$400 Paid. Repeated Unreturned Requests. A Changed Court Date I Had to Discover Myself.
I deeply regret hiring The Ticket Clinic. Based on my experience with its out-of-state service, I would strongly advise prospective clients to look elsewhere.
I paid a $400 fee, described as nonrefundable, in early August 2026 for representation concerning an Iowa speeding ticket. My pretrial conference was scheduled for September 15. I expected basic communication, timely updates, and access to the attorney handling my case. Instead, I repeatedly had to chase the firm for information.
Over the following weeks, I called several times seeking updates and an opportunity to speak with my attorney. I did not get the substantive answers or attorney conversation I was requesting.
On September 8, the firm emailed me explaining that no further reduction had been obtained and presented two options: plead guilty and pay the citation, or pay an additional $1,000 for trial representation.
Before making that decision, I wanted to understand what my attorney had attempted and ask important questions about my options. I called repeatedly. Staff told me they would arrange contact with my attorney. The promised call never came. Being asked to choose between a guilty plea and another $1,000 payment, while being unable to speak with the lawyer advising me, was incredibly frustrating.
Then, on the morning of September 15, I called again. Only during that call was I told that my pretrial conference had been continued to October 20. I had received no email or telephone notification of that change beforehand.
I subsequently contacted the court clerk myself. The clerk told me the continuance had been granted on September 8, a full week earlier. That was the same day the firm emailed me about pleading guilty or paying another $1,000 for trial.
The firm communicated the additional trial fee, but it did not communicate the change to my court date. I had to call the firm to discover the new date and then contact the court myself to learn when the continuance had been granted.
I understand that hiring a lawyer does not guarantee dismissal or a favorable outcome. That is not my complaint. My complaint is paying for representation and then repeatedly being left without answers, without the promised attorney conversation, and without timely notice of an important court-date change.
This was not merely disappointing service. It left me feeling ignored and unsupported while I was trying to make an important legal decision. Clients should not have to chase a law firm repeatedly for basic information about their own cases.
I paid for legal help, not the added stress of pursuing the people I hired for answers. I would never hire The Ticket Clinic again. Based on my experience, I strongly recommend choosing another firm, especially if reliable communication and access to your attorney matter to you.
My case remains pending. This review concerns my experience with the firm's communication and handling of my case. read more
