However, for every great one, there are four bad ones out there. And some places like Jacksonville and the last place we lived just don't have real delis of any kind. This is where Jersey Mike's shines. They are fast, they make great sandwiches that are consistently well made with fresh cut meats and a friendly staff. I like that most locations will listen to my requests so I can help them build a sandwich closer to what I want. For me, the 13 is my go-to choice, but there are several others I like, too. They kind of miss on the cheesesteaks; there are lots of better choices and not their wheelhouse. It's about the same as the cheesesteaks you find in some mall food courts, nothing special. A few things I wish they would work on; that seems to be an issue at all locations. Stop punishing people who want a Zero soda, Coke, Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper; it doesn't matter. If you buy a fountain drink, you get refills and a fair price. If you want the only Zero soda that some have (Pepsi Zero), it's only in bottles, costs more, and has no refills. Just put one in the fountain already. Stop asking me if I want bacon if I order a sandwich that comes with bacon. Every location seems to do this, and it's annoying. If you order a sandwich that does not come with bacon, then ask me. But if it comes with bacon like a club, don't pretend you're doing me a favor by putting on the meats the menu item comes with. Some locations, usually with a new hire, don't know how to make a sandwich. I'm typically patient, but when there is a long line and people are trying to get lunch, putting an inexperienced person on the line is not doing your reputation any favors while the senior staff stands around watching them. They make too many mistakes and get frustrated when people are in a hurry and already waited in a line for 15 minutes. Don't substitute cheaper ingredients. I've been to a few Jersey Mikes, where they don't use the house brand ingredients. I wonder if corporate knows this (not a problem at this location). For example, replacing your great pickles with cheap bulk versions is one example, or replacing meats with cheaper brands. Don't let your franchisees do this. Even with your new overlords (the family that owns Jersey Mike's recently sold the company to a VC group known to ruin fast food brands, stripping them down and then selling them off after they bankrupt them). Simple menu with plenty of options for everyone. The food is cooked to order and doesn't take long even when it's really busy. Plenty of seating and a large parking lot. We ordered the sandwich combo and the Big G combo. After receiving our drinks and paying we had a little bit of a wait. Not a big deal. Once we received our meals in containers and opened them at our booth, everything seemed fine. The sandwich does get served on a typical store bought bun. Wife did not like the bun. Her and I agreed the chicken was good. Three strips were on her sandwich. My Big G order comes with 6 chicken strips. We liked the golden crinkle fries. They were cooked perfect. Taste was good. Half of my strips were more like nuggets, but the flavor and texture were good. The bread that came with my combo was lightly toasted and tasted good as well. Overall we enjoyed dining here. However, we immediately noticed all the chairs were already flipped onto the tables. Still, we walked in -- there were five of us -- and were not greeted by the young woman sweeping the floor or the gentleman behind the counter. My husband politely asked if they were closing, and the young woman responded bluntly (and quite rudely), "No, we're open, but our lobby closes at 6." Lobby hours? That was news to us. There was no signage posted about the lobby closing earlier, and even a quick Google search didn't show anything about separate lobby hours. To make matters worse, when my daughter attempted to use the restroom, she was told they were already closed as well. Between the rudeness, the lack of any visible communication about lobby hours, and the very uncomfortable, unwelcoming atmosphere, we decided to leave. Thankfully, we went to Jersey Mike's, where we were greeted kindly and treated professionally.
