Acriform gets a star bump for having great designs and doing quality work. The problem is that their awards and success has gone to their heads. First time we had them bid work for us, they basically said they were only interested if we would do a whole house remodel with them, and turned their nose up at our piece meal (i.e., on a budget) remodeling. Bought a new home that needs tons of work. This time they said they charged $150 to come out for an hour for an INITIAL consultation. I mean, really? No other companies, not even the high end ones charge for an initial consultation. Not sure what is going on with Arciform, but they appear to only want to service those that have deep, deep pockets, and can fork over tens of thousands of dollars. Too many other options for that. read more

I hate to not write great reviews but in this case I feel should write poor review. I contracted with Arciform to install two custom made doors that I had made for my house. The cost of the install in the quote was actually as much as the coast to create custom doors. But I was assured by the door manufacturer that Arciform could not only handle the high end work I had in mind, but was also very professional (I used Versatile Wood Products to make my doors). First I want to say that Brian at Arciform who was responsible for doing the install was great, he was courteous and worked hard to make sure the job got done. On the other hand Devin who was responsible for managing our project was difficult to get in touch with and gave me constantly shifting schedules and would only schedule someone to come out and work one day here, one day there. They messed up the painting of the doors and never did get it right, they destroyed the door hardware for one of the doors. The finish work on the dry wall and the repainting was so bad it had be to be redone and to be honest even the redo was not up to the level of fine finish work that goes with the price for the install. I always felt like our project was not important to Arciform and there was always some other customer who was more important. In the end the end result was a reasonable job but given the cost I felt the quality of the work and the lack of professionalism in scheduling the work and communicating with the customer was lacking and I would not recommend them based on that alone. I am sure that Arciform can do high quality work, but poor management and a lack of attention on working with the customer makes this company a bad choice given the premium prices that they charge. In the future when I have design and finish work I will be sure to take my business elsewhere. read more

Arciform remodeled both of my bathrooms a year ago, and I couldn't be happier. They were very conscientious and I never felt uncomfortable with Jeremy and his team in the house. They kept the dirt and disruption to a minimum and were very respectful. They also gave me a very concise timeline and they stuck to it. They cost a bit more than other firms but I feel it was worth the price. A few of the subway tiles they installed in my shower cracked a few months ago, due to settling, and when I called and told them they sent the tile man out right away and replaced them for no charge. I'm a firm believer in you get what you pay for and I am happy I didn't take the lowest bid. read more

About 2 1/2 years ago we undertook an ambitious renovation and upgrade of our large, recently purchased vintage house. Arciform showed that they saw the possibilities for improving its livability and appeal. One strangely large upstairs room was transformed into a well-balanced area with a bedroom, bathroom and a craft and lounging area. A nondescript carpeted space was made into to an attractive office with a hardwood floor and a wall-length integrated unit with bookshelves, drawers, and cabinets. Every room in the house was improved in some way: A large area of rough slate flooring was replaced with ceramic tiles, additional closet space was added, more shelves and cabinets were installed, kitchen components were replaced, electrical and light fixtures were updated and added. The house was painted or stained throughout. All of this is by way of saying that it was a big project that required planning, coordination and oversight. Creative and workable plans were drawn. The project manager's advice and project guidance reflected excellent taste and judgment. The onsite lead was exceedingly clever in creating solutions. The crew was friendly and considerate. The workmanship was exceptional. Choosing Arciform gave us a house that we are pleased and proud to own. read more

This is an amazing design/build company. Anne and Richard have created something very special, highly ethical with the highest standards of service. Everyone we worked with was highly skilled, professional, friendly and willing to do whatever it took for us to get the kitchen we wanted. Our design team helped us find the best layout for our small space; choose everything from appliances to tile, and saved us money by suggesting companies that had better quality for less. The project manager, Adam, coordinated everything and kept us informed, in detail, of what expect every week. The construction people and our painter are so skillful, helpful and nice to have around. STAY AWAY! An arrogant firm that doesn't listen to client requirements. I overviewed at least 10 projects to give my home in Laurelhurst a complete facelift. They ignored the scope I set forth and wasted my time. Here are a couple excerpts from their bid: "Budget for stairwell and bedrooms...$16, OOO: Budget for exterior paint...$21,000. No detail, prices totally out of tough with reality and this is just a sample. I called Richard De Wolf, their founder who didn't have the guts to call me back. All bids were time and materials. I had a dormer added to my home and Arciform did a beautiful job. The project took longer than expected due to weather complications and the result was worth the wait. Whenever there was a problem, someone came out quickly to deal with it. The project manager and the workers were conscientious about having to be in my house so long to finish the project and were always willing to throw in extras like fixing the water flow on my old bathtub which was not part of the project. Recently, Arciform's owner came out to look at the project as I thought there was a problem (there wasn't) and I appreciated him taking the time on a Sunday. They also stayed within the price range initially agreed upon which was helpful for budgeting. I will recommend them to my friends. read more

Beautiful work, HORRIBLE management. After having to push to even get an invoice after the work was done, they tried to charge me 50% OVER the quote I was given for a spot replacement & wood stain (Read over $900 for a quote that started around $500). After trying to call, getting no call backs, e-mailing, then getting no responses, they sent me another bill MONTHS later with NO RESPONSE as to my original questions and no explanation of the insanely high charge... it's nearly a year after the work was done and still isn't settled. Oh, but it was supposed to be - I e-mailed again, called again, and refused to pay above the quote. I was promised I would be called that day and it would be settled. NO. CALL. About a week later I was thanked for my business and offered a discount on future work, told it was settled... then just received another bill for $940 threatening collections... DO NOT HIRE THESE PEOPLE. I held off on commenting because I know as a small business owner that sometimes things just get missed - it happens. But after this last bill and the continued failure to justify additional charges (there is no reason, and it is unacceptable), I felt the need to make sure people are warned. Do not work with Arciform - their billing and business practices are abominable. read more
