Going to Rise was the best decision of my life. Allison was a godsend to me at a dark point in my life and was able to get me into Rise's treatment program with short notice. The team there is unparalleled. I wish I could name everyone that were members of my treatment team at Rise, but a few shoutouts to Nam for driving my sad sack self to Rise, baking amazing bread, and being an amazing support from Day 1, Shari & Zach from nursing for the care, fun, pep talks, and compassion, Dr Mark for his wisdom and pragmatic approach that I really resonated with, and numerous others (the chefs are next-level good, Tessa, Luke, Saber, Destiny, Cesar, Cat, Michael, Terry, Adrian, etc). Outside of the fantastic staff, I'll add that the house is gorgeous, the groups are varied and enriching, there's a good balance between free time & groups, the rooms are comfortable and spacious, and they do a great job of ensuring that you have access to outside appointments - for example, I was able to go to Passover services while at Rise without having to go through a lot of hoops/bureaucracy. My son recently attended the alcohol 30 day treatment program at Rise in Malibu and loved it. The staff was kind, caring and really understands alcoholism, since several are previous patients. His first care team member was the admissions coordinator who was knowledgeable about every aspect of the program such as insurance, applying for short term disability or unemployment, laws and care standards within the industry, or anything else you might need to know about applying here or sending your loved one. The next team member he encountered was the driver who picked him up at the airport. My son was not feeling well, and having a driver that understood what the new patients are going through was fabulous. What a great idea to have the driver relate to disease also. Once at the house, the entire care team was so nice to him. He really needed kindness and no judgement to help him succeed. The psychiatrist, counselors, faith counselor, nurse, cook and housekeepers were all so professional and really got to know all the patients. I visited my son and saw all this wonderful care, first hand. Since discharge, my son and I both have called for advice inclusive of long phone calls to help with "bumps in the road". Terrible experience, though accommodations are nice and food is ok. I have several health issues (not all of them are alcohol related) and had to go to the Hospital for quite a few days.   I had stabilized my condition, and on the morning I was to be discharged with the Hospital Dr's approval, I was told I'd be going back to Rise.  However, mere minutes before being discharged, Rise reversed their decision and said I was too "complicated" for their care. Rise made this assessment by looking at a few test results and without even examining me in person.  In fact, I had never met or even talked to Dr Raskin before he made that decision. At this point, Rise went radio silent. No referrals or anything.  They dropped my bags off at my hospital. I tried reaching out but to no avail. So now it's the afternoon, and I have nowhere to go (a hotel would be a horrible decision).  I'm scrambling to find an alternate rehab, begging the hospital to let me stay another night. Once Rise realized they weren't going to get more money from me, they kicked me to the curb without even a "good luck."   Is this the kind of place you want to go and people you want to treat you? read more

I am a client of Rise in Malibu. (Meaning I completed their residential program.) The type of care is professional, personalized, and extremely well designed. Rise takes a holistic approach towards recovery. And besides fancy titles their staff bestows; their is a true, authentic, human being looking after your best interests whom has a heart beat. The entire staff is there because they want to be there. I felt their compassion. I felt they understood my needs. They made me feel worthy as a person despite my bankrupted heart and soul which was stripped from me by my D.O.C. My mind was teetering on insanity/ wet brain with hosts of trauma both physical and psychological. Their dual diagnosis program was another example for me choosing Rise in Malibu. Their grief and loss program helped me significantly. Rise developed a Nicotine Addiction Treatment Plan for me. Which I follow to this day. Their music program is led by a true music professional. Every service I was sent to such as the Malibu Urgent Care for bloodwork, and X- Rays, to the dental group in Pacific Palisades down the road for all of my immediate dental needs, to the Orthopedic Surgeon Specialist where I received am MRI immediately and was consulted with, to their 4 " Celebrity Chef's whom designed custom nutritional cuisine for my dietary restrictions, to their well planned outings such as Beachwalk which included wet suits, surfboards, coolers with specialty H2O and healthy refreshments, the 2 gentlemen who are themselves surfers, as well as therapists/ counselors, to a Sound Vath Shaman, and the list continues. If you are asking why I have described Tise in this much authenticity and passion; it's because Rise in Malibu saved my life in more ways then one. In closing, I have chosen to continue my aftercare program with their PHP program which I am currently in, then to their IOP program, then to their OP program. The sober house where I currently live at, my "Home", is amazing. What originally drew me to Rise was the luxury setting, the ocean view, and the holistic approach. I was seeking a place to be sober for 30 days, get some massages, some exercise, and delicious food - a grown up summer camp. I figured I just needed to get myself in a healthy routine. What I learned and received at Rise was more than I could have ever dreamed or imagined asking for. I received acceptance, love, kindness and compassion from every single staff member. Every. Single. One. I was welcomed with open arms into the safest space I've ever been in. Canaan helped me rediscover my physical strength and push through my mental walls. James and Brianna literally reprogrammed my body and brain with life-changing EMDR. Ako showed me that I can create beauty even when I am wholly filled with doubt. John and Tim taught me how to forgive myself and gave me space to reconnect to The One, The Goddess, The Universe. RISE saved my life. I had hit my bottom a few months ago and was barely hanging on to my life. I was desperate for help but just didn't even know where to start. I luckily had some amazing friends do A LOT of research and came up with their #1 find, RISE Malibu. If you're reading this- then you, or a person you care about, is in need of help. I can't stress enough how hard it is to make that first step and just how proud you should be for taking it. Choosing a place to uproot your life and put your well-being into someone else's hands is a HUGE deal. Thank goodness you have clicked on this incredible place. You are in the hands of caring professionals that will make your well-being their top priority. One of the most important things to me was a dual-treatment program. I have suffered from anxiety, depression and Bipolar Disorder. These conditions along with years of alcohol and drug abuse ALL needed to be addressed and treated. I was carefully detoxed by their medical team and received constant care for the appropriate medications. I had a team of therapists to help me learn about my mental illnesses and how to cope with them. You will have your own case manager to give you 1-on-1 coaching and counseling. We also have group sessions throughout the day to learn about substance abuse, mental illnesses, coping techniques, life coaching, etc. These were extremely helpful. The fellowship is what truly connects us as humans and I learned SO MUCH from my housemates. We also had holistic and healing sessions- Along with really fun activities on the weekend (beach, movies, etc.). The property itself is just beyond gorgeous. The photos on the website don't do it justice. Our meals were prepared with care and the home is warm and comfortable to live in. I can't rave enough about the quality of the staff. I landed at Rise in Malibu after alarming and disappointing intake experiences at two other treatment facilities in California. If you're reading these reviews, it's possible that you're experiencing uncertainty and skepticism about the claimed quality of the many "luxury" treatment facilities in the Malibu and Southern CA region. I certainly found myself frantically trying to sort through the bullshit, while also balancing financial considerations and treatment needs. My alcoholism is driven by traumatic experiences, both current and prior. Therefore, I was in need of a recovery center that could address both my substance dependency AND the underlying drivers of my unhealthy behavior. Rise in Malibu far exceeded my expectations of what a dual-diagnosis facility could offer. I think that they're arguably the exemplar program for dual-diagnosis treatment, offering 1:1 psychotherapy treatments 4x a week in addition to group sessions and holistic treatments. I greatly benefited from EMDR sessions with April and will continue to pursue this therapeutic approach at home. April is a brilliant practitioner that guided me through major breakthroughs in PTSD therapy within a short amount of time. Dr. Mark is a kind, responsive, and talented clinical director. The staff and case managers at Rise allowed me to feel safe, cared for, challenged, and loved. This place became my home, an important haven for me during a deeply painful period in my life. I feel forever indebted to Ron for taking an hour to chat with me over a weekend when I was frantically calling treatment centers, and for getting me to Rise when I landed at a place in Malibu that was an awful fit. Rise in Malibu is by far a leading industry treatment center in both the level of treatment provided as well as the most caring staff around! I've been to many other treatment facilities across the country and they don't even compare. The small client to staff ratio at Rise offers an array of individual therapy sessions and very small groups led by extremely knowledgeable and qualified therapists. Every staff member I interacted with at Rise, from the first admissions call to being dropped off at the airport, truly cared about me. I was afraid when researching and talking with admissions that this place was "too good to be true". Thankfully Rise provided everything they said they would and my experience exceeded any expectations I had. I called with an inquiry regarding if my insurance was accepted here, and while the service rep Berkeley told me they didn't accept my insurance, he committed to looking for facilities that did. I did further research on my own, and about 30 minutes later he called me back with options I could pursue who would accepted my insurance. If you're searching and researching treatment centers and you've come across Rise you are beyond lucky. Please don't go anywhere else. Go or send your loved one to Rise. PLEASE read about our experience here. We took the long road of trying to save our daughter and came very close to losing her. We would have if we didn't find Rise. I am a mom in her 50's. My once young, smart and beautiful daughter had become addicted to opiates. I had been working with therapists to prepare myself for her death. She had destroyed everything in her life and was in what I call a death spiral. We had tried other treatment centers with high hopes, some legitimate, some not, some high profile such as Betty Ford and another featured on Dr. Phil. None worked. My daughter found Rise in one of her rare lucent moments searching for a premium treatment center that had the most one-on-one appointments each week with a therapist. One thing we had learned was that she could not overcome a deep rooted addiction with one 45 minute appointment per week. She found Rise. 3 one-on-one appointments with a Doctor level therapist per week. In addition to private meetings with Addiction Therapists, a Case Manager and others. This is when our lives changed. First difference, I was speaking directly to the 2 owners and the amazing John the Admittance Counselor. Even when she wasn't ready to go, Ron the owner would text and call me, checking on me and asking about my daughter. Finally an opportunity opened where we knew where she was, I called Ron and in a combination of an intervention and a CIA/Mission Impossible mission they orchestrated, Pat the owner picked her up. They were going into a dangerous situation. They volunteered. As evidence of Pat's character he said he couldn't send his staff into such a dangerous situation, he would go. So he immediately jumped in his car, drove over an hour and spent several hours dealing with a situation that involved police, criminals... and was able to drive her to Rise. Now let me explain she didn't want to go. Pat even gave the cash out of his pocket to the derelict she was with to send him away so he could save my daughter. Driving to the treatment center my daughter continued to try to jump out of the car. All the while Pat was patient, kind and promising she would get the help she do desperately needs. Now weeks into treatment there she tells me "mom I've never seen a place like this. I've never met people like this. They all care. The Dr. is like none of the others. Even the other guests are different. They're more committed to their recovery and have taken me under their wings". Now she is sober and alive. She's still at the treatment center and I hear from the owners and staff checking on things and keeping me in the loop. Really looking out for her. Even John the Admittance Counselor (who's focus could have moved on) calls- even on weekends & evenings!- and jumps in to help make sure she stays on track and is making the right decisions to stays on track. I hear from him several times a week. The most caring group of people I've ever come across. What is their secret sauce? How are they able to have so many top level, caring professionals in one place? I don't know. But it is magic. Everyone raves about the night and day transformation with my daughter. So if you're looking for professionals to take the reigns of this devastation you're dealing with. Who care more than your own family members. Who will do more to save your loved one than ANYONE you've ever met. A treatment center you can trust, exhale and let them do their "magic", call Ron. I thank God for the day I met him. I look back at my experience at Rise in February 2019 and have come to realize that it truly changed and saved my life. I have six months in sobriety currently with a bright outlook and I am grateful to Rise and the Staff. Rise Staff treats its clients with dignity and compassion, and to be honest, are fun to be around. The daily activates are rigorously designed to address the root cause of clients' addiction and to develop a plan for long term sobriety after leaving Rise, which from a personal perspective has been a difference maker. The daily meals, location and accommodations are the best, and for those interested in physical exercise, Rise has a gym membership to a local club which I found to be a key piece of my recovery. For those who choose to participate in AA, NA or spiritual therapy, Rise is very accommodative but does not push any sort of agenda. Coming to rise was a life changing experience. This was my first time at an inpatient program and it couldn't have gone better. Dr. Mark, the staff onsite (Sherri, Kimmy, Kendall, tatchi (David/Dave), Jeff, Billy, Shane, and Andrea), and even the chef (Alma) created an incredibly comforting environment and you can tell they personally care about your recovery. I've been to a few different rehabs I was skeptical at first because most Rehabs just want your money most of the time once they get you in the door then you come to realize what they told you or advertised is completely different but that wasn't the case for Rise everything was 100% what they said it would be on the phone/advertised the food and staff were great the treatment was more then what I expected I'm very satisfied it was the best move I've made I flew out from New York they picked me up not many places offer your own room and you can have your phone to stay in contact with your family I highly recommend this Rehab to anyone I didn't think I'd be able to quit using but long behold I've been sober I've learned so much about myself and new ways to deal with addiction while being at Rise read more

It's now almost three months since I left Rise and I'm 115 days sober after drinking all of my adult life. To say that I couldn't have got this far without the help I received at Rise would be a huge understatement. After looking at other facilities, my wife and I met with John, did a tour of Rise and knew, within ten minutes, that this was a special place where I could begin my road to recovery. From the excellent one to one therapy to the revelatory group sessions; from the amazingly empathetic and supportive tech staff who always went beyond the call of duty to the delicious food; from the welcoming and very comfortable bedrooms to the off-site trips every aspect of my time at Rise was nothing but excellent. I have been to other high end treatment centers and they simply do not compare to Rise in Malibu. While the grounds, house, rooms, food and amenities are fantastic, this is not a "spa". The program is very rigorous and individual therapy sessions and groups are intensive. I was exhausted at week's end - in a good way. Others claim to get at the root causes of your addiction, but Rise actually "walks the walk". Through my work/time with the professionals at Rise, I feel as though I have finally broken through and truly understand the root causes of my addiction. I had the pleasure of staying at Rise for over 8 months. Because of this privilege I've had the greatest support system since leaving inpatient. The case manager I was assigned was incredibly helpful, and with her encouragement I enrolled back in school and will be finishing up at UCLA shortly. I found loving friendships here. I had a life changing experience at Rise. The therapists and staff are intelligent and full of love. Individual care is a must as everyone has there own story and Rise had a lot of one on one therapy and always had someone available to talk 24hrs a day if needed. After falling multiple times from prior treatment experiences, Rise was here to help pick me back up. From the initial phone call with the admissions department up until the time I walked through the front door, someone from Rise was there holding my hand the entire way. Once admitted I went through the detox process, which staff was very attentive to ensure my safety and comfort. I realized after detox how broken and beat up I really was, alcohol had taken me to a level of self-hate I had not experienced before, and felt like I was already dead. I didn't love myself, wasn't caring for myself, and wasn't even able to get myself to eat but through the course of my 30 days what I found is that when I wasn't able to love myself, the staff at Rise was here to love me and teach me how to love myself. I learned how to self-nurture and attend to self-care with a well balanced diet, exercise routine, mindfulness skills. The facility has excellent staff to client ratio, with many one on one sessions as well as a cohesive intimate peer group. The setting and environment allowed for me to feel safe enough to make myself vulnerable and begin to heal. It is hard for me to put into words my experience at Rise, but I don't think I would have been able to heal anywhere else but here. I am leaving Rise filled with faith, hope and love, with a solid aftercare plan and variety of tools that will help foster my goal of long-term recovery. read more
