Good vibes! The great thing about our visit is we connected with the owner, who was running around with little to no help, serving everyone quicky and efficiently. It's fun to get to know the heart and soul of a restaurant. The other great thing was that the food was comforting, it was warm on a cold, rainy day. We came in spur of the moment, grabbing dinner after work. It just so happened that the beer cooler was broken, so no beer for hubs. We decided to share the Molcajete, and it was definately large enough to fill us both. It was a mix of beef & chicken, covered in delicious red sauce with onions, tomatoes and mushrooms (we opted for no green pepper), covered in cheesy goodness. Our dish was loaded with button mushrooms, and they were devine. It was served with a plate of rice, beans, pico de gallo & avocado. With the complimentary chips, salsa and refried beans, we had more than enough. The interior was typical for a mexican restaurant, a bit on the worn side. The service was quick, food was piping hot! I used to love this place so much but honestly I'm surprised they are still in business. They don't seem to want people in the bar and they close way to early. They also keep bringing the quality of the food down. They used to have zucchini in their chicken dish and so much flavor in the molcajete. Been meaning to go to this restaurant for several years now and we finally did last Sunday. The place was very clean which was a good in the food was very tasty. We really liked the salsa that came with the chips. However, the plate that I ordered which was a small combo was like a children's plate rather than a plate for an adult. The enchilada that came with it was only about maybe 5 in long. One of the smallest. I've ever seen the meat filling in it, although it was tasty was very watery. The refried beans were burnt and you can taste the scorch in the beans. My wife ordered a margarita and it came with no salt on the rim but the waitress brought it anyway and in a few minutes. Then she mentioned she forgot to add the salt. It seems to me she was new with the ordering method on the pad because it took her a long time to figure out how to work it. My wife ordered a larger combo which looked okay except the enchilada instead of the red sauce came with a green sauce which the waitress mentioned as soon as she brought it to us she shouldn't have even brought it. Should have just had them redo it. I'm not sure if we'll give it another try because there were just too many mistakes with the order and putting out burned. Food is not good. So we'll keep looking for a New Mexican restaurant to make it a regular visit. read more

The only thing good here is their nachos and ice water. The arroz con pollo I had was slop. Utter slop. I thank God I'm not rushing to the restroom right now. The nachos was good. The fried ice cream was drenched in whip cream and chocolate syrup. It was like made by a high schooler. I adore this family run place. They recently added a breakfast menu so my bff went in to try it out. YUMMY! I had a plate fully of scrambled eggs with provolone, crispy bacon and avocado along with seasoned potatoes. It was too good to stop eating but, with so much food, I couldn't finish my plate. Stopped by this place before a massage on our way back to Dallas from Seattle--it was awesome!! The salsa is spicy and delicious, not bland like a lot of places. My soup was HUGE and super hot with lots of chicken and avocado--DELISH. My fiancé had the chimichanga with ground beef that he said was very good. I had a margarita which the owner, Archie, said she pre-makes herself in-house--it was DELICIOUS. The best part was the service--Archie works the restaurant like a performer working a room. Me and my boyfriend had been wanting to try Archie's for quite some time. We heard nothing but good things. We went there and had the whole place to ourselves. The service was still pretty slow considering. We waited about 10 minutes just for our drinks alone. We both ordered an alcoholic drink, shared a SMALL chicken nachos, and shared some churros for dessert. Somehow our bill came out to $100! I was shocked! Archies was our fourth test site and suffice it to say, we won't be looking further anytime soon. From the chips and quac to the fried ice cream, everything we ordered was outstanding and the service exceptional. Archie is female and the owner. Finally, I decided to grab some Mexican food just because it's right there next to my apartment complex. My thought of Archie's is it's an okay restaurant if you want a quick bite of Mexican food. The hostess and the waitress were attentive and served us chips, salsa, pickled vegetables, and refried bean dish. The menu consists of huge entrees portion, and you have your choices of dinner combo, too. There is also the selection for smaller dinner entree if you're not a big eater like I am. Fabulous! Normally the salsa and chips are just okay at restaurants, but Archie's was a step above the rest. Salsa was perhaps the best I've had at a restaurant. Perfectly spiced. First time here I ordered the two chalupas and wished I had someone to share it with. Huge platter of food. My only knock on Archie's is they didn't have any apparent vegetarian plates, which I prefer. I imagine a cheese enchilada was possible. But the food was so good I give it 5 stars. Update: back in the area again and ordered this to see if it was as good as I remember. Yes! And my comment on the salsa still stands. So good. For one person, order the 1 chalupa combo. More than enough food Update: feb 28, 2020 No longer a 5 star. Downgraded. Still looks great on the plate, but bland tonight. Artchie's is family owned and operated! It used to be down in Des Moines but then moved into Normandy Park a few years ago because of a bad landlord! Archie works the restaurant daily and her husband does some of the cooking! The flavors of the food are on point! Last time I was there I ordered a Mexican pizza! That thing was so big that I ate for two days on it and I gave some to my daughter and it was under $12! I will be going back for more of that! A car motor laying off to the left of the building and debris laying around the area. But you sometimes those places have the best food - right? Unfortunately that was not the case. The place was virtually empty although it was lunch time. I ordered #10. Two tacos and beans and rice. The taco shells were over cooked (brown) and oily tasting. Absolutely no taste to the meat or the but. Except oil. Same with the beans and rice. You know those Mexican restaurants where no matter what you order everything tastes the same? Zero taste. I went there for dinner there other night because I was craving some Mexican food. The carne asada was excellent. A little overcooked (I requested medium, medium rare) and it came out well done. My family and I have been going to Archie's for years and really enjoy the food. However, our visit this past weekend will most likely be our last. Every time we have been there lately, there is a couple with three little kids (Archie's daughter or son?) and the children are running around, screaming, and being disruptive. We are choosing this restaurant for a nice meal, not the ambiance of a day care center. Please, tell the relatives to stay at home - it's costing you business. Hands down best Mexican food I have ever had! To start the lady working was very quick to seat us and bring us drinks the chips were fresh and hot the beans and salsa were amazing! So much flavor! The beans were clearly not dumped out of a can. I ordered the polla con creama OMG there are no words to explain how good it was. Waiting for churros as I type this review. My husband tried this place on one of his work trips. We drove here from Lakewood today just so I could try the food. I have a feeling anytime we want Mexican food we will be taking a trip here! Good Mexican restaurants are hard to find in Washington. They're even getting hard to locate in Southern California, where I frequently go for business. It seems many people suffer from an entrepreneurial​ seizure and think they can run a Mexican restaurant. I think the reason surrounds the relative​ simplicity of Mexican food. Many of the dishes are the same core incredients. That said, I find massive variances in quality. Many Mexican restaurants I visit around here are no better than Taco Del Mar at double or triple the price! Archie's is NOT one of those me-too restaurants. The menu items are delicious. There is care that goes into them. The sauces are not from a can; the salsa is made from and not from a supplier. You can taste how they use better ingredients​ than most. The food is the best I've had in traditional Mexican food space. Flavorful, fresh, and prepared perfectly. In the future, I will go out of my way to visit Archie's. Oh, and the Cadillac Margaritas are excellent as well. ​ read more
