    Classic Beef 'n Cheddar

I ordered a beef and cheddar and it was pitiful, half the sandwich was without any roast beef at all. The other side was barely much better....not worth the money.

a half eaten sandwich on a piece of paper

I just had the worst experience I could possibly have at my local Arby on Waterloo Road . I ordered a new cheese steak they're advertising. Today is 9/25/23. Everyone was very nice. There was a moment when no one was in line and I waited nearly 5 minutes to give my order. I had to blow my horn. My introduction was "go on with your order" oh, okay! The sandwich was square pallets of I don't know what it was. It was filled with gooey sauce pouring out everywhere. It looked like they forgot the meat. And I tipped them. I would like that tip back. I do not recommend you purchase this sandwich under any circumstance. It looked nothing like the picture. I'll add the picture later. photo coming.

In the past several years, ownership has changed hands 3-4 times and they've gotten further from what made them so good each time. I visited today and it will be my last attempt. There are several things you can do to ruin a great burger and they seem intent on checking all of the boxes. Weird, grainy and overly sweet "house made" ketchup: Check Oversized bun that is dense and almost stale? Check Horrible locally made pickles? Check Hopping on board with the weird trend of putting some of the condiments on the top bun and some on the bottom bun? Check I could go on, but nothing about the food at this place resembles anything they served during the glory days that allowed them to stay in business for multiple decades. Some people don't understand the concept of "If it ain't broke..". Too many Food Network style ideas with very poor execution. As soon as I saw the word "confit" in the description of today's special burger, I should have turned around and left.

Fries were good and I ate them with malt vinegar. It's an old diner style, very cute and historic. They have amazing bottled soda. We tried the black cherry, root beer and cream soda. I don't like cream soda but my friend who does said it was really good. Both root beer and black cherry were great. The lady working was sweet and told us about some of the history of the place. She was fun to talk to and nice. Only reason I'm giving it 4 stars is I left hungry and spent $16 on a burger, fries and a bottle of soda.

It's a 6 star restaurant, if such a thing exists. They have the absolute best appetizer menu I've ever seen. There were 8 items on the appetizer menu and with just 3 of us, we obviously couldn't order all of them. We started with the Bavarian pretzels, mashed potato balls, calamari and sauerkraut balls. And that's also the order I would rank them. The pretzels were the best I've had, maybe ever. The mashed potato balls would have been at the top of any other restaurants list, but not here. The sauerkraut balls were good, but not great and the calamari was also good. For our entrees, we split a patty melt, which might as well be called a party in your mouth melt. To die for. We also split the ribeye, and here's my story about that: 12 years ago, my wife and I were at Hyde Park in Columbus and I had to this day, the greatest ribeye I've ever had in my life. The problem comes, that I'm always chasing that ribeye. Every time I go to a restaurant, I debate in my head between the filet and the ribeye. And 99 times out of 100 I go with the ribeye. And 99 times out of a hundred, I regret my decision... Until tonight, IG does what everybody needs to do but only a select few are able to do and that's what makes the ribeye fat the best part of the steak. Somehow this place in a strip mall in Sprngfield OH does what every steakhouse tries to do, nails the ribeye.

The burger was fine but at the end of the day tasted bland and worse than something I could've thrown on the burner in a few minutes. The fries were really good though. Our server was friendly and actually talked a bit to us about the "best burgers in Akron" tournament we'd seen. The restaurant looked nice and felt upscale. But at the end of the day the price for what we got did not feel very justified. Felt overpriced for a mid burger and good fries.
