Was in the area and was craving Mexican food. When we were seated, we were served a bowl of hot and fresh chips. It came with their amazing salsa that had a nice kick to it. They also gave us a warm bean dip. For the food, we ordered the Chicken Mexican Pizza and Ground Beef Nachos. Both items were delicious and a cheesy delight. The amount of cheese was perfect for the portion size. Our server in the bar area as very friendly and provided good service. Drinks were refilled in a timely fashion. I loved the decor which made you feel like you were in Mexico. Looking forward to going back and trying other items. read more

Went and had Lunch at Azteca Mexican Restaurant there today Wednesday August 12 around 1130am The service was ok noticed the atmosphere had a weird vibe !!!! Hadn't been there for a couple of months The surroundings just wasn't like it used to be friendly and happy? The food was different and dirty ? Found a couple of things on Water glass I was drinking and the meet burrito plate that I had Justin taste Like I had before had some burnt pieces of meat and onions !!!! And I'm on paying the bill I paid with a $20 bill And when the waitress returned with the change, she slam the coins on the table and the dollar bills But really what really got me was her attitude upon receiving a change and a dollar bills who slams the coins on the table? Excellent Margaritas and service, but the food was a letdown. ​I visited Azteca Mexican Restaurant recently. On the positive side, the atmosphere was great, the service was attentive, and the Azteca Margarita was delicious and well-made. ​However, the food was disappointing this time. I ordered the Mexican Rice Bowl and Tacos al Pastor, but both lacked flavor and were not as good as I expected. It feels like the food quality has declined compared to my previous visits. So disappointed . Love Azteca but the service at the Tukwila location is just so lackluster that it ruins the whole experience. Azteca happy hour is generally the highlight of a work week and I have gone 4 times hoping that it would get better. Never got better. I think the staff is complacent and just doing the minimum. Have had to ask for a menu (2x), have had to go to the bar to ask for the check, have even had to flag down a waitress because all the staff was hanging out chatting. Last straw was the bartender peeling & eating an orange behind the bar. Really sad to leave a bad review. read more

Their happy hour on Saturday is fantastic! I went with a friend for lunch and it was sooo good! I had a meeting for a few clients and came here and the food was good! Definitely better than I expected. I got an old fashioned. It was $15, which I think is insane, but inflation is the theme right now and not really an Azteca issue. The flavor was fine. Chips and salsa were fine. Chips were fresh. I ate a slice of the Mexican pizza. It was good, but I'm generally not the biggest fan of super thin pizza like this. I like pizza where the crust has more presence. We ordered the tacos al pastor. I thought those were quite good, a relatively respectable street taco. Mainly, the meat was fatty and juicy, and they didn't put too much other crap on it aside from cilantro, onion, and a lime wedge. Of course, I still loaded it with more stuff, but giving the meat a chance to talk is important for a street taco. Nice thick wraps. Finally, I noticed something called a molcajete on the menu. I don't remember having this before, so I had to try it. It's like a Mexican curry stew...thing (well molcajete, I guess, refers to the bowl itself, which also doubles as like a mortar?). I opted for steak, but our server (I think his name was Fausto?) suggested getting mixed meats instead, which was technically not on the menu. Thanks bro. By my count, there were four types of meat. My favorite, by far, would be the beef in the stew itself. This was smoky, tender, and had absorbed the umami of the stew. After that, I would rank them as 1) prawns 2) steak 3) chicken. The prawns were fat and gained great flavor from everything. The steak was kinda overdone and just okay. Finally, the chicken was your generically dry and rubbery American garbage. Also, having all that meat hanging out of the bowl looks good, but doesn't make much sense in terms of logistics or food pairing. I still have to transfer that huge slab of chicken to a plate to cut it or start ripping chunks off with my teeth. My preference would be to have both the steak and the chicken in bite size pieces to begin with. Oh yeah, the jalapeño in the molcajete was super spicy. So spicy that I didn't think it was a jalapeño, but Fausto said it was. I had no problem eating part of it, but see, like, I can eat really spicy food. If I thought it was super spicy, some *cough* white *cough* person is going to end up in the hospital at some point. LOL read more

The to-go experience here is also very good. They package everything wonderfully and depending where you live, the food arrives quickly. Everything we ordered was still hot when it came to our house. Tried their queso for the first time and it was fantastic. Of course, the crispy tortilla chips are a delight. The spouse always loves the carne asada *which can sell out for delivery, I've noticed. Never a bad time at Azteca. As the memes say, I never saw anyone not happy eating Mexican food (this is probably not true but it's a nice fantasy and it's always true for me!). I grew up with Azteca and always appreciate their friendly familial service and fun themed interior as well. read more

Azteca never disappoints! You are always greeted right away with friendly faces and they are so quick to bring chips and salsa. Ceviche was so fresh, tortilla soup was delicious, queso steak fries and carne asada packed with flavor! They have the BEST carne asada! Every dish came out hot and perfectly prepared, from the chips and salsa to the main courses. You can really tell they care about quality. The service was just as impressive. Our server Bruna was friendly, attentive, and made sure we had everything we needed without ever having to ask. She always goes above and beyond and is so fast and efficient. We felt genuinely welcomed and well taken care of the entire time. Between the great food and excellent service, we will keep coming back! read more

I haven't eaten here in 20+ years because I no longer live in the area but decided this would be a good place to go with family during a quick overnight in Tukwila. I still love the atmosphere here! Saltillo tile, grand ceilings and good lighting. The server was very friendly but he was a slow. The food was good but not amazing. My husband and I split a Mexican pizza and a pollo ala Crema. The tortillas that came with the pollo dish were flour, quite small and we only got three. The chips are a little thicker than I prefer and the salsa was quite mild. Went to the bar for some appetizers and drinks on a Thursday night around 7. Maybe 6 other customers there. Bartender didn't come over for at least 10 mins. There were no servers in the bar but him. Ordered nachos and taquitos. The nachos were dry like had been sitting under a heat lamp before we got them.. Very little cheese and they did not come out piping hot like they just made them. and even chips didn't seem fresh. The taquitos were good but nothing great. Bartender never came over to check on us so I went up to the bar and told hm we want another round of drinks. I have been going to local Azteca's for many years. Since Covid I have seen the food there going downhill. When the bartender brought the check (with the un eaten crummy nachos still on the table) I pointed to the nachos and said no bueno. He said yes, no bueno. Thought he might have taken the price of them off the bill but..nope. There are too many good Mexican restaurants in the area to ever come back to Azteca. read more

We both carne asada which was delicious beef skirt steak. Serves with rice and beans (bit too salty) . We mistakenly ordered chicken taquitos as appetizers and out came a full platter of 1 inch thick chicken wrapped an fried in flour tortillas! We thought they were the skinny rolls. Was good served with sour cream and fresh mashed guacamole. By time we get our entree we wee full. Was delicious but next time no taquitos. I wished they had more authentic items like steak picado in tomatoes onion bell peppers stewed. Overall we walked out full and satisfied. Service was friendly and prompt. Now I know why the parking lot was mostly empty on a Saturday afternoon..... The food was good - but you get VERY little of it for the prices they're charging. I ordered the tacos pastor; you get three tacos with about 3/4 of a cup of filling spread out amongst the three corn tortillas. The sad little tortillas folded inward because they were so empty. Maybe a half a cup of refried beans spread across your plate, and a cup of Spanish rice. I understand eating out at restaurants is an expensive proposition anymore - and we've cut down on doing so for that reason. But - you don't want to feel like you're being taken advantage of - and we left feeling this way. Great service. Won't be back though. read more

Stopped by during lunch on a Tuesday afternoon with a couple of friends. We were starving. The place was empty. My hopes for good service were high. I ordered the Jalisco enchiladas. After scarfing down a basket of chips and salsa, I was served a plate of completely burnt and dried out enchiladas. I mistakingly tried to take a bite any way. It was like trying to eat a fingernail. Why would you even serve this plate to a customer??? I ate some of the rice and beans and when the waitress came by one of my friends mentioned the burnt food, she called over the manager. He looked at it and said "ya, it's overcooked". No apology, no offer for new enchiladas. They just whisked the plate away as if that would solve the problem. The bad service started from the time I walked in, we waited over 5 minutes before the host ever walked over and greeted us to sit us at a table. We almost left right as she finally walked over. The server was not the best and the food was not good. I ordered the lunch chicken fajita's and the service size was decent- I got 3 tacos out of it. The chicken lacked flavor and seasoning. I don't think they season the chicken at all. The chips were ok, but the salsa wasn't very good or flavorful either. The server forgot to bring my coke that I ordered and when she finally returned to the table it was to give us our food. I would have loved my drink way before this.
