Absolutely 5 stars. I have curly hair and I wanted to get highlights and cover my grays without damaging my curls. Arcadia made me feel so reassured during the whole process not only that would take good care of my hair but also that she would take her time because she wanted me to be happy with the results. Anyone who complained about a grandma watching her grandchildren in the business she built from the ground and owns is just a angry person not worthy of a opinion. With that said this is by far the best salon within 1000mi and being a family operated business, I'm happy with anyone who I can get my hair cut by here but I can say Arcadia and her daughter have cut my hair for 30 years yes longer than her own shop. I fallowed her from where she worked at prior to opening Arcadia hair salon. And so has my entire family. My friend referred me to Taylor at Arcadia for a color correction and creative color and I am telling you that you will not regret going to Arcadia. I walked in and it immediately felt like I was at home, listening to family chit chat about life, and everyone is greeted so warmly. Let's start with Taylor because this girl is why I came to Watsonville from Seaside. I had a horrific experience with a different salon prior in the week -- and I was referred to Taylor. I literally checked out her Instagram and was sold on her skills. After chatting with her about everything, she agreed to jump in and help make my sunset hair a reality. Peep my photos y'all because I am living my dream! She bleached and processed my hair and it feels the same. The texture of my hair literally did not change one bit! I am absolutely amazed! I was in desperate need of a haircut. I drove 1hr since Santa Clara county was closed due to SIP ordinance. But since I was still working and needed to at least look professional I needed a trim. Thank goodness the neighboring Santa Cruz county was open. I took all pro-cautionary measures and wore a mask. I had made a appointment the day before and when i got there i was greeted to wash my hands and they sanitized their saloon chair. I was instructed to sit and that someone would be right with me. The owner cut my hair but made me feel so uncomfortable. She was lecturing me that they only service people locally and that they really dont help out-of-towners. Her employee who was also cutting someone's elses hair chimed in and said well whats the point of SIP then. She proceeded to say that her customer is from another city but shes okay because she used to be a regular at one point. While all this was going on she was chopping my hair like nobodies business. She was using thinning shears in areas that didn't call for it ( i gave her a picture of what i wanted) . She was rushing so much and didn't really take the time to make me confident she was doing it correctly. In the end my hair was way too short and then she lets me know i need a color, yea im overdue for a lot of things. Obviously i needed a hair cut but I guess I wasn't even welcome to go there. As i was walking out ready to pay their CC machine wasn't even working so I had to walk to the nearest bank to get cash. Advice: it is your right who you service bit please screen them in advance instead of trying to make people feel guilty and uncomfortable!!! read more

I've been coming to Arcadia's hair salon for over 15 years. Arcadia is the owner and Lily her daughter are both very friendly and experienced hair stylist. They know my normal haircut but if I ever want change it up I normally just take a photo of something like I had in mind. it's nice to have a stylist that has many years of experience and knows what they are doing. I also follow them on Facebook where you can see hairstyles and some of their work. I wouldn't recommend a family member or friend go anywhere else. Best to call make an appointment as they do get busy (especially if you need for special event), but they also take walk in. Lily did an amazing color correction, so my hair is now just the right shade of blond, not too dark and not too light. I went in expecting to get a quote and have to schedule an appointment to come back another time. I was so glad Arcadia was able to take me when I got there. She sat me down and got to work using organic products. The process was so relaxing , Arcadia and her daughter are so welcoming and sweet. She kept reassuring me the whole time telling me she wanted to make sure my hair was absolutely beautiful and that she was really taking her time to make sure it would be perfect. She is a woman of her word, she did a beautiful job on my hair! It feels so soft and silky. Absolutely LOVE her work. The highlights came out perfect! Arcadia salon has to be one of the worst salons in the area! The owner has absolutely no respect for customers or her employees!! The employees seem to be good, but due to the rudeness of the owner I will not find out!! As I stated before there seems to be a issue with the owner. Since once again she comes at a customers review, as an attack instead of constructive criticism. Better your practices and clients, such as myself won't have an issue. It's not your employees that are the issue. For your information the name on my credit card is different, if I used one that afternoon. This place is a joke. I went here for a haircut and color because I saw so many good reviews, well I was wrong. First of all the owner had her grand kids there, not sure if she was babysitting them or not but kept interrupting the process of my color to attend to them. Very unprofessional. Lady would not shut up bragging about how great her salon is, how good of a job her daughter does with color etc. I had asked for color correction asked if she could do that, she said no problem. She left my color on so long because she was also doing someone else's hair in between my appointment that my hair ended up fried. The haircut was a joke too, she kept cutting it and thinning it out that instead of giving me volume she made my hair look limp with no volume. Now I realize that perhaps all the good reviews are paid reviews by family or friends. I don't recommend this place, for what you will pay, go somewhere else and stay away from this place. read more
