The birria caldo was absolutely amazing - rich, flavorful, and perfectly seasoned with a homemade taste that you just can't fake. You can tell it's made with love and tradition. The meat was tender, juicy, and soaked up all that deep, savory broth in the best way possible. On top of that, the customer service was super friendly and welcoming, which made the whole experience even better. It really felt like one of those hidden gems where the food AND the people both stand out. If you're anywhere near Burien and craving birria. don't think twice. The chips were fried fresh and were so hot, I had to wait to eat it. They were crunchy and perfectly fried. The bean dip was delicious and smooth sprinkled with cotija cheese. I was pleased that the consome was not as fatty/oily as I've had at other places, yet still very flavorful and comforting. The meal came with rice, beans, grilled onion and jalapeño. I also received 1 green and 1 red salsa, and a bag of diced fresh onion, cilantro, and limes. The quesadilla was huge and truly stuffed with cheese and meat, and so delicious! The only downside was I found a small metal shard in my beans - like a shaving from a can. This tells me that the beans come from a can and are not freshly made, and they're not careful with food prep. I'm so thankful that I didn't get cut by it or swallow it. Top tier birria tacos! This place is pretty large with lots of porky decorations and fun party Mexican music. We ordered 2 soft tacos, 2 cheese tacos, and a side of consome. There's a little bar at the side of the restaurant where you can self serve all the dressings that you may want. The cheese tacos were amazing 10/10. Super stuffed with cheese and birria, then dipped in their super flavor consome is fireeee. I do wish their consome had a liiiiittle bit of spice but it was still so good. The consome is also pretty loaded with meat, so it's very worth it. Service was pretty standard, you order at the counter and they bring the food to you. I remember seeing a Birrieria Tijuana van drive by on my way to Burien and knew that I had to go (plus Yelpers were raving about this place on social media). I was first introduced to birria by my coworkers who described it as the tasty, cheap meat that Latinos used to eat during recessions. Traditionally birria was made from goat or deer, but several American Birrierias also serve beef birria (like this place). I tried birria from the Mexican chain, El Riconsito, before, but it was extremely fatty and honestly a huge disappointment. I was hoping that by going to an actual birriera, the birria would be more authentic- and boy, was this place twenty times better than El Riconsito. My boyfriend and I came here on a weekend evening at around 8pm for a late dinner. Birrieria Tijuana is built into a neighborhood Mexican market, but the restaurant is accessible through a side door as well. The restaurant has a fair amount of seating with several booths and tables. It definitely has a fast food feel with the white tile floors and very casual atmosphere. This place serves birria in all forms including on top of fries, inside a quesadilla, in a burrito, in a torta, on its own, in consume (dipping soup) and even in an instant ramen cup. Instagram videos also show birria "pizza" for $22 which is HUGE and definitely an interesting fusion dish. After perusing the menu, my boyfriend and I both got Plato Birrias which came with meat, rice, taco shells, white retried beans, a jalapeño, sautéed onions, salsa verde, salsa rojo, red onions, cabbage, and lime (approx $16 per plate). The birria platos were gigantic and the portions were extremely generous- they gave us like a pound of meat which neither of us could finish in one sitting. The meat was tender and tasty- it reminded me of pot roast or beef brisket with a slightly tangy, savory, and spicy sauce. The frijoles (beans) were superior to your typical canned refried beans. I'be never had white refried beans before, but they were very good! The onions were sweet and perfectly complemented the meat. They also gave us at least four corn taco shells each which we topped with the meat, cabbage, onion, and salsa. Speaking of salsa, the verde was good, but the red salsa was the real winner- spicy, slightly smoky, and just a little tangy. I only wish that they gave us slightly more salsa, but we probably could've asked. Service was good and we got our food within 20 minutes. The floors and tables were super clean, but passable. Overall - I want to enjoy the food at this restaurant. However, they continue to fall short in many ways. Particular the quality of the food. The tortillas that are non-street style are dry and stiff. Making it challenging to enjoy when ordering a plate of food. The other issue is the portion sizes. I ordered a carnitas plate which included sub par rice and beans and dry carnitas. Their aguas frescas are probably the best option in the menu and overall priced around the same in the Seattle area. The street style tacos are unfortunately not great. Particularly their tripas tacos. It seemed like the meat was old since it was extremely dry and chewy. The restaurant also has a poor/lower food quality rating from King County which aligns with overall appearance of the kitchen and up keep of the condiment area. Recently - I ordered a queso birria de queso order. Only to find that the order was truly only a quesadilla, which is misleading. Especially since it's next to the order of the "actual" queso birria with rice and beans plate. The customer service recovery was unfortunately disappointing. I'm hoping to try this restaurant at some point in the future. But unfortunately will not be going anytime soon, and will enjoy other community Mexican restaurants in the Burien and white center area. read more

i really enjoyed my experience here. the restaurant has a ton of seating and i love how eclectic their decor is! we came at 5pm and there was no wait and plenty of seating. the food came pretty quickly too. i got 2 cheese tacos and i really enjoyed them. they came with no vegetables but they have a sauce/vegetable bar which was super nice because i love putting a lot of vegetables in my food. i also love that they had radishes too. the tacos had a ton of cheese and the meat was delicious. we added consume which was $4 extra dollars. the consume was not as flavorful as other ones i've had. it didn't come with as much meat as i wanted it to, and there was no onion or cilantro in it either which would be my biggest complaint. read more

I've been wanting to try this place because it's on the way home from multiple locations. We did takeout. For some reason, this place has two names and can be found under either. After ordering, we followed the prompts telling us the food was ready. The food was not ready until about 25 minutes after the app sent messages saying it was. Here comes my main criticism, because overall the food here was fine. I walked in to retrieve our food and the dining area smelled like it hadn't been cleaned in months. I had to leave and wait outside. No restaurant should smell like this and it's a big red flag for me, especially in the COVUD era. We had multiple dishes, they were all acceptable. However there was a mass of brown garbage that smelled like rotting lettuce on one of the dishes we ordered. It was apparently supposed to be guacamole. It was brown, slimy, had no indication of actual avocado and was overall completely disgusting. There are several solid components on the plates, but then bad or spoiled ingredients were used as a topping and it made the food smell....off, lesser, I want to be kind and honest. There are a lot of Mexican options in the area. This one is middle of the pack in terms of food quality. The environment was not one I would choose to eat inside of because of the overall smell of layered filth. It's going to take a combination of factors before we do this again. I came here a year ago and recently visited again. I am happy to report that most menu items have NOT gone up in price (a miracle given inflation). The food was also as delicious as the first time I got it and the portions did not go down. They pack their food with a ton of meat and cheese. The first time I went I got a burrito and a cheese taco and more recently, my friend and I split the birria pizza. Out of those three items I've had, I would say they're basically the same thing in different forms, though that does not make it any less good. The birria pizza was $22 and could easily feed 3-4 people. Given the amount of meat and cheese, it was very filling and I found myself full after 1.5 slices. Also it had a great cheese pull! (See pic for evidence). I will say, it was quite greasy. As I was eating I thought to myself that if I was a big exercise/health person, I would definitely categorize this as a "cheat meal". It was quite a heavy meal, and made me feel like I was getting old because I definitely would've been able to eat more of this a few years back but now it will be more of a treat. Oh HELL yeah. I've been wanting to stop by Birrieria Tijuana for a long time but never found myself in the area. After dropping off a friend at the airport, I decided it was time! I'm from Southern California so I am always looking for legitimate and authentic Mexican food and this place is it. LOCATION & PARKING // This is in Burien and in a huge strip mall right next to a store. There is an abundance of parking here so that will never be an issue. The store itself is of a decent size and has multiple tables inside and outside as well. All the tables inside are spread apart. FOOD // Between two of us, we ordered 4 CHEESE TACOS (2 each), 1 CONSOME, 1 ASADA FRIES, 2 AGUA FRESCAS (horchata & melon/cantaloupe). I did my Yelp research beforehand and knew that this would be too much food but I did it anyway because I'm never in the area and happy to have leftovers. From what I've read, 1-2 cheese tacos with consome is plenty and that's true. I just couldn't say no to the asada fries - could you?! CHEESE TACOS: Filled with cheese and birria in a crispy double shell. They were hefty bites and tasted amazing with the consome! I was worried they wouldn't be flavorful on their own but I was wrong. CONSOME: I had never tried consome before and heard that it was similar to Vietnamese pho broth. I can definitely see why people think that but consome is a bit saltier. You really only need one between 2-3 people though. ASADA FRIES: Amazing! I'm used to asada fries like this where the asada is cut up into super small pieces. The container was filled to the top of these delicious fries and we had the leftovers for dinner the next day. Still perfect. If you like asada fries, these will not disappoint. AGUA FRESCA: I only had a sip of the horchata but it was creamy and flavorful. My standout was the melon/cantaloupe though. It was sweet, refreshing, and truly memorable. I'm so happy that I got that one instead of a flavor you see regularly. SERVICE // I read that this spot can get busy, which is understandable. I stopped by on a Friday around 4:30pm and there was no one in line. There was a few tables occupied but that was it. Ordering was no big deal and the food came out within 10-15 minutes. I ate at the restaurant itself and cleaned up afterwards. By 5:00pm, it was quite busy and the line was forming so I'm lucky to have missed the busy time. My mulitas came with salsa, grilled onions and a jalapeno (very spicy)--everything is packed in to-go containers, even if you eat in. Anyway, two was overkill for me; I was already stuffed after eating one because they're truly packed with juicy birria and a ton of cheese. Delicious but super heavy! And their mulitas were larger than ones I've had in the past. All in all, a pretty great deal. This spot takes up one corner of Guadalupe Market but you can't access the market from the Birreria.
