Woodys place IS the place to go for breakfast! Ever since moving to Akron a year ago we have the privilege to eat here a handful of times. The workers are absolutely amazing! Their food taste so good! I don't know what it is, but the simpilict blt would taste amazing. The atmosphere is so friendly. Super busy place. First time there breakfast was ok overall. The sausage gravy is a bit odd being made with hot sausage which is kind of an odd taste. But someone did tell me they offered or have a "regular" white sausage gravy so a second stop and review update will be soon. read more

In town for a concert, wanted a local breakfast. Always try the local spots when i'm in a new town. Woodys did not disappoint. We got to sit with the locals, hear conversations from our waitress etc. Very welcoming and home feel to this place. The entire dining room was packed, yet we received our food in roughly 10 minutes. I have wanted to stop and eat here for at least 25 years and never did until today. It looks exactly how I imagined it looked 35 years ago, which is perfect. Classic diner with great wait staff and quick wait times. Came for lunch on a Friday and got right in around noon. Had the bacon cheeseburger and it was easily one of the best burgers I've ever had. My sister (visiting from out of state) and I recently had breakfast at Woody's Place. I told her we need to go early because they are busy for breakfast. We arrived at a very busy time, which I expected. The wait was not that long. The food was great!! I had the western omelet and sis had the blueberry pancakes. Both were cooked to perfection! The servers were very busy for the breakfast crowd. And also very nice (considering the short staff) and was always around to keep my coffee cup full!!! These ladies (and chefs) worked their butt's off!! The atmosphere was loud and busy (which did not bother me). Definitely one of the better breakfasts I've had in a long time! Doesn't look like much but freshness and simplicity in the cooking not to mention an All female staff minus the bus boy. Our server was on point handling a large party and 2 other tables but I appreciated how they all worked as a team, and as quick and prompt as she was! I have the absolute utmost respect for working moms especially when they are pregnant, still able to give her heart into making her tips l. Props to her and the fresh food that the ladies in the back woke up early to prep and cook perfectly! If ever coming back through Akron, I'll make it a point to stop here. Oh yes... Probably the best overall, no-frills breakfast in all of Akron. I have read a few bad reviews about this place and have to seriously wonder if they aren't confusing this for some other restaurant. I have NEVER had a bad meal here and defy anyone who whines about the prices to tell me where they are eating for cheaper. The service is better than anywhere in town: never have to ask for a warm-up on the coffee, it just stays full without having to ask. There is a good reason why this place is usually packed every single hour they are open. If you do not like it, I sincerely would encourage you to eat elsewhere so the legions of folks who love it do not have to wait so long for a table. Would also encourage folks to consider where the majority of the scathing reviewers list as their hometowns. I find it a little dubious that so many folks from places like San Francisco manage to find a tiny little, unadvertised restaurant in south Akron. read more

I WILL never go here for breakfast! My son and friends went here for breakfast. As they left, the waitress ran out of the restaurant and said that the "black kid" didn't pay. He had paid and left a tip. I have called the restaurant several times to make sure that they understand how inappropriate and racists this is. Instead of taking responsibility, they have lied about my son and continued to change their story as to what happened. If you are a person of color, I would highly recommend not eating here! read more

Hands down the best traditional breakfast you can get. Honestly, the breakfast here is so good I can't even remember if they had any lunch offerings. But I promise you'll want to get the breakfast. M. This place is a Coventry landmark not high-end more of a good old boy spot. The food was better than average I would go so far as saying tasty. The staff was pleasant but very comfortable and loud if your looking for dignified it has left the building.
