Bacon cheeseburger
Steve S.

I have wanted to stop and eat here for at least 25 years and never did until today. It looks exactly how I imagined it looked 35 years ago, which is perfect. Classic diner with great wait staff and quick wait times. Came for lunch on a Friday and got right in around noon. Had the bacon cheeseburger and it was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. My friends fish sandwich was good too. Will be back again!

I have to say, my experience at 1787 Tavern and Grill was so bad it was almost comical. I would…read moreonly recommend if you are getting to the hotel late and need something without high expectations it would be okay. We were in town for a wedding nearby and most of the family was staying at the hotel where the restaurant is located. Because most of the group was from out of town, everyone decided to eat at this restaurant located in the hotel to avoid transportation. We had the entire restaurant to ourselves with some other patrons at the bar. When our waitress brought just three menus for a party of seven and tossed a stack of Dollar store napkins in the middle of the table, with silverware on top, I should've known what was coming. The first three things I tried to order from the menu--soup of the day, chicken marsala, and broccoli--were all unavailable. Yes, three in a row! I finally ended up with a steak that I asked for medium, but it came out completely cooked through with no pink at all. Between the missing menu items, lackluster presentation, and poorly cooked food, the whole experience was a huge letdown. One thing they obviously had on hand was plenty of salt! I'm pretty sure we all consumed our limit of sodium for the week. One thing I can say is that all of the staff were extremely friendly and nice. I truly felt bad for our waitress. I gave the three stars based on the fact that the hotel uses the same area for breakfast and the server deserved five stars for breakfast. It was not a large buffet, but it was well presented and fresh (real scrambled eggs with cheese made on site which seems to be a rarity hotels these days).

My bartender,Sydney was great, made a strong drink and was very friendly and knowledgeable. I…read moreordered chicken wings which were very good and a large portion. This is a bar in a hotel lobby but way above my expectations. Stop by for a strong drink and a quick bite, you won't be disappointed!

We visited on a Monday night...thought we'd have a drink at the bar prior to our dinner…read morereservation, but the bar was full! How fun! So we had drinks at our table. When the martinis were served, the server Abbe, brought the extra in a tiny carafe in a glass of ice. So unusual and greatly appreciated! I had the french onion soup which was delicious, as well as, the pasta special. For dessert, we each ordered a different dessert. I thought my pick was the best...Chocolate kahlua truffles. My companions each thought their choice was the best...so a great hit all the way around

I'd give this a 4.25 stars. If you read my reviews, you know that terrible car accidents happen to me after work dinners (see review on The Industry for one such example). Thankfully, dear readers, I did not have any car incidents after THIS specific work dinner. Haha! Anyway, The Bistro of Green is in a strip mall five minutes from my work office and is an institution for locals in the area - people in my group were reminiscing about coming to Bistro multiple times a month before Covid, back when they were open for lunch. The menu seems to change often. They do have a couple specials on a board outside the door that are not on their printed menu, just FYI. Our dinner took over 2 and a half hours, starting with complimentary bread and our drinks of choice. The free bread was fine. I ordered a seasonal cocktail, the Apple Cranberry Sangria, despite cocktails not having a price listed (see menu picture). I tend never to order things that do not have the price listed but the cocktail sounded too good to resist. It was yummy and very sugary and fruity, with added mint leaves that definitely brought it up a notch! Our party also split 4 appetizers: the hot peppers ($13), baked provolone ($14), calamari ($16), and flatbread ($16). As the portions are not meant to be shared between 10 people, I only had a little bit of each. I wasn't into the peppers (too mushy) but the calamari was my favorite! I could see myself ordering this as a dinner just for myself in the future. Two thirds of the hot pepper dish was ignored by the group in the end. For my main, half of which I took home as it was getting very late and my drive back home is almost an hour, I chose to get the Bistro burger (medium rare) and fries ($18). This was chosen based on cost alone - even though I really wanted a chicken or steak dish, I just could not afford them. I am only a lonely assistant, not a CEO! I debated getting one of the other sandwich options, also both $18, but the lack of pictures either on Google or Yelp made me just stick with a burger. My lack of funds kept me from being too adventurous for this dinner, sadly. Next time, I'd be down to try their fancy grilled cheese (or steak, if someone else foots the bill). The burger was good, although not amazing, and the fries were that nice mix of just oily and crispy enough. Service was okay. Things apparently got busy at the bar, so it took longer than it should have for us to get our drinks and food throughout the night. As for vibes, it was nicely decorated for Christmas, lights were dim, and Christmas music played softly in the background. No complaints here! In the end, for a sangria, burger, fries, tax, and tip (plus a 3% surcharge for using a credit card), my dinner cost me over $40. Can you imagine just how much worse the bill would have been if I hadn't gotten the cheapest thing on the menu? Next time, I will also remember to bring cash. And choose a more unique dish.

Service was friendly and the right amount of attentive, making sure our water glasses were full and checking in on our party. Food options are mostly bar/pub type food (understandably so) but they have a couple of salads. Not a ton of vegetarian options unfortunately, so I ended up eating appetizers and tried their fish sandwich. That said, the fried pickles were amazing (they put dill in the batter which I loved) and they came with an excellent dipping sauce. The onion rings were good but super greasy and the breading was a little thicker than I would prefer. The giant soft pretzel was SO GOOD...I wish I'd gotten a photo of that but we demolished it! Fish sandwich was decent but nothing to write home about...pretty thick breading there too but the fish was good and it came with a huge serving of fries. All in all pretty tasty food and I'd go back for sure, just not a place to go if you are looking for health ;) Thank you for a nice evening, Caston & Main!
