Oh, Dr. Naughton . . . as much as I like your bedside manner, I didn't want to see you again. Yet,…read moreSeptember 28, we were back in the examination room talking about breast cancer. This man is so knowledgeable, educated, friendly, conversational and understanding, I can't imagine having another medical oncologist. The new cancer. And yes, it is completely new. Other side. Different name. Different characteristics. Please don't anyone misunderstand that the cancer came back. It didn't. Three reasons: 1. Breast cancer doesn't jump the Royal Gorge. If it's on the other side, it's a different cancer. 2. First cancer was DCIS and another cancer (two cancers). This cancer is tubular cancer, so it's a different cancer. 3. First cancer was estrogen-receptor negative. This cancer is estrogen-receptor positive, progesterone-receptor positive and HER2 negative -- so it's a different cancer. That caused concern with Dr. Naughton. So he ordered genetic testing, which required a blood draw. In the meantime, he prescribed anastrozole, an estrogen-killing medication I take daily at bedtime for six years. Frankly, I didn't think I had any more hormones in my body. He described some of the side effects, a major one being bone loss. I had a bone density study two years ago, he looked it up, and said I'd be fine. My study showed my bone structure was relative to or better than a 30-year-old woman. The other side effects are workable, but since September 28, I've experienced nothing. And the genetic testing found my NBR gene, which is linked to breast cancer, showed to be a variant of "uncertain significance". The gene continues to be studied. We all move forward, and I'm in good hands.

I was a patient of his for 5 difficult years, it was called cancer recovery. With me listening to him, following orders, and many tears later I am now cancer-free. I wish I were still a patient of his but life has relocated me to the South. IF for any reason I believed I needed to see him I would hitchhike back to Missouri just to be in his care again. That's how good he is.

In 2001 my mother was diagnosed with ovarian cancer and a 30 lb tumor in her ovary. Noone would treat my mother, until we went to Depaul hospital and they referred us to Karuna Murray. My mother hadn't worked for years and this was her first medical issue. Dr Murray was amazing with us. She explained what the surgery would entail and what to expect. So the week of Christmas that year, my mother went into surgery, about 8 hours, came out of it like a champ and Dr.Murray filled me in on how it went after she finished in surgery. Dr Murray requested my mother be put on the maternity ward, she said it was because the nurses on that floor were more caring. My mother was in case study after case study, had some of the strongest chemo's around...was also poked and proded day after day, week after week. But Dr. Murray always made my mom feel special. My mother wasn't expected to make it off the operating table, yet she lasted another 10 years thanks to the care of Dr. Murray and others. I owe everything to Dr Murray and her team for giving me 10 more years with my mother that I might not have had otherwise.

Dr. Karuna Murray is a first-rate money grubbing Big Pharma sheep. She coerced me into signing…read morefinancial responsibility by saying that she wouldn't see me unless I did, which my HMO says I do NOT have to do. I am pulling a complaint with Blue Cross Anthem Missouri about that. With a definite diagnosed HGSC she still felt it would be necessary to do a biopsy for a cancer that has been named so that she could bang my insurance for that and I had a 10-day old MRI but she wanted another one that is $1000 co-pay for me, and that I would have to have chemo which I will NOT do as well and a PET scan that my insurance won't pay for. I thanked her for her time and I got up and left. The problem is that the standard of care is chemo, surgery, more chemo and then death while the oncologist (and let us not forget the HUGE markup the doctor gets on the drugs they buy and RE-SELL to the patient at a huge markup) gets rich by poisoning me. No thanks Dr. Murray--but if you want to die, she's the doctor for you. Chemo is her thing and she didn't even want to hear about the immunotherapy so she's a bad doctor in addition to being a bad person. I don't know if I am going to be able to get a doctor to remove these two tumors, she isn't going to deviate from what she learned in medical school and is pushing the 39-year old chemo treatment with the 2.1% success rate and the $50,000.00 in her pocket for each unsuccessful treatment as she turns me from healthy and vibrant to bald, vomiting and dying. F her and her cisplatin and carboplatin taxane flavored POISON. Go elsewhere--and run away from this miserable witch with her 39 year old million dollar treatment that will kill you. In what universe is pumping someone full of expensive chemicals (that will have NO effect on my cancer according to 8 other doctors) considered cutting edge medicine? It's like doing brain surgery with a rock! She's got a cash register for a heart and all she wants to do is bill your insurance until she kills you with her chemo poison.

The ER was quick to respond and fast acting. That's about where the good ends and the bad begins. They missed meals while admitted, they almost let him bleed out and had to call a code team to respond. He is on blood thinners but was treated the entirely wrong way! I don't want to freak people out so I'm not posting pictures. They were doing the exact opposite of what everything on the Internet said to do and a DR even admitted they were doing it wrong. Then even after this was finished and we requested ENT to look at him he was released to rehab where he had another nose bleed even worse and they had to put a rhino rocket in for 72 hours. No pain meds were given until requested and the 12 hours later he had only gotten one dose. Mind you I was there during 90 percent of this and he is for all intents and purposes non verbal. The nurse felt bad and was very attentive after she didn't realize he hadn't gotten any pain or anxiety medicine for having an almost 3 inch ballon in his nasal passage. Like WTF. I'm so pissed I can't imagine if he had no one to advocate for him what would they have done to him. A year ago I would have been in jail after the first part of this experience for a long time. This is disgraceful. I forgot to mention. The first morning I came in his entire bed was soaked in urine sheets and all and I have photo evidence of all of this. It is atrocious and negligent! I have even tried contacting several people in the hospital and told I would be contacted and haven't heard back and I told them hey had 48 hours before I began my journey to exposing them. 5 days and many other things to report we are going to the state health and senior services after this and we will not stop. I'm one thing and that is tenacious and I will get you on the news and hopefully have our day in court with you Mercy! Good luck! So much more to say but seriously try and keep your family out of everything but the ER and know what your family member needs and don't leave them alone there it will be bad if you do.
