I bought my bow a few years ago from the other store on the Peninsula but after having shot it a few thousand times and having it taken apart to get Hydro-dipped, it didn't shoot the same again. I took it to Wayne at Archery Only and he tweaked it so it shot like better than new again. My bow is running so well. Why did I not go here before? Super helpful and friendly. The atmosphere of the store is nice and it isn't over cluttered. The staff greets you when you walk in and there wasn't any pressure to sell you anything. I found this place on Yelp and since I was going to be in the area I dropped in to get adjustments to my bow, namely draw weight and a general look over and tune to make sure that bow was safe. The technician there adjusted my draw weight as well as cam timing and from there I thought all was well. Rewind back to when I first came in, customer service here was non-existent. No one asked if I needed help and I was greeted by a cold demeanor by the 2 people there. Fast forward to now I had the same bow brought into another archery shop in Gilroy to re-adjust draw weight and they found so much wrong with the bow - cam timing way off, cam bolts were improperly screwed in, a cam stop missing and few other things that the Gilroy archery shop found were basic adjustment items that were not taken care of by Archery Only during their look over - maybe they just missed it? There was another guy at the Gilroy archery shop that was commenting about arrows cut by Archery only and they were cut too short and built sloppy. Not sure what was going on this day, they are very likely a good shop, but not that day I came in. They seemed to have a good selection of bows and accessories. Over crowded. Besides the group lesson, others using the place and had to shot in groups, there for half the time on the range. Plus the non group people slowed down the entire process. Instruction was how to use the bow, once we began shooting, nothing on how to aim, how to improve, what we were doing wrong, what was the point in the lesson??? At the end , we had to say bye. TERRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! My husband and I went there to purchase a compound bow, accessories, and other stuff for a recurve. So we were planning on spending well over $1,000. We walked into the store and there was only 1 other person in there. The sales clerk proceeded to have a casual conversation with the other person there (I'm assuming it was someone he knew). He didn't welcome or greet us in anyway. So I thought, well... maybe he doesn't want to "jump" on us as soon as we walk in (although I don't consider a friendly "hello" or "welcome" jumping...) but we were there for almost 1/2 an hour and he never even acknowledged us. So I walked up to the counter so he KNEW that I had a question (or wanted to speak with him), and still nothing. He proceeded to have his casual conversation with his friend and didn't even give us the time of day. I was infuriated! So, we walked out, drove to Pacifica Archery and were treated VERY WELL! Super friendly and very knowledgeable. So... they got our $1,350... and we will NEVER go back to Archery Only. Let me be clear on one point... I don't expect the world to stop when I walk into a store. I don't expect people to drop whatever their doing to run up and greet me. All that I/we ask is to be ACKNOWLEDGED! All he would have had to say is something like, "Hi there... let me just finish with this guy and I'll be right with you." ANYTHING!!! But to stand in a SMALL store within spitting distance of someone for over a 1/2 hour and not be acknowledged is COMPLETELY unacceptable. Archery is still a thing- who knew? Took advantage of a great groupon deal, 1 hour lesson for 4 people for $53. Reserve your time online and be sure to show up on time. Shooting is done indoors at this archery range/ real deal pro shop with animal head trophies mounted all over. The intro lessons are basic instruction on safety and technique along with individual help as you are shooting. Our group of 8 rotated 4 at a time to shoot 5 arrows each time. We had 4 or 5 turns- enough to make you want to shoot more even tho your arms and shoulders are starting to ache... Finish your last shot by shooting a balloon from 7 yards--gulp. When it's over, there are flyers to grab if you're interested in lessons- no attempts at selling anything, then the next group is signed in. I don't recall the instructors introducing themselves, but the gentleman was very patient and helpful for those (just me) lacking coordination. Came here for the Groupon deal and it was a great learning experience. Our instructor was kind and patient with us rookies. Taught us all of the basics on how to properly shoot a recurve bow. The lesson lasted an hour but we had more then enough time to shoot the bow and keep practicing. This really got me interested in archery and I intend to continue with this hobby. read more

NOT a good store for kids!!!!!!! Hmmm.... All I can say to that surly, arrogant salesperson is "PLUCK YOU!" I happen to have a kid who finally found a sport that he really is passionate about! He saved up several hundred dollars of his own money to buy his first bow and couldn't wait to get to this store to buy a really good bow. This was a big deal and we were both pretty excited. We had done our homework. A fellow archery friend gave us all the scoop on a particularly great bow that my son's friend used and really liked. My son wanted to check it out and learn about the different bows, etc. So, we drive 45 minutes to this place that's supposed to have really helpful customer service. My son tells the salesguy he wants a recurve bow. Without any questions or chatting with my son to figure out who he is and what his needs are, this guy goes and picks up one box, starts putting it together and tells him this is all you need for "plucking." Hmm... well, maybe if there were any humor or kindness in his demeanor, this might have been taken as a joke or an icebreaker. However, we didn't detect any humor or hidden smiles. Then, when my son said that might not be the bow he's looking for, the guy then asks my son if he's training for the olympics. When he said no, he's just been shooting at a range, the guys tells him "you're just a plucker and you don't need anything better than this." I could just see the enthusiasm drain from my son's face. My son then asked me if we could go outside and talk. He was humiliated. We left. What a jerk. read more

Staff is friendly and helpful; however, prices are on the high side, you may get better pricing online, or through factory, which may show a lower MSRP. My brother and I went here to to check out some classes. Upon entering no one greeted us. We were polite and looked around and when we approached a worker who wasn't busy he snapped at us when we asked simple questions. Over all the vibe of this place was rude and over all we felt there was poor customer service. We took our business elsewhere. I came here for a beginners course and it was ok. We were given a brief safety lesson and started shooting. Once shooting, they won't come up to help you, unless you really don't know what you are doing. I came here a few days later looking to buy a bow. I noticed that the prices for their products are way over priced. One of the items I was looking at is 40 dollars over the normal retail price. I asked the worker if they match prices with lancasterarchery.com and he said no, because they take shipping into consideration. But on lancasterarchery.com, they don't charge for shipping on orders more than 150 dollars. So I told the worker that it will be free shipping anyways, but he just repeated himself saying they were taking shipping into consideration. That makes no sense. I would be fine if the shop charges 10 dollars more since they are taking the time to let me try the products out, but 40 dollars more is a little ridiculous. After looking at the products I was interested in, I would have paid 90 dollars more than if I were to buy them somewhere else. Think twice before buying products here. read more

I'll preface this by saying I did go in right as they opened and they were still setting up, but I've experienced better customer service in a walmart. I went in wanting to buy a bow, and I had numerous questions about grip size, draw weight, other stores, pricing, arrow length, outdoor ranges, etc, and every answer I received was curt and as short as possible, with no helpful suggestions. When I first walked in, all 3 employees looked up, made eye contact, said nothing and went back to what they were doing. I had to pull every bit of information out of them; nothing at all was offered as advice or help. That being said, they were very knowledgeable about Archery, but equally as dim about customer service. A few of our interactions went as such: 'Could I get measured for arrow length?' '...What?' 'Do you have one of the measuring arrows to figure out what length arrows I should get?' 'Oh, yeah' '.........Could I get measured?' *got measured* '30 inches' 'So, what size arrow does that correspond to?' '...What?' 'Should I get 30 inch arrows, or a bit longer, what?' (pardon me for assuming that a customer saying 'may I get measured?' would make the employee find the measuring device, measure, and explain what the measurement means) And my favorite: 'Is there any difference in grip size?' 'No.' '....But this one feels a bit small, are there any other, larger bows?' 'No.' 'If I got one with detachable limbs, couldn't I get a different riser, with a larger grip size?' '............' An easy 0 out of 5 if I can! We were having a group of 10 to celebrate birthday party there. My 8 years boy only tried 1 arrow on my lane to test his strength but was charged extra full lane/hour price when we checked out. Staffs were sitting behind us, watching and nobody reminded us switching people could possibly against their rules of charging. This's nothing about money at that point. The staffs there were being so rude and show unrespectful in 30 mins argument with us, and still not willing to offer any discount for a kid who can't even tighten the bow. Even thought I still have 2 tickets left in my pocket, I would never be there again and recommend any of my friends this place, where they don't care about the customer experience at all. What a robbery and I fully understand now why the stadium was empty when we came in!!! read more

I've taken their one session into to archery lesson, am most of the way through their six lesson "Archery 101" class, and have rented a lane a couple of times for an hour. First off the classes - the instructors are great, everything's very professional. You start shooting right away with the basic $30 class. I was expecting more lecture and less shooting but they got right to it. By the end of the hour everybody was doing pretty OK. The 101 class works out to $25/session and they provide gear so it's the same price as just renting a lane with gear. Sometimes you do end up shooting relays (taking turns) but it takes a while to build up the muscle to shoot for a whole hour straight without fatigue so at that level it's not really an issue. Just something to be aware of. I've rented a lane a couple of times and there was no drama. They'll get you a suitable bow and arrows and such and make sure you have some idea what you're doing and leave you to it. If you've never shot before do the $30 class first - it's only five bucks more. If you can make it mid-week it's not very crowded and you can shoot a ton in an hour (and probably be really sore after - it's a workout if you're not used to it). The guy next to me today was bow shopping and they were bringing him different models to try - very low key and they were very honest that while the thousand dollar bow was smoother really the five hundred dollar bow wasn't going to be any less accurate. Likewise the first time there were some college students bow shopping and they steered them bows that were perfectly good starter bows - not junk at all - but half the price of what they were looking at. They're not even vaguely pushy, it's basically here's some info, do what you want, let me know if you need any help. I appreciate that but if you want some hand holding I think you need to tell them that. I can see how you would get a situation like the review of 2/14 where he was trying to repurpose a Groupon designed to get newbies into shooting into cheaper lane rental, and then acting like he was too good for lessons. The thing is, if you own a bow it's only $10 to shoot (or $75 for a ten hour card) so I don't quite get the guy who feels like he's above lessons but doesn't even own a bow. read more

It's nice to walk into a pro shop where the guys don't give you the hard sell, but take the time to show you all your options. I found them to be knowledgeable, honest and took time to let me shoot a number of bows before making a decision (which I didn't even make that day). If you're just getting started with archery like I am, I'd recommend these guys to show you the ropes, and help you dial in your bow. If you're already a pro, you'll find a nice indoor range, and a huge selection of PSE, Bowtech, Hoyt, and Montana Black Gold illuminated sites that are awesome. read more

I had a new string put on my PSE by Achery Only. I went to sight in and found my groups were not very tight. I played around with sights, rest, etc... for a week, with limited results. I called Wayne to see if he had any suggestions. He said to come in as soon as I get a chance. Went in the following day. Wayne looked over the bow. Made a number of small adjustments, also noticed the rest was a little off center. Also noticed my wisker bisket was to large for the carbon arrows I was shooting. Wayne also noticed when I shoot my draw length is longer than my bow will allow. After those adjustments, Wayne had me shoot a couple groups, much better, Wayne provided some technique tips also. In a matter of 40 minutes Wayne had me shooting tight groups again vs the hours I had spent. Once the season is over I will be headed back to Achery Only in search of a new bow that fits me correctly. FYI - My bow was purchases and set up by a large outdoor retailer. I have been bow hunting for 25 years. I'm not an expert but pretty knowledgeable in the sport. I enjoyed the tips and suggestions by Wayne ... it is never to late to learn. read more

Loved this place. Went for the first time on my birthday. Did the 101 beginner lesson. They teach you how to aim and shoot properly. Also, if its your birthday, you get to shoot two balloons with the dart while everyone else has one balloon to shoot. It was fun. Can't wait to go again. read more

My first archery experience was great! I'll admit that when I first came to the location, I wasn't too impressed. Once you walk into Archery only, you enter a room where they sell archery items such as bows. Pass that will be the archery field. This is indoors by the way. There are about 8 lanes [correct me if im wrong]. I came here with the groupon which was such a great deal! I had a night appointment and luckily it was just me and my friends. The previous session had people switching off, which i think each individual had less time to actually shoot. But my session was great! The instructors were kind and really helped us with different tips. They're so helpful that all of us were able to get bulls eye :D With the intro archery lesson, they teach you the basics in 10 minutes and after that you're basically shooting the whole time. I would definitely recommend this as a great activity with friends and family. I would give them 5 stars, but there was a rude man at the cashier who was giving me attitude when I just wanted to clarify things about the lesson and groupon. So in total they get 4.5 stars in my book! read more

This archery pro shop is awesome. I know there aren't many pro shops around but if they were on every street corner this would be my pro shop. I went in yesterday just to do some research and shop around for my first compound hunting bow. The associate who helped me Rodger was very polite, very informative, and he didn't seem like most salesmen who try to talk you into buying top of the line, multiple hundred dollar accessories just to start with. He explained to me which parts were what and how they affected the performance and shooting style of each bow. I instantly felt comfortable when I walked into Archery Only, and unlike a couple other pro shops ive visited I was allowed to "test drive" the bow I was thinking of purchasing. Even before talking about any prices or if I was even going to purchase anything that day. Not only was I allowed to shoot, Rodger even tuned the bow a little to fit my stature better. If your currently involved in the sport of archery or even if you have a slight interest this is the shop to go to. During the time I was allowed to try out the PSE Stinger. Rodger was beside me the whole time, giving tips and pointers about every aspect of taking your shot. All in all I believe this is a great shop/range to visit at least. I learned a lot by simply asking a few basic questions. Not to mention the $10/hour shooting lanes and 10 free hours if you purchase your bow from them. read more

Archery Only serves as a great location to fire off quivers of arrows, and get expert advice on bow-knowledge. Ever so often I'll practice my recurve here, but I'm still not very good. It's a great place to get one or two friends together and just shoot for a few hours, it only costs a few dollars an hour. I had visited several archery shops while collecting information on which bow was right for me. So going into Archery Only, I thought I knew what to expect- I was wrong! They are there to turn you on to the passion of archery the right way. They ask questions in order to recommend products. They were willing to take what time was required to answer your questions. They provide real and honest answers, not salesmanship. Most importantly they are willing to set you up and shoot products so you can really make an honest decision on your purchase. We had a great first archery lesson (intro to archery) with Lori. We had a 5-star experience with safety, instruction, price and fun -- however, with the lesson packed at 8 people for the hour, as well as a bit of confusion for scheduling, When we walked in, it was also a little confusion for where we should go -- there were lots of people, and we weren't sure who was working there. We're giving it 4 stars for now. We'll definitely be back to check out equipment for purchase and possibly more lessons. read more

I went in to Archery Only to buy my first hunting bow and haven't a clue about them. There customer service was outstanding. I was in there for 3 hours being taught 1 on 1 about shooting a bow and trying about 8 different ones untill I found the right one for me. The man that helped me was willing to spend that time with me even if i didnt buy one that day, in fact he didn't want me to buy one he wanted me to keep coming back untill i found the perfect bow for me. Bought my Hoyt Ruckus a few years ago, along with a case, arrows and the rest. Great service. I'm from the Central Valley so I'm not up here too often, but when I am, I always stop by. They have a great indoor range and the instructors are first rate. I've looked at a few negative reviews on this site and it seems to me its mostly people complaining who have no idea how archery, and indoor ranges, work. I had to revisit my review and rating due to some over the top awesomeness from the guys at Archery Only. They've been our home range now for close to two years. In those two years, I've seen improvements in the staff, their customer service, and the overall shop. Wayne & Roger are our go-to experts for anything from form to equipment. When our bows and accessories were stolen out of our car a few weeks ago, they quickly reordered and helped us select replacement equipment - as well as helped us by reprinting our receipts for our insurance claim. The range is still a bit loud at times, but it's a small price to pay for excellent service and the huge wealth of knowledge that they offer. read more
