When we noticed the charge and brought it to their attention that it was rather gimmicky to do such a thing, the lady seemed appalled that we would say that. Ask the owners what is an additional charge up front. Also, we had a large group to accommodate so getting everyone there by the time of our reservation was impossible. The owners started the time anyways. It would be one thing if there were other reservations, but we reserved these boats for an off season time. Have some decency. Some "southern hospitality" these people have... Avoid if possible.

This summer we decided to rent a boat instead. BIG MISTAKE!! I owner (an older woman) was argumentative and rude as she was telling us the rules and regulations of the boat. She asked my husband (who has owned a boat for 20+ years) to sign statements ensuring the boat was in proper working order, when my husband asked if he could first SEE the boat before signing the papers she responded with, "if you give me attitude you will not get the boat!" Because we had three young sons eagerly awaiting the boat ride we brushed her comments off and continued with the paperwork. She used abusive language and her attitude began to get worse. She told us to follow her to look at the boat. I grabbed the boat checklist and asked if I should take it with me or if there was one on the boat....she then bit my head off telling me my attitude was unacceptable. She did this as we were paying HER $500 to rent a boat. My husband and I finally had enough. We told her we did not like her attitude and we did not want to rent a boat from her. She cussed us and told us to leave. Upon leaving we called our credit card company and asked if she took the $500 charge off the account. When we found out she didn't, my husband called her. She cussed him calling him a D*CK, and telling him that she was tired of dealing with his stupid a&&. In 30+ years I have never dealt with a business owner with this hideous attitude. Upon checking there are bad reviews all over every internet site about this business. Please don't rent from, buy anything or trade with these people. They are giving the wonderful town of Sulphur a bad name!

Skip the pontoon rental…read more Nothing they advertise about their pontoons is correct. The website lists incorrect prices (8 hours in a pontoon is $480, NOT $309 as listed). When you follow the links to reserve, FareHarbor not only states that Lake Murray Marina has "The Newest Luxury Fleet on Lake Murray!", it also explicitly states that the pontoons have bluetooth stereos (they don't), bimini tops (they don't), tables (ours didn't), and swim ladders (again, ours didn't). The boat we were first assigned had a broken table and broken captain's chair. I asked for a different boat with a functional captain's chair and was informed that the only other options didn't have ladders. We opted for no ladder, but found out that the replacement boat also didn't have a table. Whatever. The rental process was fairly simple, though I didn't love my full credit card number and details being handwritten and stored behind the desk. Too bad Lake Murray Marina is the only option to rent pontoon boats. Unfortunately, it's just not worth it.
