My son had an issue with his undercarriage dragging on the ground as he drives and it was time to have it looked at. I went to two body shops as a drive in and they said no appointment no service. So we got an appointment for the next week. My wife suggested Arbutus Auto Body. I had driven past this place thousands of times and never gave it a second thought. But the wife says take it here and off we went. The receptionist was very present and said someone would meet us in a few minutes. Two minutes later the service man met my son and I. My son described what was going on and we went to the car. The service man looked at the undercarriage and found that it needed a few screws. He then not only got the few screws but actually went down on the ground and went underneath the car and screwed in the items got back up and said it was no charge! What? No charge? I could not believe it. The service man said that next time you have a problem just think of our services. Wow that was extreme customer service. The service man was thanked for his service and i will " God forbid" would use the service. Thank You. Also note in the shop the have to old gas pumps. I loved them. Get this. Had a minor issue - hit a curb and flap under front fender came loose, was dragging. Was sort of in a tight spot, bc it was making a god-awful noise and I wasn't sure how safe it was to drive (seemed minor, but wasn't sure if there might be more than I could see?) and I wasn't particularly close to home. Picked the, bc they were the closest body shop that came up in Google maps, and I got lucky. Worked me in, very pleasant and professional, fixed me right up and sent me on my way. I decided to use this shop since its walking distance from my house and didn't appear to be a whole in the wall. It took 2 weeks to even get an appointment to get my car in. It didn't matter when I dropped my car off, they wouldn't be finished until the following Friday. I dropped my car off on a Tuesday, with slight bumper damage from sliding on snow and tapping another car's rear. They estimated my pick up time on that Friday. I called on Wednesday to estimate what time I could pick my car up on Friday since I had to be out of town. They told me it wouldn't be ready. They had to call the insurance about additional damage, double what my insurance had estimated, and wait for the claims adjuster to come out. The person I spoke with said that takes 24-48 hours. So, basically I would be looking at my car to finish up around mid week, the following week. Also, They refused to put my car back together for me to move it to a different shop or allow me to take it out without them putting it back together, not even suggesting that a toe truck would be possible. On Friday I called back to get an update; the insurance adjuster had still not been out and it was my best bet to call them and get the ball moving. I called my insurance and the guy told me that he would notify the adjuster right away and make it a priority, as I was without a car this entire time. On Monday, I waited patiently all day and finally called back around 3pm. The woman said the adjuster finally came out and she didn't call me because the adjuster said she would. They let me know my car should be ready by the following Friday! I flipped my kid because that would be almost a 3 week turn around for slight damage that didn't even bust up my dog or headlights. She made a big to do that it was such serious damage, etc, etc. They refused to acknowledge that they were pretty much holding my car ransom. Also, I was chastised for not having rental coverage, so it was my fault that I was without a vehicle for such a lengthy time. But, being such nice folks, they would work on seeing what they could do to get it out of there sooner. She told me to call back Thursday morning for an update. On Thursday morning I called back and great news, my car should be finished by the end of the day or Friday morning. Mistakingly, I told them I wouldn't be able to pick it up at the end of the day anyway because I was working. I called Friday morning at 10:30 and the woman told me that the car was done but they were going through paperwork so if I showed up around 1pm, it would be done. That's a half a day to complete paperwork on my car?!! To add a cherry on top, they told me they called the insurance adjuster on the Tuesday that I dropped it off and the adjuster told me they never called her. The insurance company notified her on Friday to come out, AFTER I called the insurance company directly to push the issue. In the end, it took 11 days. I spent $130 renting a car for work for the few days I had to travel. They doubled my initial insurance estimate on my car. They are rude, slow and will milk every cent of insurance money they can. I'm sure I'll see a hefty rise in my insurance for damage that didn't disrupt the working or structural integrity of the body of my car. I also happened to read a review on arbutus auto painting and body works with a similar complaint right before I dropped my car off and that should be been enough to scare me off. He said they also had multiple negative reviews on the better business bureau. I'm pretty sure it's the same company because the address is right across the street. read more

I went to AAB for some insurance based work 2 years ago involving some minor frontal passenger side damage to my truck. 2 after the body work I noticed an internal rain leak which I believed was from the previous work. Turns out it was not from the insurance work but the owner educated me on the frontal drain system and fixed the minor problem/huge headache free of charge. This place is terrible!!! Before coming here please know that I am not the only who has given this place a bad review. If you look on the Better Business Bureau website you will see two complaints about this place. My friend got her car fixed here as well too and it took them well over a month and over $6,000 in insurance money. DO NOT COME HERE!!! First off I know I am not the only customer in this place. I understand it is busy and that I was in a serious accident that required a lot of work done to my car. But if you keep my car for about a month and a half and take out over $8,200 worth of insurance money I would expect my car to be completely fixed, not after the 3rd time I went there. To give a brief summary of what happened, I first got in an accident in April; I had to get it towed and I picked this place because they fixed my car here before with no problems and it was close to my house. I didn't get my car back until the last day in May... Every time I called for that month and a half, they told me different dates as to when my car was going to be finished. First it was a 3 weeks, then a week in a half, then by next Friday... They didn't even offer me a courtesy vehicle until the last week before I got my car back. After I got my car back I was able to drive my car around for about a little less than a month then power steering fluid started leaking. I took it back a week later and they said my car would be done by Friday (so a week). They also said that these repairs stemmed from the accident so they had to take out even more insurance money, I still don't know how much they took out because they wouldn't give me the paperwork (sketchy). And when Friday rolls around, they tell me it is going to be done on Monday, surprisingly. My mistake was taking it there the second time. So I pick up my car on Tuesday morning and immediately take it to my dealership because I am super pissed at this point and I do not trust the work that they did to my vehicle. I paid out of pocket for a diagnostic test which comes back fine...except that the right inner CV boot that they supposedly fixed is now leaking axle grease. So I go back to the shop and demand my $335 to fix the leaking axle at my dealership. They refuse, and rudely tell me I can leave my car here again to be fixed (again) or call my insurance. They said it is not their fault that my car was fixed improperly, which is really surprising because when I left my car there in their care I thought it was an auto body repair shop. My bad. After calling my insurance, they are not investigating this place and the money that they took out for "fixing my car." Hopefully, they will pay back what they didn't fix so my premium doesn't go through the roof. Here is a breakdown of how much it cost me in not having a car for approximately two months now: * Missed day of work on July 10, 2012 - $165 (pre-tax) * Gym membership - (was out of gym for ~ 2 months) $9/month; $18 total * Sirius XM satellite radio (not used for ~ 2 months) - $16.99/month; $33.98 total * Car insurance premium (did not drive for ~ 2 months) - $750/6 months; $250 total * Stop Leak Power Steering Fluid and Coolant - $30 * Diagnostic test - $105; fixing the right inner CV boot, $335 * Paying gas for other people to drive (to work, etc.) - Indefinable amount Total amount of loss (without paying for gas) due to reckless repair = $936.98 So if you really want to not have your car for a long time, be rudely talked to, pay out of pocket for car repairs that should have already been fixed, and have your insurance pay out thousands of dollars for those already supposedly fixed repairs then please come to this place. read more

This is the body shop you want to go to! Not only do they do amazing work, but the staff is friendly and more importantly they are HONEST. They were able to repair my vehicle after another body shop couldn't. They matched my diamond white tri-coat paint, which is very difficult to work with. They also work w/ insurance companies which makes having repairs easy. I've gone to them numerous times and will not ever go anywhere else! On a recent road trip a can came flying at my car breaking my windshield and damaging my hood so badly that it started rusting. I took it to Arbutus Auto Body to repair or replace the hood. They gave me an estimate and we set up an appointment. The hood they initially found for my car turned out to be the wrong on one so they had to start the process of finding a suitable hood again. This caused a delay, but it worked out in my favor. The second hood ended up being a perfect color match for my car. Richard gave me the choice of not getting the hood repainted. His honesty This ended up saving me over $300, and I didn't have to pay for the extra car rental days. I wish people who have their cars fixed after an accident understood the process before they come on Yelp and bitch. Customers need to understand that their car isn't the only car in the shop, others are in for the same reason. When the shop disassembles your car they will almost always find more damage that the adjuster was unable to see when your car was still together. It is not unheard of for a repair to take longer than expected (parts delay, backed up paint shop, issues with other cars). So take a step back and think before U whine to your insurance company about the body shop. For the most part the shop U have chosen does descent work so let them finish it without U complaining about how long it took to fix it. Would U rather have the job rushed thru and U have to keep bringing it back, or wait an extra day or two for a complete and safe repair ? read more

Where do I start ? They didn't honor their estimate. After the car was almost completed they called and changed the estimate (bumped it up 35%). The paint doesn't match, there are blend spots that weren't buffed out, shake in the front end, the tires aren't balanced; somehow they disconnected the power mirror. The receptionist was just plain obnoxious (most of their employees I've dealt with are rude and seem to have a serious attitude problem). Took much longer than promised. Never again. read more

Arbutus Bodyshop was highly recommend to me as an honest business holding cookies and milk Christmas events around miniature train track set ups! However, once I took my Venza there, I was disappointed every step of the way. Having to wait for an appointment for 2 weeks did not phase me at all. It is pretty normal for a smaller place. However, my car was done in just 6 business days. After picking it up, I saw that the bumper had maybe one coat of paint. The left tail light was protruding about 1/4" above the body. Of course, I told the guy that this will not do. It took the shop another week to re-do. I also asked for an alignment check since I just put $800 worth of new tires a week before the accident. The guy told me that in his opinion the damage wasn't significant enough. However, according to the Merchant's Tires report, my car took on a significant impact to cause misalignment on the rear and front left of the vehicle - essentially the site of impact. read more
