A collection of beautifully styled items for the home. Clearly they have an eye for beauty and affect!

In the past, the unique selections and easy atmosphere kept me coming back, but recently I have seen the business has been cut in half (the shop is 1/2 the size!) and is now much, MUCH smaller, tighter and cramped. The selection is now standard affair that one would find at any boho gift shop, especially along the Hudson. Some candles, some notecards, some souvenirs in cup or card form, some small pillows ... maybe some boho/artsy/indie jewelry. Meh cards along the wall. I get why they had to slim down and cut back ($$), but all the "trading" aspects of the shop are now gone. Maybe 10% still exists in the form of honey and an artisan candle here and there, or some jewelry, but the furniture, incenses, most artisan soaps and kitchen goods (except some souvenir cups) are all gone. There used to be a giant selection of jewelry, dream catchers, wind chimes - all echoed through the store and welcomed you in. It's now gone. Still, a great little place to stop in but it's now a lite, fat free version of what we had before. Prices are mid range and parking can be very tricky on busy weekends when tourists are all around, especially in the afternoon. Again, it's worth checking out, but don't expect any unique goods or anything that's too artisan or a really fun, fun find. Good for candles, matches, pillows, socks, some clothes in the back.

This used to be a higher end, upscale mall. It's now a bit run down, but not terrible. It still has…read morelots of big box stores, but also small boutiques and pop ups. For example, there is an entire storefront devoted to claw machines. There is another store called "mystery bins" that has a random assortment of items that kind of look like they fell off a truck. There is a rope obstacle course for kids on the upper floors of the mall. Cool concept, but a little off putting that things could fall from above on to shoppers on the lower levels. Overall, it's a decent mall, but it has lost some of its luster over the years.

THE NOT SO GOOD ----------------------------- - The mall is definitely showing its age with cracks on the floor, ripped up leather on the cushioned benches and dated infrastructure. - Food court consists mostly of fast food vendors you can find outside (e.g., Wendys, Taco Bell, Burger King, Nathan's). MIXED THOUGHTS ---------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Was as busy as any mall on a Saturday afternoon, but, aesthetically it's no competition with the shinier Westfield Garden State Plaza Mall and American Dream Mall.

Since hubs' long-time friend and his wife didn't include details of a Wedding registry in their…read moreinvitation, we knew off the bat that we didn't want to go to the reception empty-handed with just the money envelope. A mundane vase was out of the question. So were thoughtless gift cards to those home stores such as BB&B. Instead, we decided to: (1) go off the grid, (2) be more creative and (3) choose a gift that's personal- but represents something for the new married couple and their home. Calling first before coming here was a breeze especially when Dean asked if I was looking for a Spiritual or 'Happy' Buddha then reassured me they have a varied selection. Taking a last-minute trip here, was a must the day before our friends' Saturday wedding. Located at the Palisades Mall (by Macy's) in Nyack, Glowing Candle greets you with different Buddhas, Crystals, Quartz, Fairy statues, etc. They were known primarily for their candles, but somehow shifted to offering Spiritual items for the mind, body and Soul. With so many different Buddhas that have a different message depending on the posture and mudras (hand gestures), we had a specific type in mind. We chose the Dhyana mudra with both of Buddha's palms almost overlapping and resting upward on the lap made out of volcanic ash. Service from Dean was incredible and took the time to clarify a few things about his products. Plus, he boxed our gift and filled in the gaps with tissue paper. I may not be so keen on gallivanting at the Palisades Mall- but coming to this shop, getting what I want and heading back out, wouldn't be a problem.

Me being new to the world of crystals and precious stones I was amazed with the vast amount of pieces to choose from. Along side of the many options, the knowledge and information that the entire staff was able to share and help educate me was far beyond what I expected to walk out of the store with, I believe the associates names were Tara and Dean but they literally walked me through any and every questions I had and I really felt they just took their time to each understand me and that was actually really refreshing and unexpected service and an over all topping to a unique experience in a unique store. i say all of that to say all of this. I couldn't express greater appreciation for my unexpected visit to Glowing Candle and look forward to my next and future visits to come!
