Her room was kept clean, the nurses took their time, were personable, capable and caring. The food was better than expected and the therapists worked her effectively on structured schedules that prepared her for success at home. She's now been home a week and is following the care plan provided and improving daily. Frankly, after reading some of the reviews we were afraid of what the experience here might be like, but it completely exceeded our expectations. We do not recognize the facility or experience described in some of the reviews. Thank you to the entire staff for making the transition from ICU to home well-organized, impactful, and free from unnecessary stress or drama.

Great PT staff, the food was decent, and really liked Dr Prasad who really spent time with my dad and was very thorough with a good bedside manner! The only negative was that they NEVER answered their phones!!! We always had to leave a message on a voicemail to get a call back HOURS later!! I finally asked for the number of the nurses station DIRECTLY on his floor to get updates on my dad when I couldn't be there..... Otherwise, I would highly recommend them!

This facility actually cares about their clients!…read more I'm filled with gratitude to this facility. I was in true despair and was ready to throw it all away, everything I had worked so hard for, all of it, it was horrible. By chance we found this facility and it was exactly what I needed. I was ready and willing to do whatever it took to get myself back in order and La Ventana gave me the tools that are necessary to make that happen. The staff treated me like family and everyone on board is passionate about what they do. I was given the structure and encouragement I needed, they were patient with me and let me be myself. They absolutely went above and beyond for me and my family and I will be forever grateful to them. I'm so glad we found this facility and my new extended family. Thank you EVERYONE at La Ventana, we got this!!!

Review for Veronica,…read more It is a joy to have you in my home and taking care of me. You truly have a heart like Jesus, as He said, 'I have come to be a servant of all and show you the Father's love through my actions.' Your daily actions, such as always entering my home with a sweet greeting and a smile. No matter what may have occurred on your drive to work you never let it change your kindness and compassion towards me. Your daily respect for my autonomy and personal choices have been a great relief and blessing to me. Last year, 2025, was enormously difficult for me physically, emotionally and mentally. I was badly injured by a caregiver who really didn't want to be with me. She wanted to run my life instead of letting me make my own decisions. Everything was a struggle. I am still dealing with the pain and suffering from her carelessness almost a year later. You, however, are the complete opposite of that caregiver. You show genuine care, compassion and empathy to me. At the same time you keep a close watch on me for my episodes, for any unusual reactions, for changes in my body or mind that may indicate something physically is about to happen or something that is happening without my knowledge. Your daily care of me is exceptional. Everything from reading my body signs or noticing that I am in the middle of a call, task or just not ready. Yet, you come back or tell me it's getting late for something we have scheduled. This may be as simple as my breakfast or as important as helping me to get ready for my doctor appointments, my bloodwork or therapy. You encourage me to try many things that can help my health, mood or my outlook for the day. Such as, helping me relearn my Spanish while I help you with English, or walking around the house with my gait belt and walker. You keep me on top of my goals. These can be as basic as making my bed every time I get up (in the morning and after my nap). In fact, this helped me create and continue this habit. Another goal of mine is building my strength and stamina enough to walk around outside my home. This has not happened yet, as I have been primarily bed bound since February 19, 2025. You encourage my stretching in bed to keep my body as limber as possible. This helps reduce injury in case of a fall. My personal Internist, Dr. Fondren of Newport Beach certainly appreciates your encouragement and reminders to help me to regain the strength I have lost since February 2025. (when a different caregiver injured me). Once I have regained a little more endurance, then I can start physical therapy. Finally, my family has been at peace with you being my main caregiver and I love how well you and Gabbi work together caring for me. Just knowing how dependable you both are, how you communicate with each other changes, concerns and even my meal planning and cooking. My sister and my son (they both call me almost every day) are amazed that I finally have a team like you and Gabbi. Thank you Veronica for everything and I look forward to 2026 being a great year with continued great care!

My daughter would not be attending her current adult day program at Momentum in Thousand Oaks,…read moreCalifornia without the one-to-one which Bright Star has provided. From my first phone call to Bright Star to the aide they provided, I am 100% satisfied. I spoke with Bonnie when I first called and just like the aide provided, they both have a heart for individuals with significant special needs and for the parents of these individuals. When I first called, I felt the love. I was heard, understood, and matched with the perfect aide for my daughter. I was exhausted from dealing with the school district during IEP meetings, speech therapist who didn't care and the list goes on. It was actually healing to speak with Bonnie during my first call to Bright Star. That's only the beginning. They sent me a wonderful aide to work with my severely delayed nonverbal adult daughter who was lashing out and hitting and scratching the other one-to-one at the adult program. She was miserable there and nonverbal cognitively three and had no way to tell me, but I figured everything out from other parents who experiencing issues with their nonverbal adult children at Momentum. Our one to one has a heart for working with my daughter. My daughter was refusing to enter the front door at Momentum and that all changed. When I drop off my daughter, she runs to see her aide and they mutually love each other other. My daughter is no longer aggressive or in tears. The truth is, if I lose this aide for whatever reason, my daughter would just be home on her iPad all day in her room. Because this aide is basically running a mini program inside the building at Momentum is the only reason she still goes there. Unfortunately the staff at Momentum is not trained or well paid and the turnover rate is high, so my daughter has a problem with changing faces and transitions. With Bright Star my daughter now has a one-to-one aide and it's the same face every day and this face loves her and we love our one-to-one. Bright Star provided a one-to-one who is a blessing to our adult daughter and has given us a piece of mind that is God given. Thank you, Bright Star. Thank you to our one-to-one. It gives me hope that there are good people in this world.

Newport, overall, was generally a negative experience for my child. There are some good aspects to it in the house in Camarillo, like the family therapist, John. He was a great professional and seemed to be very good at being calm, caring, and insightful. He was even good at dealing with our teen girl during her manic moods and ups and downs. Pretty much everyone outside of him has been a disaster. My child's personal therapist, allegedly called my child 'psychotic' and 'narcissitic' to her face in the middle of a therapy session. Her therapist also spoke to us, the parents on the call and let us know that our child is not "hopeless, yet". Not hopeless? Really? Wow, what encouragement. Her psychiatrist, after having talked to my child for 2 minutes already diagnosed her as crazy and proceeded to record their conversations (and ours) without any consent. She then went on a long tangent about how she loves dogs and can't imagine that our child may be endangering the dog we own. Newport's motto is "unconditional" love. They claim they will love your child until they can love themselves...however, they held my child for 50 days offering minimal psychiatric support then kicked her out after giving us 2 days notice because she was not 'participating' in group activities and allegedly became romantic with another patient (not true). They didn't even let her know she was leaving on the day of (which they promised they would do) so my child was terrified and shocked when we showed up. My child is autistic, and was diagnosed with bipolar. Is she easy to deal with? No. Is she rude and disrespectful at times? Yes. But isn't that what Newport claims that they can deal with? Bipolar, borderline, and other teens who've experienced trauama -- that's what they claim to treat. Well, it seems to be that they only treat those teens if they are easy to deal with. And if you've ever met troubled teens that are "easy" to deal with, why would we need a residential facility to begin with?
