We were checked in by Elizabeth, who was just delightful, plus she was very welcoming to our dog and gave us great info on where we could walk Jake. (We chose the very grassy and clean Memorial Park just a short walk away.) She also mentioned the Sunflour Café down the street for breakfast, and it was AMAZING! Homemade, fresh everything, and the cinnamon roll might be the best pastry I've ever eaten. Our room was decorated with real books, duck decor, soft towels, and a very comfortable bed with plenty of pillows. I did have a little trouble with getting the correct water temperature in the shower (I was warned), and Elizabeth again was very helpful and apologetic that they hadn't gotten that fixed perfectly just yet. There is a bit of noise from the intersection just outside, but all in all, the three of us would love to stay here again.

I visited in early May of this year journeying through southern Colorado visiting my lifelong goal of reaching every national park in the country. So....just coming from Great Sand Dunes National Park exploring for the day, Spruce Lodge was only 66 miles away. Although South Fork is just a drive through town, ending my eventful day here was ideal for me. Also, the following day I was heading to Mesa Verde National Park 137 miles away but Spruce Lodge was situated right in between these 2 great parks so I highly recommend staying here especially because there's no towns or cities nestled in between if you were to bypass South Fork....if you're headed west like I was, you head straight into the mountains for a while. In my opinion...Spruce Lodge had aspects of part bed and breakfast with a villa and rustic feel to its rooms. Lol, I was sort of enamored with the looks of it all that I photographed my room and the grounds outside to post on Yelp explaining how cozy and clean I felt the accommodations were. Simply trying to explain...Spruce Lodge is a little mom and pop spot to stay at located right off the main road in South Fork. I checked in at the main lodge and was kindly given the keys to my room by the innkeeper. My room was based back outside the lodge towards the left hand side. It was connected as part of a townhouse/condo which was an unexpected surprise because all I was asking for was a simple place to sleep for the night. And yet I go so much more. My room inside had a cabin vibe to it and felt very clean. Also, there were 2 chairs next to the porch outside which I sat down on after dinner soaking up the setting sun before heading to bed. There is a BBQ restaurant right next door to the lodge that looked interesting but unfortunately the one night I was staying on a Monday evening, was the one night the BBQ place was closed. Still, the innkeeper recommended The Old Firehouse Restaurant just down the road and it was more than suffice. Old Firehouse serves American food offering sandwiches, burgers, soups, salads, pizza and classic dinners such as meat loaf and pot roast. I'd recommend going here if you're not a BBQ person or if the BBQ restaurant next door is closed. Finally, Spruce lodge has free continental breakfast offered starting 6:30 am. If you're interested in a full breakfast, I believe there's a restaurant that you pay for inside the actual lodge...though since I wanted an early start out to Mesa Verde the following day, the continental breakfast was plenty enough. Almost forgot, visiting in early May, my room rate was $65! That was fantastic for the situation and for what I believed to be a quality a place to stay. I can imagine when it's more in season, the rates would never be this cheap. In all, I'd certainly recommend choosing Spruce Lodge. For location, accommodations, price, food options and surroundings it's about as good as you'll find when trekking through southern Colorado or wherever your travels may take you.

I absolutely enjoyed this mini sized lodging location. It was completely surrounded by nature, wildlife and a closed hot tub (Due to COVID-19 protocols.) The area was quiet, peaceful and with an unforgettable sunrise and sunset. Foothills is close by lots of restaurants and bars, but we chose to stay in and make our own meals. I loved the Wild West themed home decor. They had lots of antlers, bear print curtains, bedding and more! Our lodge had two bedrooms with lots and lots of blankets!! The dressers were surely, the cutest furniture pieces ever!!! They had a small kitchenette with small sinks, coffee machine and more.

The whole house smelled like a nursing home that allowed dogs to live with them. Dogs pissed everywhere in this "cabin". So the worst part of the stay was when we complained to VACASA they gave us the big will look into it and get back to you game. Shuffling us from one representative to another until we stayed there the entire trip. I have to say this was by FAR the WORST experience I have ever had in my 64 years with an ARBNB in my life. If you want a horrible filthy, stinky, dirty "cabin" then you need to get G cabin. But don't complain to VACASA because all there worried about is the money not customer service, so any complaints fall on deaf ears. They may reassure you they'll make it right, DON'T BELIEVE THEM! If I could give them 0 stars I would, but they can get a 1 star rating they don't deserve!

She's an excellent host, and it was fun talking to her about the local scene. She also gave great recommendations for what to do around the area. I'd absolutely stay here again. Creede is pretty dead during the winter months, but I think it's absolutely worth the trip if you're into some irregular scenery. The rock formations are beautiful and bizarre, and provide some interesting photographic opportunities. Just be careful of mountain lions...they're a-plenty out there. :/

We rented a room and upon arriving, our toilet was filthy so we requested a new and bigger room. Our new room was fine but it lacked essentials like toilet paper and had 1 towel for the two of us. My husband took a hot tub that night and when he looked at it the next day he immediately took another shower hoping he would not get sick. It was filthy. My step son arrived the next day and in the middle of the night they were awakened by the real renters . My son was given the wrong key. My nephew rented another cabin and they did not have a shower head which was never fixed for them. They had to take showers with gushing water. To top it off, the manager invited all of us to a party that was being held in the rec room. We all attended to find the manager so drunk she was staggering. Granted she was off shift but proceeded to help the late comers totally waisted. Not impressive. We will never stay there again and my advice for every one is to stay clear of that place.
