First time ever going here for Easter Bruch the food was cold, they didn't put new food out, serving utensils were not kept clean, they ran out of plates, ran out of coffee cups then had no coffee. We made a reservation paid in advance and it felt like they were just trying to clean up they didn't care. We should have had discount for the late reservation nothing left for the same price. So let's start out by saying I'm not a golfer. I haven't gone there to golf. If I want to walk around on a beautiful day, I don't want it interrupted by a little white ball. You know the Scots invented golf. They even play in the winter. They play with red balls. Well that's because of the kilts. Anyway I used the takeout at the club. Actually on Thanksgiving day. Long story short; got a colonoscopy canceled and didn't plan on a dinner. So it's a dinner for 4 ( if your not big eaters if you are it's dinner for two). Ever day is one delicious dinner (no choice just whatever the dinner of the day is) like a full lasagna dinner or a full chicken dinner, or full pot roast dinner; the price is @$40. . I had the Pot Roast mashed potatoes green beans and rolls. It was so tender and delicious. I've been meaning to go back try the lasagna dinner (a big tray of lasagna). This food is all gourmet quality. Not fancy gourmet but oh so good. I most definitely recommend this. The golf course you're going to have to figure out yourself. While I might be retired ( which I think is a requirement to be a golfer,or divorced which I think comes from being a golfer) My hobbies are a tad more to the exciting ones. Like being shot out a cannon and fire eating, and noodling shark fishing. Nothing too out of the ordinary. read more

It is a very beautiful course overall with great views. But...the bunkers are horrible, pretty much the worst I have ever had the not so good pleasure of meeting! They are just mud pits, and when there was a dry one, it was just loaded and I mean loaded with rocks, not playable at all. Got a decent deal at $48 w/cart, so for that it was worth it. I would come back, just pray to stay out of bunkers!! read more

First off, staff was pleasant. However niceness does not address poorly maintained traps and greens that appear to have been hit with hailstones. $99.00 is ridiculous for greens in this condition and have not completely recovered from aeration. read more

By far one of the best public access golf course layouts in the area. Course conditions are first rate and worth the green fee if you appreciate playing finer courses. During a recent visit, I experienced breakdowns in service. When I brought this to the attention management, the GM Lawrence interceded and resolved my issues beyond my expectations. I realize even the best businesses have occasional service lapses. However, what's more important to me is how those lapses are handled when escalated to management. Because of the way Lawrence addressed my concerns, he's changed my attitude from someone who may/ may not patronize Architects again to an advocate who will regularly make the hour drive to play this great track. read more

Wow. Is it me or does this course attract the grumpiest Yelp users I've EVER seen? Ive never seen such bitter hostile people -- well only ones who have a tremendous sense of entitlement that I pray I don't get paired with those folks. PI've played the course twice in the past month. Paid an amazing $20 and $45. One round was sub 3 hours and the other on the Friday after Thanksgiving clocked in at 4 hours. The course conditions were excellent. The greens were much slower than the practice greens, but we did our best to adjust. Staff was friendly. Paid $9 for a beer and a hot dog so if anyone says that's too expensive, they need to pack a lunch because I've seen $6 hot dogs more often than I'd like to admit. They even had a woman with a good and beverage cart out for a relatively quiet day on the course. I have no idea where others are playing, but we drove an hour to play and would do it again and will do it again. People need to relax, lighten up, and enjoy the game. read more

I visited the Architect's Golf Club for my girlfriend's coworker's daughter's (yes one of those association things) sweet sixteen party. I want to be clear that this is not a rating of the birthday party, it's simply my review of the party hall. By the way the party was great. Aesthetically, this place is great by first appearances. It's well furnished with some great woodwork all painted white. The lighting is also richly designed with two crystal chandeliers in the center and several English pendant fixtures on either side. They also have a nice bar that is nicely stocked. When you look at the details though, this place is not well managed for a hall where you may book a wedding. The floors have scratches from moving tables that look like they have been there a while. The men's bathroom has plastic ivy and ball room has plastic trees that serves better at collecting dust than as ornaments. I touched the plastic and my figure was gray from the weeks or months of dirt on them. The sergeant major from Full Metal Jacket would go ape sh## here. I admit I have not seen it, but I would question the kitchen cleanliness after the plants. Suggestion here, especially if you're charging ridiculous prices for weddings like other places: invest in some real plants. The food was mediocre. It was buffet, and they had salad, bread, vegetables melody , chicken francese, and beef tips. The salad and bread were the best thing on the menu. The francese was overdone with the consistency of a kevlar vest, and was in a Marsala gravy. I despise francese in anything other than a lemon white wine sauce. For a sweet 16 party, this place is acceptable, but there is likely a place just as expensive that is better kept and with better food in the immediate area. read more

Spectacular layout and in great condition from tee to green. I found the course design to be challenging but not unfair; rewarding good shots but penalizing shots landing in the heavy rough. Some of the views on wedge shots around the greens heavily guarded with bunkers and water are just outstanding. $55 for a round on Tuesday, including range balls, was a great value. Unfortunately though, we had some issues with some of the staff working at the course. One staff member was in a group behind us and didn't allow us to clear the green before hitting, coming close to our cart on one hole without yelling fore. More disturbing was the fact that I left my rangefinder in our cart after leaving the course and never saw it again, regardless of the fact that they have staff dedicated to managing and cleaning the carts before and after play. read more

Time for an up to date review. Staff is great, no question ! Owners, how do rationalize charging the rates you do for greens that have just been punched and bunkers that are horrendous, but thankfully are finally being attended to. This is definitely are favorite course, but to charge the rates you are at present, not to mention going through the roof on the weekends, is not being fair in my opinion and does not bode well for future players to come back. I want to see a great course like this hang around, especially when the staff is so great to deal with. Fingers crossed ! read more

I played here last Sunday 9/16/2012. I have SUCH mixed emotions about this place. It's a veritable cornucopia of contradictions. This place has the makings of a 5 star golf course. The layout is fantastic. I LOVE the concept of designing holes in the style of the great architects. It's a much better idea than trying to copy the great holes around the World like Renditions in MD (I'll review that course after I play it again - it's been a while). This course is really, really fun. All the par 5s are easily reachable - even from the tips for a player of average length like myself. Maybe the 13th is a stretch - but I wouldn't know because I found out the hard way that a tee ball down the left middle of the fairway can roll 35 yards left into the pond. :o/ Starting with that 13th, the holes get rather long and fairly tough to finish even though the overall course isn't very long by today's standards. It's a very strong finish. I love the par-3 17th. This course is so suited for walking that it's probably EASIER to walk than to ride. It sure as heck is on that infamous 13th hole. The course obviously backs up there because those riding in carts (who I shan't call golfers because if you're in a cart you - by definition - aren't playing golf) have to (GASP!) walk out to their layup shots 50 yards away then walk (REALLY?!) 50 yards back to their carts to drive around to the green. But I digress. Admittedly, it's also a rather hard hole. So why did they charge me for a cart when I was walking? If they had a walking rate, I might have been tempted to give this course 5 stars. But at least they didn't try to make me fatten up in a golf cart and had no problem with me walking - like some inane courses do. Still, I expect a discount for not using their gas or electricity nor damaging the course by driving a 1000 lb. vehicle all over it. For $99, the course could have been in better condition. The fairways were OK (ignoring that they'd just airated the 16th fairway - it is September after all) and the greens were VERY FAST. Loved it. But those greens were also REALLY soft and hence lumpy and bumpy due to humans (a small percentage of which were actual golfers - see above). But I don't play here all the time so I don't know what the normal conditions are. I put together a pretty good score - but again the fun factor was diminished by how slowly the course played. It took just a little over 5 hours on an NFL Sunday afternoon. I checked just before I headed out there because I was trying to get out early - and as most courses do on NFL Sundays they had open tee times. I had to wait for my actual tee time because I was a single, out-of-towner and all the tee times were filled with foursomes or zero-somes. But somehow it took forever to play even as those open slots went unfilled. I noticed how the golf course ahead of us seemed wide open as we played 10, 11, and 12. Then I saw that one group 4 ahead of us had lost about 3 holes. There was a marshal on the course - so why didn't he fix this? Poor course management. I left the course late for dinner and ready to knock my rating down to 3 stars. But trying to separate venting from being informative I decided to chalk it up to a bad day. My playing partners were regulars (who didn't mind the high greens fees because they only paid $50 for the Senior rate) and they said the course didn't usually have pace of play problems. So I took their word for it. I also figured that it could be extra busy since other (much more reasonably-priced) courses in the area either had tournaments that afternoon or had JUST airated the greens - which is why I went with Architects myself. So if you aren't scared off by the price - go and enjoy! And for crying out loud, walk the course. Even if you play poorly you'll burn some calories. ;0) read more

Good venue for a birthday, anniversary or engagement party. The bar area is large and staff is friendly. I believe there are two event rooms and the upstairs ballroom holds at least 115 people comfortably with room for DJ and gift table as well as buffet station. Food was good for buffet. Not too salty. I played the course yesterday (July 5th) with members. I don't know if I have EVER played a course with bunkers in such deplorable conditions. You certainly can't call them sand traps, because they were devoid of any sand. Maybe dirt/rock traps would better describe them. To pay almost $100 to play those conditions is ridiculous. There are way too many golf courses around the area that are in much better shape at half the price. I asked the members how they could put up with "their" course in such shape. They said they've brought it to management's attention, and they "hope" things will get fixed, but they've been waiting for some time now and nothing has been done. I guess they're getting enough play at the course that it's not a concern. read more

Yeah buddy! This place is awesome. it's a bit pricey at $95 for a round and cart on a Saturday, but you can't take it with you, right? This place was a great place to play while the Players Tournament was on. It has TPC like conditions that are absolutely awesome, especially if you have been hacking it up at the muni courses. The fairways are pristine. It is definitely one of the best kept public courses in NJ. The holes are all constructed after the great architects of golf. There is a lot of sand. Somehow, I hit out of it amazingly. The traps are all we kept. The greens are very fast, but also true. The place is clean, and the staff is very friendly. I'd recommend this to everyone who loves great golf. read more

I played this course for the first time with my usual playing partners on Sunday afternoon for our monthly outing. We were expecting great experience for what we heard and for the fee they charge. Each hole was interesting and well "architected" as the name shows. However we were sad to find that the course was not so well maintained and many low parts were pretty damp (not irrigated well?). There was only 1 (or 2 maybe) water tanks. There was no course map/picture on score card or even none at any of tee grounds. There were some blind holes and that didn't help. (Maybe they were selling the book of each holes at the pro shop.). Pro shop staff was not so friendly either. I think this will be my last time to play here. read more

Be careful with this golf club! Read the policy before booking! I was sick the day we were supposed to play. I called and told them 3 would be there but I was sick and could not make it. They still charged us for a foursome and told us it was policy for 24 hour notice. They gave a voucher for future play instead of refund. Policy...policy..... no refunds In my opinion, based on the abundance of courses and places to play, the staff was obnoxiously rude, inconsiderate and I would rather spend my money elsewhere at a course who cares about their patrons. Voucher or not, you would not see me return based on how you are treated! Not a very friendly atmosphere and you can choose other places to enjoy a round of golf. read more

New Years Eve was such a disappointment. Looked promising from website. Food was mediocre at best to be honest. The best part was the dessert. Bus boy was very quick to clean plates off table even when you were even not finished with the food on your plate!! Had to ask for a new fork 2x because it was inadvertently taken each time. I have been here several times always thinking that maybe I just hit it on a bad night. Unfortunately, I am always disappointed. This course and restaurant is in my neighborhood so, I really wanted this place to a place that I would become a regular. So much so, that I considered becoming a member. Needless to say, that never happen. Let me explain some of my observations, last night a group of friends went there for ladies martini night. Service is way to slow. There was one waitress and one bartender. I guess they just don't anticipate getting and customers. A half hour is way too long to wait for a drink. Supposedly some martinis are half price. The bill came and only one drink on the entire bill was marked so. They did rectify that problem. The men's bathroom looked as though it was not clean for a few days. Grass all over the floor, paper towels on the floor. Another item was they had the large flat screen on, but the Barclays was not on nor was the news. They had the Simpsons on with Homer smelling some other guys butt! It just does not give a country club impression. I can only blame the management for the way it is run. Another night, I went for BBQ night and was almost poisoned when I was served completely raw chicken. There is no excuse for this. My party wanted to have a private talk with the manager, but that person was nowhere to be found. This is really unfortunate because this could really be a great place. I wish that the manager would just take a trip over to Blue in Bethlehem Twps to see what a great place that is. The course is very nice, but expensive even though they have recently dropped the rate a bit. If they want to keep a certain clientele there then they should keep the clubhouse to reflect the correct image that coincides with the greens fees. read more

Nice layout and could be challenging but the greens were "hairy" and looked like some greens were diseased. The tee boxes were spongy. Much too expensive for what is offered. No more complimentary golf balls to hit before t-off and the refreshments and food are way to expensive. Also there are no special rates for seniors. I and other people have called several times to use and pay for their practice area only to be told we couldn't hit off the grass. How bad is that, just laziness. I can say without senior rates they lost approximately 12 rounds from me and my friends. The staff seems to know nothing about customer service. read more

Played on 8/6/2017. The course was a mess. I'll give a pass to mother nature having rained a lot in the last couple weeks, however EVERY bunker was flooded. Some of this is course design. It's built on hills so drainage could have been done better. Call the course and ask if the bunkers are wet if you even consider going here. The above is not why I give it one star. I arrived at 7:40 in the morning and went to use the locker room. No one bothered to turn on any of the lights in the stairwell or the locker room. Thought maybe I would grab something for breakfast. Restaurant doesn't open to 10a but I can buy a Snickers. Got my shoes on and went to the range. No yardage markers, pins or anything to aim at. This is like spend $20 on ebay stuff that is missing. My tee time was $108. I have to pay for a bucket of balls. Really? Finally start playing. Whomever mows the course could care less about whether the blades are going to hit the fairway. There were so many spots that were machine destroyed it was sad. If the reason is that it was wet, thats not a reason. Don't mow so low then or use smaller machines that won't drag up the fairways. Yardage markers on the course are few and far between. Yeah I have a GPS watch, but sometimes it doesn't work accurately and searching 100 yards for a sprinkler head gets old. Thankfully it wasn't hot out because there was no water on the course. I had to pay to buy water from the cart girl. I don't know if that is the business plan or just a huge fail. Despite having a bag drop attendant no one even asked or offered to clean my clubs or assist me in getting them to my car. Overall it feels like Architects wants to be a legit daily fee higher end course but financially they aren't getting the draw so they bail out to fill tee times. The end result is you may be subsidizing someone elses discount round while receiving mediocre muni service despite the $100 price point. If you are making a drive from any legit distance pick a different course. read more

Venue is really pretty! I was here for a wedding in October. The outdoor patio is gorgeous with a spectacular view! As with most venues, cocktail hour is the best. The food was on point during that part of the night. The staff was accommodating. What more can you ask for? read more

I have played this course often and for the most part love it. However I played this last Friday (8/12/16) and the course was in horrendous condition. Sand traps were like ready-mix lucky I only found 1 but my playing partner found a few a saw sparks coming from his wedge when he hit out of them. Greens were torn up and bumpy. Very disappointing overall for the amount they like to charge to play a round there. I guess that's why the parking lot was empty. read more

Nice track. Love the design of each hole after famous architects. Reminded me a little bit of playing World Tour in Myrtle Beach in that aspect. Course was in great shape when I played early July. Greens rolled pretty true, although slightly slower than I expected/prefer. Rough wasn't too penalizing and course plays relatively open. Good variety from hole to hole giving you some different looks. Tough three-hole stretch of par 4's on 14, 15 and 16 playing very long from the gold or black tees. Love No. 13 and the walking bridges over the creek into the green -- definitely reminds you a little of Augusta. Played early on a weekday and had no problems with pace of play, finishing in just under 4 hours and also took advantage of the replay rate. Worth making the trip from NYC. read more

I have played here twice this fall, having never played it ever in years prior. Pros: -Interesting variety of holes. If you know anything about a particular architect's style, you can see a bit of it in the hole design. -They will allow you to walk, though they don't really make mention of it, and the rate is the same as riding. -Although they do not have a lot of deciduous trees, they did an excellent job of leaf removal this fall. I literally think I only saw two leaves on the ground the entire round. -Food in the restaurant was good both times and the booze is very reasonably priced. The restaurant has an attractive design and I could see myself visiting here often just to eat if I lived closer. -Pace on a weekend morning was "ok" but not great. -Course generally in good condition, though see below. Cons: -The conditions of the bunkers are terrible. Like hitting off concrete. -Weekend rates are steep, but from looking at the cars in the parking lot, I think they attract a lot of NYC area people who have few golf options. -Nobody was operating the grill after the 9th hole both times I played, but maybe they only use it in the summer. read more

Such an ABSOLUTE DISAPPOINTMENT to us for the Engagement Party held there for my daughter and future son-in-law. The beautiful view was not enough to make up for miniscule amount of food provided, the mostly unprofessional service, and the response from Management to our very civil critiques of the handling of the event. We do not feel that we received what we had been promised, as the event fell drastically short of our reasonable expectations, and certainly nowhere near the value of the just over $6,000 paid for the 59 guests (plus a few children) that attended the event, and the few who did not end up attending. Our experience follows: There were just not enough hors d'oeuvres being served. The servers were very polite, but they were high school girls and part-timers, and not professional servers. It was apparent to us that they did not know how to make sure to get around to all guests. There were so few hors d'oeuvres being passed out that people were actually splitting them in half so they could each have some. For the cost per person, they should not have to split them just to get some. The dinner did not make up for it. Although the food was very tasty, there was just not enough even for a normal appetite, and people received the wrong dinners and had to switch around to get the correct ones. The dinner consisted of a very small salad on a plate (not even in a bowl), ONE roll per person (and not everyone received even that one roll), and in our opinion, sincerely, a child-sized entree. One guest even commented "skimpy, isn't it." Even the cake slices were child size, and if any cake was left I certainly did not receive the remainder. Additionally, there were golfers walking through our event several times during the evening. A private party is supposed to be just that, private. The Event Manager's response was that "Our restaurant is open 7 days a week for our members and golfers. When we have a private event in the main room, the patio is still open to the public for our restaurant customers. " Apparently that means anyone can walk through your event at any time. This "7 days a week for our members and golfers" policy and the lack of communication about what was considered ours for the event also caused an issue with use of the patio and outside. We were advised we had access to the patio and outside as part of our event, but were not informed that is was still a public use area. What restaurant guest wants to listen to, or be around, a noisy group of people at a party when they are having a quiet dinner or celebration? Finally, we were told that because during dinner serving drinks was slow (only one bartender all evening and the service was slow all evening) that the open bar would be extended to 8:30, however the bar tenders clock was fast and they turned people away from the open bar at 8:20. My youngest daughter and I work very hard and spent a lot of money for the party that we tried to make very special and we do not feel at all that we received what was promised, and that we feel we certainly did not receive our money's worth. And Management/Corporate's response?..."They are offering a gift card of $100 that I can either mail to you or you can pick up at the clubhouse." ... We told them to keep their card. read more

We played Architect's golf course over the weekend. The course is a 6863-yard par 71 course that honors golf greats at each hole, including such names as A.W. Tillinghast, Donald Ross and Alister MacKenzie. The course has received recognition from such prestigious publications as (Golf Course News, Golf Magazine, Links Magazine, Golf Digest and Sports Illustrated.) The course itself is very well maintained, fairways are very nice and greens are fast. They have a nice driving range and provide complimentary bucket of balls with every greens fee. Weekend rate is $110 which I think is high, however the weekly rate AM ($75) is fair. Look out for deals on this course, ideal to play off season or during weekday since you can play it for $50-75. Course staff was courteous, and the restaurant food is nice as well. Overall a great course if you can get a round for $75, $110 is steep. read more

Course is in good condition but way too easy. This course is way too easy I played from the tips and easily shot 67, although I am a +3 handicap it should play harder from all the way back. Layout is pretty enjoyable just not enough trouble on the course. Greens rolled so so I was overall happy but they could easily toughen the course which would make it so much better. read more

This could be a nice place,but... Good course layout, fun course to play, with reachable par 5s and challenging par 3s. After playing many times I have found this to be the average experience: bumpy, soft greens that get watered too much so the grass roots don't go deep enough and ball marks can't be properly fixed leaving dead grass a week later. Green speed is usually on the quicker side all things considered. Greens fee is outrageous, $100 on a weekend morning when you can play in PA for $50. Place is always understaffed. In general the outside workers and pro shop clerks who are making minimum wage are somewhat friendly. Everyone else there from the head pro, gm, and dining room manager seemed to always be know it alls. I once told the general manager a comment about the pace of play and I could see it on his face that he was already coming up with his response before I even finished my sentence. When I come to play golf I come to have fun and enjoy myself and that's what I pay you for. I will not be coming back here anytime soon. A playing partner once described the managing staff here as the "fun police". Well said..well said. read more
