Today I dined in, and everything hit the spot! I started with the chicken katsu musubi: crunchy, flavorful, and downright delicious. Then came my main dish from the saimin menu, a type of Hawaiian-style ramen made with egg noodles, baby bok choy, fish cake (that looks like a slice of radish), scallions, and a bouillon base. I chose the BBQ beef saimin, and it was absolutely exquisite. The waitress brought everything out on a tray, and the service was just as satisfying as the food itself.
Having driven by this place a thousand times, I thought I give this place a try for lunch today. One foodie item I was kicking myself for not trying when I was in Honolulu was their popular local dish, the Loco Moco. I saw a mini set available on the menu for $9.99 and this is a perfect portion for me to try this dish. Loco Moco - a beef patty over white rice topped with gravy and a sunny-side-up egg on top. I know the dark brown sauce is made with beef stock, soy sauce, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and ketchup. I usually go crazy for sauce over rice but this was just not my thing. I rather have a one of those Salisbury Steak frozen entrees. The set also came with a side of macaroni and it was weird that it was salty. My friend got the Short Ribs mini set and it was hella heavy on the sodium as well. To be fair this place had lots of patrons coming and going with takeout orders. I'm the exception, I was not loco for this moco, it wasn't ono licious for me.
Hawaii Station in Edison has really stepped it up lately. They recently expanded their menu, and I decided to try the salmon teriyaki with rice and macaroni. The portion was solid, the fish was cooked nicely, and the teriyaki sauce had just the right amount of sweetness. You can tell they've been putting more effort into their food lately. Overall, a nice spot for a quick and satisfying meal definitely worth checking out if you haven't been in a while.
This was quite the pleasant surprise when this restaurant kept popping up in my restaurant searches when I was working in this area. I was able to catch lunch here in our last day in the area. And it was on the way to the airport and my teammate has never had Hawaiian bbq before. So it was on! I order a couple of spring rolls and some goyza dumplings for apps I order 2 grilled meats combos. It was bbq chicken, beef and kalbi ribs on top some slaw and white rice and Mac salad. My teammate asked me what he was eating and stated that what ever it was " it's f ing good" This is an every small restaurant and I would have given them another star if the meats actually had some charred marks from the flame grill. It almost seems like they cooked it on a grill top.
Great Hawaiian food spot in Edison! The options were expansive and the food was hearty. The sauce and soup was a little salty after a while but good thing the rice and mac salad balanced it all out. Not much of a fan of spam masubi but figured I'd give it a try. Nothing special about the ones here! I am definately returning to try their poke. Everything looked fresh and portion size looks promising.
This review is based on takeout. I called to place an order and the order was ready in 10 minutes. It's a small spot with a few tables inside if you prefer to dine in. We got the poke bowl and the combo BBQ. The poke bowl had a few pieces of fish that were slightly fishy but overall it was really good. The combo BBQ the beef options were insanely flavorful, the chicken was a little dry for us but we'll definitely come back for the beef. Overall a great spot and will definitely be back. Also, get the card stamped and you get your 11th bowl free after getting 10 stamps :)
My partner and I arrived around 11am on a Saturday and I'm surprised we were the only ones there. I love fast casual spots and this is definitely high on my list. Food came out pretty fast 10-15 minutes and the workers were kind and courteous. Spam musubi was amazing and the chicken katsu was one of the best fried chickens I've ever had. I do think the BBQ chicken was a bit lackluster I'll need to try the kalula pork next time. Orders over $35 also get a free furikake chicken dish and that was great as well. All of the chicken was cooked perfectly, not dry at all. It's worth the price, it's enough for 2-3 meals. I would return and recommend!
Hawaii is one of my favorite spots in the world that I'd go back to in a heartbeat. I've been dreaming of Hawaiian food and sun, so when I heard about Hawaii Station coming to Edison, it was a no brainer for me to come and try it. I love the 'hawaiian' vibe of the restaurant, from the paintings, the decor and the Hawaiian Sun tropical fruit juice drinks that they serve. This restaurant is located in a strip mall so parking isn't an issue. The portions are HUGE. I opted for the bbq short ribs and chicken katsu combo which comes with two scoops of rice and macaroni salad. Could easily split with another person if you wanted. The short ribs were a bit dry and tough to eat given the loads of cartilage so I don't know if I would be itching to get this again. However, the katsu was delicious and came with a side of katsu sauce. They also have several low and high top tables you can enjoy your meal there. Also I wish they would invest in stronger utensils. I doubt I have the grip of hulk, but the tips of the fork would bend really easily to the point they snapped and we had to ask for a replacement. They also have a loyalty stamp card where you can eat your way to a free entree (after 10 stamps). Overall, would recommend giving it a try!

This small shop located off Route 1 has all your Hawaiian-esque food needs. Even if you dine-in, once you order at the counter, you'll get disposable utensils. There are also mini meals (which is what I got), and the portions were HUGE. I still took some for home. The sides include macaroni salad and rice. I believe they also have a buy 10 get 1 free promotion currently running. -Spam musubi: 5/5, what you would expect from a classic musubi- salty and savory spam on a bed of rice -Kalua pork: 5/5, smoky, juiccyyy soft and tender pork paired with crunchy cabbage -Lilikoi Lychee drink: 5/5, sweet and tangy lychee drink, very refreshing A good place to stop by especially if you're hankering for island food aloha, thanks for reading
This place is always packed with takeout orders, but its a great dine-in dinner or lunch option as well! Just note that regardless of dining in or taking out, you will get plastic utensils and takeout food containers, but there is seating available for you. The MUST HAVE here is the Kalua Pork, it is sooooo succulent, with a perfect smokey flavor, and the saltiness is perfectly counter-balanced with the white rice. The cold mac salad on the side really helps balance out any sort of greasy feeling too. The Kalua pork also has cabbage, which adds on a sweet note. This is definitely the best dish here and no matter who I come with, I will be getting this! My favorite thing here is that if you aren't feeling too hungry, they offer mini meals, which is a smaller portion of their regular entrees. This is perfect if you don't have a large appetite and don't want leftovers. This time we also got the BBQ mix combo, and while the BBQ chicken and beef were juicy and delicious, the short rib was a bit tougher than one would hope. Overall, this is a very casual place, perfect for a short stop if you are driving along Rt 1. I definitely highly recommend this place!
This place has pretty chill vibes. The whole time I was coming here I thought I was going to get poke but I ended up getting the chicken katsu and Kailua pork meal as I haven't had chicken katsu in sooo long. They have many menu options ranging from preset poke bowls, to make your own, combo meals, and mini meals. Drinks are about $2.50 a piece, and a wide variety of Hawaiian Sun, casual soda. I was tempted to get the mini meal since I don't eat a lot, but I ultimately caved and decided to get the combo meal since I wanted to try the Kailua pork too. The verdict? The Kailua pork was a little too salty for me, it comes mixed with like cabbage or lettuce, and overall very mushy which I didn't mind. However the Chicken Katsu came with a bbq type sauce and everyone thought the sauce was delicious. My fiance ordered the bbq mix which included the bbq chicken, beef, and short ribs and I thought the beef was so yummy. The portion size was big. All the combos come with either 1-2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad. My meal was pretty perfect for 2 whole meals for me. I ate the katsu with my leftover rice for breakfast the next morning! Excellent service - super helpful in answering questions about allergies. The ambiance is more mom + pop vibes and very clean. I went there for dinner on a weekday at around 6:30 and by 8pm it was starting to get busy. The food quantity is huge - I had enough to take home and have for two more meals. I ordered the half ribs and half beef - my only con is that it's very sweet, I needed some spice so when I went home I added jalapenos and heated it. They do have siracha tho if you'd like that. read more
It's not easy to find Hawaiian food around here, and this restaurant is definitely a nice, casual spot to try some. My favorite was the loco moco (hamburger patties served with fried eggs and mushroom gravy) while my husband's was the chicken katsu (hot and crispy fried chicken served with a tangy sauce). We all agreed kalua pork was a little less special, which tasted more like a mild bbq pulled pork with some cabbage. The staff were super friendly and helpful. The chicken combo had a nicely fried katsu with a tangy sauce and a creamy mac salad with good flavor. The chicken was juicy on its own. The tuna bowl was a solid poke bowl, had a good rice texture and mixture of ingredients. Service was quick and easy and it was a nice small place for a quick dinner bite. read more
My sister told me about this restaurant that is located off of route 1 south. The restaurant has plenty of seating for the customers. The staff: The cashier that was present at the time when we went should at least greet the customers when they come in and thank them for coming when they are leaving. Beef combo: The BBQ beef had flavor and was tender according to my friend. The BBQ beef short ribs were chewy and delicious. He said that he would definitely order this again next time. BBQ Chicken: This was a little dry and I do not like dry chicken. Maybe it should have some sauce to go with it or they should cook it a different way to make it less dry. BBQ Short Ribs: This was delicious and had enough flavor on the short ribs. It was not too chewy and was cooked to perfection. Loco Moco: The egg was juicy due to the egg yolk. The macaroni salad was ok, but it needs a little more flavor. The hamburger patties were not over cooked and was drenched with the mushroom gravy sauce. Maybe they should put the mushroom gravy sauce on the side or at least ask the customers. Overall: This was a pleasant experience, but I probably would not order the loco moco again next time. They also have a stamp card now where you buy 10 and get 1 free. read more

Stumbled upon this place when looking for something new to try on Easter Sunday. Friendly staff treated and took my order promptly. You can see the fresh ingredients for the salads. So colorful. Ordered the pink ocean salad, spam musubi, and bbq chicken musubi. Wow the raw salmon and tuna in the salad was so fresh and delicious. The chef secret sauce was a great balance of salty and sweet. Brightened up the whole meal. Spam and chicken musubi was a good snack, good size if not too hungry. Glad I came because there is so many dishes that I've never had. Will be back to try! read more

Had to check out this new Hawaiian style restaurant in Edison. The service here is quick, and the staff are extremely nice and gave great recommendations. The decorations are so pretty together. There is plenty of parking outside as well. For the food, the poke bowl is delicious! Enough sauce to cover the food and big portions to keep you full or take some home. My husband got one of their meat dishes, and he loved it. I would come back again because we had such a nice experience overall. read more

Came here for a weeknight dinner around 7:45pm and the place was pretty crowded. My wife and I love Hawaii and Hawaiian food so we had to check this place out. The menu and presentation gave me authentic Hawaiian food truck vibes with the combo meals and plastic containers and silverware. The food came out fairly quick for the amount of people there and the portion size was pretty generous. I ordered chicken combo which came with chicken katsu and bbq chicken. The chicken katsu was so everything you want in a katsu...juicy dark meat chicken with a crispy breaded crust. The bbq chicken was also good but didn't taste as fresh as the katsu. My wife ordered the bbq short rib plate. The short ribs were pretty tender and well seasoned with their Hawaiian style marinade. My one complaint about this dish was I think they should've cut the short ribs...especially if you're dining in because it's hard to cut short ribs with a plastic knife and fork. All main dishes come with two scoops of rice and Mac salad just like in Hawaii. The mac salad here tasted like a healthier version of your authentic mac salad because it had less mayonnaise and no sweetness to it. Lastly we ordered a spam musubi to share. It was nice and warm and tasted just as good as the ones in Hawaii. Overall I would definitely recommend this place if you're craving good Hawaiian food. I will definitely be back to try some of their other dishes. read more

Solid place. Can't go wrong with spam musubi. BBQ chicken musubi hit the spot with juicy and flavorful chicken. The loco moco had excellent gravy, with the patty on the chewier side, and perfect fried egg with runny yolk. Food ready in 15. BOGO free musubi Tuesday didn't register online so I just called them to get the discount. read more

Hawaii Station is pretty average in terms of food. I tried the create your own bowl and their BBQ chicken. The chicken in the bowl isn't very tasty, and the bowl itself is pretty average. I've definitely had better bowls elsewhere. The BBQ chicken is okay and nothing special. I'd like it more if it was served with more veggies. My food was ready before the pickup time, and the employee was very nice. The interior of the store is clean and looks decent. read more
Really wanted to love this place, but the food just didn't meet its expectations. -The BBQ Mixed Combo - The meats didn't have enough flavor. Just tasted a bit bland. -The Chicken Combo - the chicken katsu was too bready, super dry and over cooked. The sauce tasted like A1 instead of Katsu sauce. -The Hawaii classic and Salmon Lovers bowl were good (but that was coming from my kids mouth). -Spam Musabi- If you ever been to Hawaii and had spam musabi, you will feel a little disappointed. But I'm not in Hawaii so beggars can't be choosers. I will give this place another try, but wouldn't be on top of the list of places I need to go back to. read more

Ever since I came back from Hawaii last year, I've been dreaming of garlic shrimp and hawaiian sun juices. Lo and behold, Hawaii Station popped up in Edison to make my dreams come true. Hawaii Station is pretty small, so I suggest having maximum group of 4 people if you wanna dine in. I personally like to order ahead online and do takeout, which takes about 15 mins. The decor is simple, but eye catching and homely. I've loved every item that I've had at Hawaii Station with my favorites being chicken katsu, garlic shrimp, and spam musubi. The chicken katsu had plenty of breading and the chicken was juicy. The garlic shrimp was super garlicky and had a little spice. The spam musubi was a good size for $3! Also, Lilikoi Passion is my favorite flavor of Hawaiian Sun. None of the juices are too sweet and they're all refreshing. The portions of the plates are huge because the entrees come with 2 scoops of rice and macaroni salad, so you may want to split with someone or save the leftovers. I would like to try the poke one day, and if I enjoy it, Hawaii Station would go up to 5 stars! Overall, I'm glad to get my fill of Hawaiian plates at this restaurant until the next time I return to Hawaii. I highly recommend to check it out read more
We went to eat dinner here on a weekend. This place is like a hole in the wall dine-in restaurant. Small space with only about ten dine-in tables. The place is packed. The front cashier told me that about an hour wait for all orders. We decided to wait and place our order. It took them to serve our order only half an hour. We ordered dine-in short ribs with rice, salad and macaroni. The ribs were thinly sliced, not soft but a little bit hard. The macaroni is bland and not fresh in taste. The plastic utensil knife provided is not sufficient enough to slice the ribs, since the meat is not soft enough. Serving staff are friendly and attentive. This place is clean and well lighted. Only one mixed bathroom and no WiFi. Parking area is being shared with Dunkin Donuts. I will try other food in their menu when I get back, then I will write an update. read more

Food is spectacular. Comfort food to the max. I could order 10000 musubi from them and still want more. The combos are outmatched with their great taste by any other bowl place in the area. The service is fast, and the workers are nice and helpful. The restaurant is clean and has good music playing. I love coming here and hope they stick around for a long time. read more

Great selection of hawaiian food staples at this restaurant! They serve poké, saimin (!!!), plate lunches and musubis. It is a small restaurant, but they do have some seating available. The service was quick and they were very kind to explain dishes other customers are not familiar with. We ordered from their BBQ station and my oh my, the portion sizes were huge. Unless you're sharing, I would recommend ordering a mini meal instead. The loco moco had thick, juicy patties with a dark gravy. The kalua pork was smoky with just the right amount of saltiness. Now, the BBQ chicken saimin was the star dish that we had ordered from this place. Saimin really is hawaii's version of a ramen. I can't say it is authentic as I never got to try saimin when I was in Hawaii, but this was a hit out of the park in flavors for me. It was just perfect for the rainy weather that day. You could say I'm picky with my mac salad, but that was the one dish I didn't really like. Be sure to order a Hawaiian Sun juice to complete the meal. My go-to is always the Lilikoi Passion! read more
I give this place 3.5 starts. It a little place but clean. I got the chicken combo with bbq chicken and chicken katsu. I also got 2 drinks. A fruit punch and a pineapple orange drink. The food was still got after a 20 min ride home. The bbq chicken was ok. Im not a fan of dark meat. The chicken katsu was very crispy but i didnt like the way the meat looked. The bbq chicken was good, a little sweet. The mac salad was good but a bit bland. Everything came up to $20. read more

This is a great spot for a quick casual meal. The staff is friendly and quick. My recommendation is to get the Chicken Combo. The katsu is crispy and the bbq chicken is tender and delicious. It comes with a side of rice and mac & cheese salad. The shrimp and poke are also good. However, I wouldn't get the beef again. It tasted good, but the meat was tough. Other than that, everything else is great. I almost finished my stamp reward card! read more
