The owner of this location was probably the most genuine, caring individual I personally have ever had the pleasure of doing business with. He answered all my questions and even told me to call back if I had any others. His product is of the highest quality. His lobster and crab were fresh, succulent and delicious. I feel remiss in not having left a review of Archar Seafood since I was there a couple of months ago. Archar was recommended by a friend who works near the store for their sushi grade tuna and salmon. Understand now that we live a good 35 minutes away from the store. Don't be fooled by the appearance of the outside of the shop, it's pretty unassuming. But their selection is fresh and great. I checked this place out, looking for crab legs, and everyone was curteous and they even gave me a few recipes to boot! I'll be going back tomorrow, to try and pick up some crabs. The deliveries come early in the morning and are usually sold out by lunch time. Pricing seemed very reasonable to me, and the quality of seafood here is great. So glad I now have a "seafood spot". I won't be buying from the supermarket anymore, since this is where they get their stuff from anyway. read more

Salmon is our favorite fish. We eat it a couple of times a week and have been doing it for many years. Have gotten it in many, many places over the years. I went to try Archer Seafood today after the fantastic reviews I saw! This place is all that and then some. I wanted fresh lobsters to make lobster rolls and they told I needed to order in advance. Mike the owner went to find the fresh seafood truck (as he moved onto another delivery location) and within 30 minutes, Mike came back 2 live Canadian Water lobsters. I was more than impressed with the level of customer service. While I waited for the lobsters, the workers taught me about other fish that I have not tried yet. They were so courteous and patient. I cannot go to ShopRite anymore to buy seafood. This place is it for me. Thank you Mike and crew for the wonderful service and the fabulous seafood. read more

Fresh seafood and Mike was really really friendly and accommodating. We were making crab curry for lunch. On Sundays the store opens at 12:00 noon, he let us come in earlier and pick up crabs. The crab were really fresh and tasted so good. He cleaned the crabs up really nice. I had earlier inquired for crabs in a store in plainfield and judging by the price, Archar was very reasonable with the price as well.. Wow! After reading some awesome reviews, I decided to check this place out. Got some clams and crab legs, and let me tell you, they were to DIE for! Wow! The crab legs were outstanding. Some of the best I've had. So big and full of flavor. The clams were equally amazing. I loved it so much I decided to go back the next day when they were expecting a ton of oysters. Well, let me tell you, these oysters were fresh and delicious! The best I've ever shucked. Also got some sushi grade salmon...so good!!!! As I was walking to my car, one of the owners, Mike, came running out and asked me if I wanted to sample some sushi halibut. It doesn't take much to convince me so I ran back inside to taste it...little did I know he would give me around a half a pound!! So good! These guys are the best. Mike is super customer oriented and upon hearing it was my first time there went out of his way to make sure I got what I wanted at a good price. This was my first buying of sushi grade/ edible raw tuna and it went very well. Thanks to the quality of his fish I made better Tuna tartar than my favorite restaurants. I do recommend calling ahead to ask they hold aside sushi grade fish for you or ask when they normally get a shipment in to best time "just stopping by" since they do sell out. I had my freshest salmon ever from Archar. There was no trace of fish smell when I opened the bag. I used Japanese ginger sauce and a little bit of salt and pepper to season the fish when I steamed it. It tasted so tender and fresh. I wish I had found this place years earlier. read more

I was SOO thrilled to find this place! As others said, you would never notice this little non-descript store unless you were looking for it. But its appearance is deceiving! Their fish is FRESH, delicious, and their prices are extremely reasonable. I work in the health, food, and nutrition field, so I am very picky about the food I buy, particularly fish. Wow! I've been looking for a seafood market since Jensens closed in South River. Archars is everything previous writers said...friendly, knowledgable staff. Michael, the owner, is a sweetheart. The fish, shellfish, lobsters, etc. are so fresh. I bought sea scallops and halibut filet. The guys gave me ways to cook it. I'm a little crazy about getting FRESH AND DELICIOUS seafood. I have and turf dinner every year with some buddies from the military. This year was my turn to cook, but got caught up visiting family over the holidays and didn't prepare properly. I called Mike in a panic, he talked me off a ledge and told me to come in and he'd help me pull something together. I ended up with a killer spread, and my buddies went home stuffed.
