First let me start by saying how extremely picky I am about my gardens and landscape. I decided to hire an arborist to be sure everything was handled correctly without the need for me to oversee the entire project. Evan and his crew arrived last summer to remove a diseased magnolia and an overgrown arborvitae. He also pruned three large silver maple trees. The maple trees were shaped beautifully and every tree was pruned the correct way. The magnolia removal and stump grinding went off without a hitch. Absolutely nothing was damaged and I replanted the entire area within a few weeks. I called Evan again this past March for a few more late winter/early spring projects: Three crab trees required a removal of suckers along with cleaning/thinning of the upper crowns. The tree work also included pruning the neighbor's silver maple tree away from one of the crabs. To maintain the current size, the crew trimmed and reduced branches of a fast growing magnolia. Finally they excavated around the three maple tree trunks to remove girdling roots and then spread fresh compost and shredded pine bark around each of the maples. Everything looks fresh, crisp and sharp just in time for the beautiful spring weather! I've had tree work performed in years past (by other companies-not professional arborists) and something ALWAYS went wrong; damage to the fence, damage to surrounding landscape and damage to trees from branches not being removed correctly. No need to worry with Arbor Man, LLC. Evan is professional, prompt and knowledgeable and the price is very reasonable. Arbor Man's crew went way beyond my expectations. They were so organized and efficient- always working well together and making sure that everything was done safely, too. It was interesting to see how they would discuss the plan of action throughout the day. They took great care to ensure that our yard would not be damaged, and they were meticulous with their clean-up. I have to add that this was a big project ( a MASSIVE silver maple and a very tall diseased blue spruce both had to be cut down). We had other trees which were also removed, and had the stumps ground as well. The crew arrived bright and early and went to work immediately. As emotional as it can be to have to have a beautiful but dying tree removed, we're so glad we went with Arbor Man. I have been hunting for a the right company to do this simple job (2 large 20' trees) for 4 weeks and it was frustrating. High prices, lack of communication, waiting all day for no shows, not returning call..ridiculous. Then I came across Arborman. Very professional, friendly and affordable. They returned calls, answered questions, showed up on time and did what they said they were going to do..without any hassles. (Strange how these basics of good customer service make these guys "stand out".) Once we got the date set, they came in and carefully did a great job, chipping the trees on the spot and grinding the stumps.in about an hour and a half.. Evan and the guys really know what they are doing. They cleaned up well and even gave me advice on what to plant next. I received a very timely estimate after contacting the company. They came out and trimmed two huge, old trees, cut down a peach tree and ground up and removed 4 tree stumps from my yard. Amazzzzzzzzzing! These guys (and girl) work as a team and they trimmed and took down 5 trees. One was a 50 year old black walnut! They are like a fine, oiled machine and they clean up after themselves! Don't bother calling anyone else. read more

Evan Burger removed two enormous cottonwood trees at a very competitive price! The trees were in a confined space, so he had to remove several panels of a newly installed cedar fence and maneuver the crane up a hill and through my flower garden. I called Arbor Man after reading all the great Yelp reviews. I have a large old Mulberry in my yard that needed some maintenance. The woman who answered the phone was pleasant, polite and helpful. She asked why I was calling, got my number, told me about how the owner would come do an estimate quickly and even that it may be possible to fit me in within the next week. She next asked for my address, which is in West Village in Detroit. As soon as I said "Detroit", she began to backpedal, and all of a sudden the schedule was booked for the next month. I said that was fine, I would be happy to wait for good service, and that I'd still like the estimate within the next couple days like she said. She then told me about the owner actually being really busy and how he may or may not have time to do an estimate. If you read the Yelp reviews you know that this company prides itself on fast response time and timely estimates......except for me. Finally I asked her point blank, "Is this because my address is in Detroit? Do you actually work in Detroit? Your website says you serve Metro Detroit, and your sawmill business is actually called 'Treepurposed Detroit.'" She said that it was not about the Detroit address, and instead that it was too far away, even though their website shows pictures from jobs further away than my address. After I pressed her some more, she told me that Evan, the owner would call me back Wednesday (this was Monday) to schedule an estimate. He never called. So, Arbor Man, I'm sorry to add a black mark to your record but you seem to be one of the many businesses that likes to use Detroit as part of your marketing, but discriminates against the city itself. My neighborhood is safe, full of historic homes, families, old trees and has lots of potential business. If you don't do work in the actual city, just be straight up about it. The only good part about this experience is that it led to me discover Singing Tree, who is not only an excellent company but also works anywhere in the city without prejudice. read more

A great company with great customer satisfaction in mind. I had a large Siberian Elm tree in my backyard (over 75' tall and canopied the entire yard) which needed a lot of trimming or removal. I called Arbor Man up for a quote based on other Yelp reviews and the fact that Evan Burger is a certified Arborist. Evan came out within a day to give me his view and an estimate. Based on the type of tree and its compromised state Evan recommending removal of the tree. Since I received a similar recommendation the prior year, I agreed that the tree must come down. Evan provided an estimate on the spot and I found it reasonable and told him he had the job. Evan and his team showed up 4 weeks later, as planned, and removed the tree. The methodical approach and efficiency in which the team worked was very impressive. The tree was so large that it had to be taken down in sections by someone climbing up and partially hanging by ropes. Large limps were lowered and cleared. Aside from no longer having the tree in the yard, you would never know that this large tree was just removed. The yard was completely cleaned up from all the debris and our deck and patio was cleaned. I would highly recommend Arbor Man to anyone needing to have tree work completed. read more

The word 'excellent' doesn't even begin to describe my experience. Not only were they affordable, the men were professional, obviously very experienced and they did a fantastic job cleaning up. My husband built an area along the fence line to stack all the wood that we just assumed we'd have to do when they were done but they stacked all of it - NEATLY!!! Two trees worth of wood!!! We didn't even ask them to do it. Here's my story...I had a tree fall in my backyard and another tree I wanted taken down. The tree I wanted taken down no one else would touch, including DTE, because the bottom of the tree was rotting and it was a HUGE 80+ feet tall and since it was leaning towards the power lines it wasn't safe to put anyone up in the tree because the added weight could bring it down. One company even told me to let Mother Nature take its course. Keep in mind, if the tree were to fall on its own all the lines would come down in my backyard where my boys play and the entire neighborhood would be without power. Anyhow, Arbor Man had the proper equipment needed to safely take the tree down. I highly recommend Arbor Man. read more

We called Arbor Man when a huge branch fell from our monster American Beech. The tree was right next to a fence and the neighbor's garage, not an easy place to get to. Making matters worse was a second huge broken branch right above the garage - a very dangerous situation. We called on a Sunday, Evan checked it out on Monday, and due to the urgency rearranged his schedule for us. The crew arrived first thing Tuesday morning and proceeded to take care of business. They all had their roles to play, and they did them very efficiently. Somehow they managed to pull a huge crane into our back yard without any collateral damage. Less than 7 hours later the tree was carefully taken down, piece by piece, loaded up on their trucks, and the stump ground out. They even hauled loads of wood chips to the back of our yard for our convenience. They were friendly, they were professional, and they did a fantastic job. We highly recommend them. read more

I didn't think it would be possible to be so happy with a tree removal service, but this place was awesome. They came out to check out the tree to give me a quote within a day and removed the tree within a week of me initially calling. The tree I had removed (a dead tree roughly 40-50 feet tall) was in the back corner of my backyard, behind my garage next to a fence, and very near some low-hanging power lines. Also, my driveway is only wide enough for one car, so I was really curious how they would manage to get a truck in to get the tree down and the wood out of there. They were in and out quickly and efficiently. There wasn't a mark in my yard or a scrap of wood left anywhere. They didn't touch the power lines or the fence and it was like they had never been there at all. i was honestly shocked at how well it went. To top it all off, the quote they gave was $450 less than another quote I got. I could not be happier with Arbor Man. I hope no other trees die in my yard, but if they do, I know who I will be calling. read more
