After exhausting every reasonable attempt to resolve the issue, I filed a lawsuit. The court ruled in my favor and ordered repayment. Despite that judgment, the court-ordered payments have not been made. I never imagined I'd have to sue someone just to recover money for work that wasn't completed, but that's where this ended up. Upon removal, I noticed that the stairs were not only badly damaged (from a previous owner's work), but were failing in multiple areas when accessed underneath. This was no longer a home improvement project, but now became a safety issue. I contacted Jonathan on a Tuesday afternoon letting him know that we had a staircase that was in need of repair. I reached out to 10 companies (that listed on their Yelp reviews that they offered carpentry) requesting a carpenter or carpentry skills, but only Jonathan and another company indicated that they could repair stairs that were damaged and in need of repair. The other company was not as responsive and indicated that they were fully booked through the summer, and that they didn't have the time. After texting and calling Jonathan throughout the day Tuesday, Jonathan indicated that he would come out the following morning to assess the damage with one of his highly skilled employees. Jonathan and his skilled carpenter were timely and direct in what needed addressed. He indicated that we would replace 10 of the 13 treads, and that they would reinforce all of the stairs underneath with 2x4's and other materials. Jonathan and his skilled carpenter were not only efficient, timely, and responsive, but the quality exceeded all expectations. Jonathan's carpenter worked nonstop Wednesday (not even a break!) and finished ahead of schedule on Thursday. The high quality work was much more than we had anticipated, and the price was reasonable (considering the urgency and timing). I highly recommend Jonathan and his company. We had numerous projects done with them from small to very involved, and no matter what the size of the job you have, they can handle it. Jeremy is the polite and knowledgable owner of this family run business. Not only is he an experienced craftsmen but he has a whole stable of experts working for him as well. Beau is one of the best project managers around and his years in the business and expertise are obvious. He always double checks with the boss and on the schedule so he will not promise things he can't deliver. He communicates directly with you and will be there almost daily to check on the status of your job. Jeremy has several larger crews working for him. The demolition crew is has numerous helpers and they are quick. Derrick was wonderful and made sure that there was no mess left behind and attended to all of the details. The painters he uses are also true professionals. Jeff and his guys were fast, neat and their work looks great. Finally, there are those who are called in to handle special jobs. The plumber responds quickly and can help you with anything from small leaks to complete renovations. As for all of the detail work, Chris is one of the best finishing guys you could have. He is obviously skilled, clear and concise on what he will do and takes his time to make sure that the house is put together just right. The only problem you will run into is scheduling. They are extremely busy so don't wait until the last minute to try and get your project done. Call and get an estimate and get on their calendar.

We decided to go with Sam after receiving 5-6 quotes ranging from 5k to 25k different in final prices. Sam's quote fell closer to the lower end. It took exactly one month to complete the entire basement. During this time, Sam was always on site and ready to answer any questions necessary. He was reachable by text or phone during almost all hours of the day. I am extremely pleased with the final product. Like almost all major projects, we encountered numerous hiccups but Sam always had an answer and did so with us in mind. He is honest and ethical and I would hire him for any future projects we have.
