Her room was kept clean, the nurses took their time, were personable, capable and caring. The food was better than expected and the therapists worked her effectively on structured schedules that prepared her for success at home. She's now been home a week and is following the care plan provided and improving daily. Frankly, after reading some of the reviews we were afraid of what the experience here might be like, but it completely exceeded our expectations. We do not recognize the facility or experience described in some of the reviews. Thank you to the entire staff for making the transition from ICU to home well-organized, impactful, and free from unnecessary stress or drama.

Great PT staff, the food was decent, and really liked Dr Prasad who really spent time with my dad and was very thorough with a good bedside manner! The only negative was that they NEVER answered their phones!!! We always had to leave a message on a voicemail to get a call back HOURS later!! I finally asked for the number of the nurses station DIRECTLY on his floor to get updates on my dad when I couldn't be there..... Otherwise, I would highly recommend them!

Being in the mental health field, I automatically see what staff is working for a paycheck or if they actually care about mental health and their clients. The Briarr house employees truly care and are passionate about their work. They are extremely underpaid, unappreciated and deserve so much praise for the proficient level of care! The house manager Jules, is an angel. She truly fights for each clients rights and wants the best for them. The clinicians Kate and Isabelle are AMAZING! Kate was my therapist and she is so intelligent and empathetic that fueled my healing process. The whole house staff was amazing as well.. no words to describe the superior level of care I received. Along with the connections, education and support I received I have never felt so much kindness in my life by everyone during my month stay. It was bitter sweet out processing but thankful for this investment to my trauma healing journey.

Rachel connected with mom (she's 79) immediately. She took charge right away and took excellent care of my mom while keeping her laughing too. We don't know where we would be without her. She saved my family from many stressful and emotional days. My mom says Rachel's is her angel, we agree. We don't wanna ever let her go.

Review for Veronica,…read more It is a joy to have you in my home and taking care of me. You truly have a heart like Jesus, as He said, 'I have come to be a servant of all and show you the Father's love through my actions.' Your daily actions, such as always entering my home with a sweet greeting and a smile. No matter what may have occurred on your drive to work you never let it change your kindness and compassion towards me. Your daily respect for my autonomy and personal choices have been a great relief and blessing to me. Last year, 2025, was enormously difficult for me physically, emotionally and mentally. I was badly injured by a caregiver who really didn't want to be with me. She wanted to run my life instead of letting me make my own decisions. Everything was a struggle. I am still dealing with the pain and suffering from her carelessness almost a year later. You, however, are the complete opposite of that caregiver. You show genuine care, compassion and empathy to me. At the same time you keep a close watch on me for my episodes, for any unusual reactions, for changes in my body or mind that may indicate something physically is about to happen or something that is happening without my knowledge. Your daily care of me is exceptional. Everything from reading my body signs or noticing that I am in the middle of a call, task or just not ready. Yet, you come back or tell me it's getting late for something we have scheduled. This may be as simple as my breakfast or as important as helping me to get ready for my doctor appointments, my bloodwork or therapy. You encourage me to try many things that can help my health, mood or my outlook for the day. Such as, helping me relearn my Spanish while I help you with English, or walking around the house with my gait belt and walker. You keep me on top of my goals. These can be as basic as making my bed every time I get up (in the morning and after my nap). In fact, this helped me create and continue this habit. Another goal of mine is building my strength and stamina enough to walk around outside my home. This has not happened yet, as I have been primarily bed bound since February 19, 2025. You encourage my stretching in bed to keep my body as limber as possible. This helps reduce injury in case of a fall. My personal Internist, Dr. Fondren of Newport Beach certainly appreciates your encouragement and reminders to help me to regain the strength I have lost since February 2025. (when a different caregiver injured me). Once I have regained a little more endurance, then I can start physical therapy. Finally, my family has been at peace with you being my main caregiver and I love how well you and Gabbi work together caring for me. Just knowing how dependable you both are, how you communicate with each other changes, concerns and even my meal planning and cooking. My sister and my son (they both call me almost every day) are amazed that I finally have a team like you and Gabbi. Thank you Veronica for everything and I look forward to 2026 being a great year with continued great care!

Newport, overall, was generally a negative experience for my child. There are some good aspects to it in the house in Camarillo, like the family therapist, John. He was a great professional and seemed to be very good at being calm, caring, and insightful. He was even good at dealing with our teen girl during her manic moods and ups and downs. Pretty much everyone outside of him has been a disaster. My child's personal therapist, allegedly called my child 'psychotic' and 'narcissitic' to her face in the middle of a therapy session. Her therapist also spoke to us, the parents on the call and let us know that our child is not "hopeless, yet". Not hopeless? Really? Wow, what encouragement. Her psychiatrist, after having talked to my child for 2 minutes already diagnosed her as crazy and proceeded to record their conversations (and ours) without any consent. She then went on a long tangent about how she loves dogs and can't imagine that our child may be endangering the dog we own. Newport's motto is "unconditional" love. They claim they will love your child until they can love themselves...however, they held my child for 50 days offering minimal psychiatric support then kicked her out after giving us 2 days notice because she was not 'participating' in group activities and allegedly became romantic with another patient (not true). They didn't even let her know she was leaving on the day of (which they promised they would do) so my child was terrified and shocked when we showed up. My child is autistic, and was diagnosed with bipolar. Is she easy to deal with? No. Is she rude and disrespectful at times? Yes. But isn't that what Newport claims that they can deal with? Bipolar, borderline, and other teens who've experienced trauama -- that's what they claim to treat. Well, it seems to be that they only treat those teens if they are easy to deal with. And if you've ever met troubled teens that are "easy" to deal with, why would we need a residential facility to begin with?
