This is a classic fried seafood spot that my family has been coming to for generations. Our go-to order is the fried shrimp platter and fried scallops platter. High quality seafood, never fishy/smelly at all. Their fried batter also never come sour greasy, it's always light and crispy. No matter how busy this small shop gets, they have their ordering and cooking process down to a T, and you're usually out of there in less than 10 minutes! Sigh... I hate to lower my previous 4 star review to 3 stars, but I was incredibly disappointed with my food. I was heading back up north after a beautiful day at the Jersey Shore and decided to stop by the Keyport Fishery. This was my second visit. I had such a delicious meal during my first visit, so I had high hopes. I ordered the Lobster Sandwich, which is supposed to come with 1/3 lb of fish, fries, coleslaw, tartar sauce, and lemon. Current price on the menu states it's $15.01 as of July 2025. I asked the employees if the lobster was served warm with butter or cold with mayo. They told me it's served deep fried with a buttery bun. I hesitated because I wasn't sure if I would like it fried. I should've gone with my gut and ordered something else... but I really wanted lobster! My order was ready within a few minutes. I walked out (it's take-out only) with my bag, excited to dig my teeth in some delicious lobster. Man, I was DISAPPOINTED when I opened that brown paper bag. This was not a sandwich... It was two burger buns with liquid butter smeared on them... with a small portion of deep fried lobster wedged in between. The presentation was similar to a fast food franchise burger. It was COMICALLY SMALL. The side of fries was bigger than it. It's supposed to come with 1/3 lb of fish, but I doubt there was that much in it. The lobster had no flavor at all! Ugh, I am definitely not a fan of having it deep fried. PASS. The buns were fluffy, but that's the only positive thing I can say. The melted butter didn't add much flavor overall. They also forgot to give me tartar sauce and lemon, which I really could've used... given how flavorless the lobster was. $16 for crinkle cut fries and a sad lobster "sandwich". I finished it in a few bites since it was so small and I was still really hungry. Lesson learned - I will stick to their seafood platters. Way better bang for your buck. I'd skip the sandwiches. I will give them another try in the future and hopefully it'll be a positive experience like my first visit. read more

The move is to get your takeout box and sit on the dock across the street while you eat it. A neighbor suggested this spot with high praise and we decided to it. We went here on a Saturday for lunch. They only do take out. On days when the weather is good you can grab a box and sit outside too. There is plenty of parking available and the place was packed, some ordering takeout and some placing their Christmas orders. The line moves fast and the place is cash only I believe ( i could be wrong on that ). We got the combo platter, fried snow crab, 1/4 pound of the scallops and a spicy Louisiana crab soup. We were up for a road trip to the shore, so knowing that it can get very busy on the weekends, we timed our arrival for just before noon. Adorable little not quite a shack seafood market / to go restaurant. Note that almost everything on the menu was fried, except for maybe cocktail shrimp. I thought the combo would be the best bang for buck, and it really was. Plenty of food, and it would be definitely enough to share for two people or to have leftovers with. The combo plate came with fried scallops, flounder and shrimp, french fries and tartar sauce. Ample spaces in the parking lot and also free parking across the street. There are porta potties there (not well maintained, sadly), but we ate under a nice gazebo and had a view of the water on a beautiful cool summer day. We brought our own drinks. read more

Fried food has a bad rap but it's so satisfying to eat ! This is a to cash only place and they serve fresh fried everything seafood . Walk in to a rather small fishy smelling storefront that was l packed , look up their long menu displayed and order your meal . We went easy and ordered the Louisiana crab soup and shrimp & Scallop meal with fries and coleslaw . Not very crispy yet golfers fried goodness with toast inside sweet form the natural flavor of scallops and shrimp . Side of cri kept cut fries wasn't crispy as expected but it was still good . The tartar sauce and coleslaw were top of line traditional simple No frills attached ! The soup was a tomato broth based and has no seafood smell but good crab chunks and flavor. You have to take your meal to your car and eat which is the only challenge( if you see it that way )! We were aware and were ok with eating in our car with a lovely view of the waterfront on a warm day . Perfect setting for a non greasy fried meal . The inside wasn't very appealing but they are not marketing their place as anything fancy so it's perfectly ok. It's self service and food is ready fast so no complaints there either . What is not to love about Keyport fishery! Very old school style fishery where you can order takeout or fresh seafood from the market. I always get a good meal every time I go in there whether it's a fish sandwich, fried scallops or shrimp it is always delicious and fresh! Fries are always on point too. Great nautical fishery feel inside and the staff is always helpful and gets you in and out of there in minutes. On a nice day you can grab your fresh seafood takeout and go sit in the marina for a beautiful view with your meal or even if it's not so nice out you can sit in your car in the marina and still enjoy the view. Pre-ordered for Christmas Eve, pound and a half of flounder, shrimp, haddock and fries. Even though I pre-ordered they ran out of flounder so I had to sub haddock. After waiting a reasonable amount of time after checking in my order was ready. Went home took cover off and was wrong order! No haddock, there was shrimp and I'm guessing clam strips and something else. How do you run out of something when you have taken pre-ordere. Obviously no one checks to make sure orders are right. I came here for lunch during my excursion to the Jersey Bayshore. The fried whole belly clams get two thumbs down. Sadly, they were bland. I could barely taste the clams. So I squeezed some fresh lemon on them, hoping to boost their flavor. It didn't. So I dipped them in some tartar sauce. That did not help, either, even though the tartar sauce is the best tasting one that I have ever had in my transglobal culinary adventures from roadside stands in New England to North Sea-side restaurants in Benelux. The clams weren't that crispy, either. Maybe it was the cooking oil. The best whole belly clams are fried in fresh oil, top chefs say. I wonder if these were local clams. Or were they shipped from out of State? Maybe I should have ordered the flounder sandwich. Staff tells me that that is "hands down" their best selling fried fish.
