What was supposed to be a nice meal for my family after a 12 hour drive from the northeast, turned into an hour of waiting for cold food. i ordered through Uber Eats and I got cold ass food, boneless wings that were hard as rocks, a missing drink, cold ass Mac n cheese and the fries were cold as well. When my delivery driver called because there needed to be a substitution the lady on the other end had an attitude like my order was personally inconveniencing her. My driver gets a 10/10....... After my son placed an order on the app and showed up to pick up his order, there was a handwritten note on the door stating they were closed. He said it appeared like the staff was sitting inside, possibly with friends sitting at tables and eating. I hope they were enjoying the food he purchased. He called. The person on the phone said they were closed. He wanted to know why they take online orders if they are closed. He was told to cancel the order on the app. There is no option to cancel. He asked for the corporate office, corporate phone number and they wouldn't give him anything. So basically they are stealing from their customers. After coming on here and reading that this has been going on for at least 5 years - I can't believe the owner of this business is still getting away with his employees doing this. What a shame that an enterprise that could give Chik-fil-a a run for their money has declined so fiercely. This part of town has had its problems which likely have ruined this location. I feel bad for the folks working there. The eating area has been converted into an ad hoc storeroom and the entire site just isn't pleasant. Some employees nice, some not. Worst Popeyes ever! The employees don't care about anything. The blackened chicken was tougher than jerky and completely inedible. The drinks taste like they don't clean their machine and they're likely not cleaning their ice machine either. Ordered over the website like they told me too over the phone. Went there to pick up my order and they told me my food was already picked up by door dash but I didn't order it through DoorDash. They then said they had 3 orders stolen today. Half-hour wait in drive through. We get to the window and witnessed person filling bags wiping her sweat with her ungloved hand, no mask or hairnet/hat. She was handling everyone's food. The window cashier wipes her nose with her bare fingers and turns to me for payment. She sees my credit card and states they only take cash. I drove off without food (no way were we going to eat the germ infested food) or paying. Absolutely worst place I wasted over half an hour trapped in the drive through lane. 1200 ARLINGTON RD, AKRON, OHIO I placed my $20 order via the Popeye App, when we arrived at this restaurant only 10 minutes later, the facility was LIGHTS OFF/CLOSED!!! Furthermore, after I spotted an employee inside, I knocked on the door to attract her attention. Once she finally turned around, I motioned for her to come to the door, which she obviously reluctantly did. I explained that we had just used the app! She stated "Well, we're closed" I asked, "What about my order?" and she responded: "You'll have to go to the app and just cancel it". Which of course, there is no option to do via your app. We had driven for well over an hour and we were hungry and tired from a day of moving. I would like a complete refund (at least)! I feel we deserve some additional compensation. We have enjoyed Popeye's Louisiana Chicken for many years and have eaten it often, and despite the fact that this location is less than 2 miles from my son's new residence; we plan to NEVER frequent this restaurant ever again. I will say that this store clearly has staffing issues, there were only two workers in the store. However, that does not excuse how poor the experience was. The person wasn't even considerate enough to turn off their music when we pulled up to the window, so of course she was going "uh", "what was that?", and so on and took over five minutes to order two combos, one of which, she didn't ask what drink we wanted with it. She gave us the same drink as the first meal and the person it went to didn't like it. Furthermore, they shut off their doordash even though it doesn't appear to be busy. Then when it's your turn to order there's always a chance no one ever gets on the speaker and takes your order. 30 minutes later you just have to drive away. Place an online order and wait outside patiently. There is a real good chance it never comes. There is 100% no chance you can get anyone's attention inside. My 19 year old son ordered a strawberry lemonade with his sandwich the other night and when he took a sip of it, he could clearly taste alcohol. When he handed it back to the employee to make him a new one he could hear the kitchen staff laughing about it. The service was terrible. We waited in the drive through service line for over 30 minutes with 5 vehicles ahead of us. We were told the spicy chicken wasn't ready yet when ordering.
