I highly enjoyed this course. For context... I'm a 10 handicap golfer. I played the tips because I am a longer hitter. And this isn't really a longer course... It did rained most of the day before and this course was playing with carts 90° rule... So the drainage seems to be pretty nice. There were definitely some puddle spots, but in some places that didn't really matter. I personally thought the course was brilliant. It has a very wonky beginning and ending... It ends with and begins with two par fives... Honestly, that might be the biggest problem with the course. Otherwise, I found the condition of the course to be excellent. The greens were fantastic! If I wanted to be very picky, I would say that the design was not mind blowing... But it was perfectly fine. There were some holes that were better than others. Some holes were more narrow and some were wide open. There's a drivable part four. There were no Rangers that the day I was there. I played on Tuesday in August. We had a threesome and we were behind a few foursomes, and we definitely had to wait on a few holes. However we were ahead of schedule... We were finished in four hours and 10 minutes. There is no driving range. It took me forever to research that and I was a little annoyed when I realized there was no driving range... There is a chipping and putting green. None of the holes were "unfair" from my perspective... Some of them were a little tricky, but nothing ridiculous. Most of the greens are huge. Because it had rained the day before they were very receptive. I used the GPS on my phone, but I noticed near the end that the 150 marker in the fairway might technically be to the front of the green and not to the center of the green... Just FYI there. I did not use the grill/restaurant. I was a little disappointed. They did not sell cigars in the pro shop... The staff wasn't overly friendly, but they were in no way mean or offputting. It was hilarious how old school some of the things were... Like having to "sign for your cart key"... Haven't done that in a long time! I legitimately cannot understand why this is not a more popular course in the area. GolfNow had tons of open teetimes for today. This is a wonderful course with elevation and it's very well maintained... People should definitely play it if they haven't. Oh final thing... One of the other reasons I chose this course off of GolfNow was because I was finding that many of the local courses were listing their prices but they were for walking and not with cart. Meaning it was gonna cost another 20 or even $30 if I wanted to use a cart. This course the price that was listed included the cart which made it worth driving a little bit further in my opinion. Honestly, as far as public courses go... This is a great one. Play it. read more

Played Beaver Brook for the second time recently and we again had a good time. The layout has a few holes with blind doglegs and it's hilly, but it's very affordable and the starter and pro-shop guys were nice for a very cold Friday morning. There were a couple of holes where there was a bit of damage on the fairways, and the flags were in the back in every hole, but otherwise the course was in decent shape for November. Not sure of the prices were low because of the time of year, but I'd come back and play here again. read more

I knew Beaver Brook was the place I was going to get married from the very first day I met Deb at a Bridal Expo in Secaucus, NJ. I remember leaving the table after talking to Deb and I turned to my mom and said "that's the place! I have a good feeling about her". And we were right! Deb was exceptional from the very beginning of planning all the way to the end. She was there for us every step of the way and was an amazing help and support when we needed her. The venue was everything we dreamed of! Absolutely stunning! Surrounded by greenery, overlooking the mountains, what more could you ask for it was the perfect setting! The food was fantastic! I hosted my son's birthday party here and I was overall pleased with the experience. The food was really good, the views are nice, the majority of waitstaff was excellent (minus the "head" of the waitstaff? I'm not even sure what her title was to be honest). The club itself has just changed ownership from a national chain to local people. They seem to be doing a much better job of maintaining the club as a whole. My husband has golfed here on occasion and would recommend the course - especially the twilight specials they run in the summer. read more

Who said a wedding could not be put together in a matter of 3 weeks during a national pandemic? When our son and daughter-in-law's wedding got canceled, we went into panic mode. We went to Beaver Brook to see what they could do for us. As soon as we sat down with Deb, our anxiety went away. She assured us that they could give our son and his wife an amazing wedding and Deb did not disappoint! The whole staff went above and beyond to make their wedding day a true fairytale. Ryan made sure the tents were absolutely beautiful and Deb made sure the food, the venue, and the service was above our expectations! wow, I truly cannot even believe that this is the first comment here for beaver brook!! I am absolutely AMAZED at how well our event was last night. Short story: go here, I highly recommend them. Want the long version? Read on.. My sister and I planned a pretty huge event for my in-laws at another venue scheduled for this very day. After a ton of obstacles and hurdles we had to get around, we finally worked out all the details and were ready to have our event there. The hurricane took out the whole east coast and we were sort of panicked when the venue told us we couldn't have our event there [4 days before the date]. So we called probably 10 other places in the area that either were booked or didn't have power ect. Beaver brook was the last one called and my sister literally was floored by the service she received by Carrie that day on the phone. Carries customer service was outstanding. She helped us throw together a "renewal of vows" party here for around 50 people in a matter of 4 days. I don't even know where to begin, and I can't say it enough, I have NEVER had customer service as good as we did this night. Carrie was popping in and out all night making sure things were okay and if there was something she could do for us. Even to the little details. They set up and broke down the room, we didn't have to worry about any of that [which we were going to have to do at the other location]. We had both the ceremony and the reception in the same room and they made it flow perfectly and it was a transition that had so much ease. We had the venue to ourselves that night, and they allowed us to have a "cocktail hour" in the bar while the chairs were being rearranged for us. The food was great, a wonderful variety of salads, penne with vodka, penne with tom sauce, chickens, beef, bread and they provided dessert which we weren't expecting either!!!!! The property is gorgeous, overlooking the golf course. The venue even had a beautiful deck as well. It was too cold last night to be out there - but great for the smokers! Our guests were amazed by how we pulled this thing together in such a short time, but I have to give a lot of credit to the venue. They did a spectacular job. Beaver brook is a fine example of how a business should be run. I would give them 6 stars if I could, because they're so deserving. What a beautiful golf course set in the hills of Annandale. Getting to the club was easy and there is plenty of parking. Once checked in and on the course I could see why everyone raves about it. Almost every hole has a beautiful view at some point. Rolling hills as far as you can see. The front and back nine are meticulously cared for. The greens where all pristine. As far as bang for the buck this was worth it. The only downfall was the club house. The bar was lame as was the locker room. If I lived in this area this would not be my club because of this. If they update the clubhouse it would be amazing. read more

I played this course from the gold tees in June and liked the layout. As others have noted, the course is book-ended by 2 par 5s on the front 9 and back 9 (holes 1 and 2, then 17 and 18). I didn't find that setup overbearing though, as the par 5s aren't extremely long. In terms of course condition, I found it to be very good from tee to green. It was raining while we were playing and the course soaked it up well. Greens rolled nicely. As far as the staff is concerned, I found the starter to be helpful, but cranky. The rangers were abrupt and a bit condescending. I would rate this course a 4 if they handled pace of play more professionally. At the end of the day, decent value for the money (around $60 on Saturday for 18 holes and a dingy cart). read more

Beaver Brook is a fantastic course to play in the fall with the foliage. You're surrounded by trees almost the entire round with the exception of the first few and the last few holes. It's a very fair course that isnt overly punishing, but will still certainly test your skills. It's a 1 hour to 1 hour 20 minute drive from Manhattan. I love how the 17th and 18th holes are both par 5's, because it really gives you the option to absolutely go for it at the end of the round. Plus, if you're playing competitively with a buddy, you have a shot to pull off a birdie. Other quirks include the 9th hole, which is a short par 4 from an elevated tee box. If the tee is moved all the way up for your round, it only plays about 270 yards due to the higher elevation, and you have a shot to drive the green. Of course, anything right is OB and left is no good either, so it's a fun risk reward shot. If you're playing near dusk you're likely to encounter deer, as many live on this course's property (I've seen herds of 8 to 15 on many occasions). Not a big deal for "country folk" like me as seeing deer is almost a daily occurrence, but I know my "city folk" friends I've brought here always seem to act all amazed and crazy when they see bambi so I thought I'd point that out. One thing to know, however, is this course has NO driving range. It used to have a beautiful double-ended range, but the property was sold off for town houses during the real estate boom. read more

We couldn't have been happier with our wedding at Beaver Brook. Deb was great and really made the process easy and as stress-free as possible. Venetia and her staff were also fantastic. Greens, fairways and tee boxes were in excellent condition. "Sand" Traps - more like rocks and dirt. Fortunately only found myself their two times, but not worth ruining a club to hit out of. The course was in fair condition however it was very enjoyable to play as the layout of the holes was rather interesting. The elevation changes made the course difficult but fair. However the sand traps were atrocious, basically dirt and rocks. It was also an excellent bargain as a midweek senior rate was only $25 including cart. I recently threw a surprise 60th birthday party for my Mom here at Beaver Brook. I have nothing but amazing things to say about this venue. I worked with Natalie I. who was phenomenal throughout the entire planning process. Very communicative. We had a brunch buffet and the food was out of this world. People had nothing but great things to say about it. The staff/service was also outstanding. Friendly and attentive. The atmosphere at Beaver Brook is also spectacular. The surrounding views of the hills and golf course are so beautiful. The building itself was in excellent condition as well. I just can't say enough about my experience here. Hills, hills and more hills. otherwise OK condition. Tee boxes could use some grass. Pin placements were outrageous - like 3 feet from edge of green, or on a crazy upslope at back of green making any putt from side or behind impossible. Even putts from under hole rolled BACKWARDS! Who do they think is playing here? It rained the night before and the traps had puddles. I didn't think our cart would make it up some hills. and you had to coax it along to get it moving - they need to be replaced. My husband and I just had our wedding reception at Beaver Brook on 4/25/15 and it was literally FLAWLESS. Rebecca and Carrie were with us every step of the way and always responded to all of my emails and questions right away. They were both so helpful and willing to work with us. On the day of the wedding, the venue was set up EXACTLY as we had requested and it looked amazing. We got so many compliments on the food, the great service and the beauty of the venue. I would absolutely recommend Beaver Brook to anyone looking for a wedding reception venue. We had about 150 guests and it was the perfect size for the ballroom. This was a nice golf course long ago. Course a mess. No grass on tee boxes. Patches everywhere. Greens are inconsistant. One is patchy. Next had half inch grass. Pace wayyy too slow. No rangers. Obvious they are not spending money on this course. Wont be back til conditions are better. read more

First the course was in great condition so don't worry about that. Greens were perfect and soft, tee boxes were in good shape. I gave it 3 stars because my round which was a 2 some took 5 and a half hours on a Wednesday. There were rangers driving around not doing a thing just watching. It could have easily been a 4 hour round but no one was playing ready golf and waited for the furthest player to hit then mark their ball and read the putt. Simply the worst golf experience of all time. Every fairway was BURNT out. Every tee box was uneven with no more than 6-10 blades of grass....TOTAL No one has ever fixed a ball mark on any of the greens. BeaverBrook is not a friendly place. One of the things one should look forward to at a golf course is that the experience should feel as if though one is on vacation (staff should all say "Hello" or politely respond when one says "Good Morning", etc). Just about every person encountered throughout the day did not seem happy to be there, period. Additionally, even though my group of golfers was running through at a polite pace of play (meaning that I have been to several other golf courses, private clubs and public courses, and played at the same pace as I did at BeaverBrook) at least 3 times the BeaverBrook range personnel told us to speed up because "there were 100 people behind us" or that our pace was too slow. Our pace of play may not have been the fastest but at no point did a group behind us have to ask to play through because at no point did we have a group get any closer than 2 holes behind our group. We golfed within 1 hole of the group in front of us all day. My group was 50% people who have golfed for many years and 50% people who are just learning the game. The half of my group with golfing experience was very aware of making sure the 50% learning the game were learning all of the etiquette regarding keeping a good pace (not chasing after lost balls, taking only an appropriate number of shots to each hole, etc), we were basically playing by "ready golf" etiquette rules. When we brought this part of the BeaverBrook experience to the attention of the pro shop (the range personnel being pushy to the point of just being plain harassing) the pro shop person did not care to receive the feedback or even try to figure out if it may have simply been that the range personnel had our group mixed up with a slower group. It was the same "staff person is not happy to be there" attitude we had experienced throughout the day. If you are considering taking a new golfer out to experience how much fun it can be to play the game, I would recommend you try another place since the BeaverBrook experience left much to be desired. read more

Extremely slow round (quit after 15 holes...and 5 hours...on a weekday afternoon). Lots of rocks in sand traps. No driving range to warm up. Inedible hot dog. The course has a couple of (#2, #9, #15), interesting holes but lots of blind shots due to hills. You can certainly do better at Architects, Heron Glen, Shawnee, etc. read more

this course starts with two 5s and ends with two 5s. all 4 are mediocre at best. the layout is a little on the bizarre side. plenty of blind approach shots which is always unappealing for even the most skilled of golfers. the condition the course was in was not the best as we had gotten two days of straight rain earlier in the week but no excuse for the bunkers which were complete mud. the greens varied severely in speed which can make for a nightmare round. be fast be slow or be in the middle. just all be the same. i wouldnt recommend this course on the one time ive played it. id like to give it another chance, but to be honest after dealing with the rude woman in the proshop and the screwy layout i will never be back. read more

While the course was generally in good shape, if I'm paying $80 for a round of golf, I expect sand in the sand traps (not dirt and weeds). There were no rakes at any of the traps because there's nothing to rake! Also, greens have been recently aerated. I wouldn't expect to pay full rates until they've recovered fully. read more

We had a Memorial lunch at Beaver Brook that was exceptional in every way. Deb Colantano arranged the event, not knowing exactly how many people would attend was a concern to me, she handled that aspect perfectly as others wanted me to commit to a certain number of people. As for the food, Chef Randy Knocked it out of the Park. From the Prime Rib, to Stuffed Sole, Chicken Francese and the decadent desserts. This food was enjoyed by all. What can I possibly say! We're from Boston. Our son was getting married in the area. We needed a venue for 100 people for a pre-nuptial dinner the night before the wedding. The brides aunt found Beaver Brook Country Club. We wanted something casual yet classy. Beaver Brook offered a barbeque menu that was perfect. We worked with Carrie through the entire process. We did everything over the phone and via email. We did have the opportunity to visit in person in February. We were hooked as soon as we started talking to Carrie, but in person we fell in love!! The ground was covered with snow and we thought we knew what it would look like at the end of June. Boy were we wrong. It was 10 times better than we could have expected. The views SPECTACULAR!!! Now that we've talked about the view, lets talk about the service and the food. FOOD??? Absolutely the best of the best. They cooked to order. Burgers, hot dogs, ribs, chicken, salads. How could they pull off a barbeque for 100 you ask?? I don't know how they did it but it was phenomenal. The service?? Wait staff was so great. Took care of every need we had. And Carrie?? What can I say about a person who didn't know us, didn't meet us in person until 5 months after the contract was signed, was working over the phone and email and bent over backwards to make sure everything was done to perfection. read more

We just held our daughter's Sweet 16 party at Beaver Brook Country Club, and it was absolutely fantastic! (We had our oldest daughter's Sweet 16 here 3 years ago, and it, too was wonderful. I think that BBCC has even improved with age ;) Overlooking a beautifully manicured golf course, BBCC feels private, insulated, and well-cared for. We had 100 people, and everything was perfect. Natalie and Carrie helped us plan exactly what our daughter dreamed of, and even had the perfect color linens in their own stock. The food was perfect -- a variety of appetizers, salad, a wok station with veggies, chicken or beef, vodka penne, and a beautiful fruit kabob stand! The cake that was included with the package was top notch, created by Palermo's, and delivered to BBCC the day of the party -- tasty, and stunning to boot! The sundae bar was a huge hit with the teenagers, and was set up beautifully in the adjacent room. The DJ we used was Cedric Hickerson of APlus DJ's and he provided a photo booth in his package, which both the kids and adults enjoyed tremendously. I cannot say enough about the exemplary service that was provided by Natalie, Carrie, Ant (our Captain) and Debi, as well as the other four servers. All were exceptionally easy to work with, and they worked very, very, hard to be certain that the party was a 100% success, which it was. BBCC provides a great value for an event such as this -- great food, service, and beautiful venue. This is a wonderful wedding venue! We booked at BB because we knew the place was lovely (my sister married there years ago) and we wanted something that would minimize all the planning for us - we weren't into finding 15 vendors to handle each aspect. Carrie and Rebecca were fantastic. First off, they're both really responsive (which is so, so nice when you're trying organize a big event) and very friendly. We only had vague ideas of what we wanted, so they threw ideas out for us, like doing soft pretzels as a departure station, and they were really flexible. Both women are so warm and friendly and they really worked hard to make our day stress-free. Debi and Toni (banquet and bridal attendant) were just as professional and lovely as Carrie and Rebecca. Everyone there just makes planning a wedding so easy. The food was incredible - we had a lot of people say it was the best wedding meal they'd ever had. Everything went so smoothly, the venue is really beautiful, and everyone who worked there was friendly. I can't say enough good things about BB and its staff.
