk to say it in the nicest way possible. So I could go on and on, but I think you get the jest of our stay. - Unpleasant, uncomfortable, and truly not ADA accessible. (inaccessible road, hallways, shower) Needless to say, we won't be returning, recommending or boasting about our stay at Valhalla. Cabin #24 was below mediocre at best, and the customer service was downright disturbing (to say the least).
