Great service, support and products! We now have our second lawn mower from ARCO. We also have a leaf blower and weed trimmer. We purchased the first mower in 2009 and only just replaced it... it ran well and lasted 15+ years in much thanks to ARCO's winterizer service which, I now know that I should have winterizer it every year... I thought I had just missed last year... I hadn't taken it in for four years... ahem. Don't be like I used to be... do winterize your mower each off-season... commit to yourself to bring it in before Christmas. The first mower did not last longer than that due to an accident on a hillside that damaged it... I let it roll down the back yard hill and along the way it flipped and cracked the gas tank... ahem. Thankfully, the ARCO team was helpful; the first mower was really good and this new one, a 21-inch super recycler (it cuts each blade of grass many times) is AWESOME!! The new mower has much better wheels - thicker and better tread and they roll much more easily, and that is great. AND What really impresses me is the cutting. In spring, grass is always the thickest and we keep our grass tall, so when we cut there is usually a lot of clippings. I typically bag the grass but I did not use the bag this first cut. And I'm amazed... the grass is thick this week. The last time I cut, there were clumps of grass all around the yard, especially where I turned - this is not uncommon. This time - no clumps - this new dual blade makes many fine pieces of each blade of grass, and those small pieces apparently fall deep into the yard and serve to help strengthen the grass (per the Toro video on YouTube). I was also able to walk over the old clumps of last week's grass and they were shredded and disappeared, too - amazing! All I wanted was blade sharpened. Lady talked me into the 'silver package' which included oil change and spark plugs, said they'd pick it up and drop it off, $180 all in....at least that's what I thought. To be fair, the receipt did state "balance due" at the bottom of $120, which I didn't notice until they asked how I wanted to pay the balance when they called me 4 days later than the quoted it'd be done. I would've NEVER agreed to pay $300 for a blade sharpening, oil change, and new spark plug, pickup and drop off (round trip 3 miles). For that, I feel misled. The parts on this were $25ish, and the labor is max 1 hour, including the pickup/dropoff. $250-$275 for labor on small engines is insanity. Take your money elsewhere or do it yourself. Arco had our lawnmower for 7 WEEKS! The communication was terrible. When we dropped it off for a tune-up, oil change and blade sharpening they said it would be 3 weeks. 4 weeks later we get an estimate and we went to talk to them about it. Informed that a part needed to be ordered and it would be a couple of days. A week later, the mower is not finished and they said a couple of days. Called on May 1 and they were supposed to work on it. Called today May5, Arco said there was a crack on the base and they wanted us to sign a waiver (so if someone got hurt because of the crack, they were reliable) and they would get the mower done today. The estimate came to $324 . We didn't have them do the work and now the self propeltion cable is broken and it was not broken when we dropped it off in March!!! read more

I paid for a appointment online that I requested cancellation twice with no response from the company. I followed up with a phone call to request cancellation and refund. They stated that their technology would not allow me to get a refund unless I visited the store. I then asked for an email stating that I made this call and that they would confirm my request for cancellation and refund. They refused. I then asked to speak to manager, he stated he was the manager. I asked him for his name and he refused. I then asked for the owner name and he again refused. Buyer Beware. read more

I went to ARCO this year, after the mower service place I had used for years closed in 2021. They provided prompt service, and when some damage to my mower was discovered during the servicing, they were very up-front and discussed the options available. They notified me when the mower was ready for pick-up. All in all, a good experience. When I got the mower home, I sat it in my garage and was going to move it to the shed the next day. When I did so, one of the wheels that had been replaced on the rear drive came loose. I brought the mower back two days later, and they apologized sincerely, and fixed the wheel while I waited. They stood behind their work, which to me is much more important than the oversight on the wheel in the first place. Great experience! read more

Do not buy from this store. We needed a part for a Zero Turn Lawn Mower. We called Arco and the female who answered the phone assured us on speakerphone that they had the exact part we needed. We left right away and went to get this as none of the other area Lawn Mower shops had it in stock. The part is NOT correct. The pins are NOT in the same location as the Original Manufactures Switch. This is beyond disappointing as we expected the item to be correct. We return to Arco just two days later with the Switch for a refund. The female working said that there are no returns or refunds. Arco made the mistake on the part, Arco should stand behind what they sell. We were also not offered to make an exchange or return the switch for store credit. We will not return, shading business practices. There are far better lawn mower shops in the area with superior Customer Service. read more

DO NOT USE ARCO FOR SERVICE. They picked up my zero turn Toro at the end of July and I got it back in September. When the delivered it, it still did not work. They picked it up again and I just got it back, Oct 5. The first time it needed $1100 dollars in repairs (including 2 new tires and tubes). The second time it cost. an additional $500 in repairs. I let them know I was not happy with the service and asked to talked to a manager. They said the manager was not available and would call me back the next day. They never called. Weekly I called for a progress report and each week I was told they were waiting on parts, a tech is out sick, or someone was on vacation. Two months and over $1600 dollars in repairs on a $3000 mower. Do not use these people. Their motto should be "we really don't care." read more

Good selection in the store, but service costs are bad, service timelines are terrible, and I got back a machine that works worse than the one I dropped off. In addition, I now have a mower that I cannot remove the blades on. They over tightened the bolts. When asked if I could have them take the bolts off I was informed that I would have to drop it off and wait a week. This is a 30 second job. It's an issue they created, yet they are not willing to do anything about it. I guess this is how you ensure repeat service. read more

Went in to get a new part for my blower. After being told, one price, the price ended up being double. Then when asked about a warranty, I was told no but then I was told later that there's a 30 day warranty, and then they said they would have to clear it through the manufacturer, to honor it, sounds like a bunch of games at this place. Avoid at all costs. Terrible customer service in addition to products of the lowest quality and very expensive repairs to top it all off. I decided to give this place a shot in March of 2019 to purchase a new lawnmower and support a local small business. Fast forward less than 18 months later and I have had to bring it into the shop 5 times for repairs. The most recent was $115 to replace the drive belt. For those unaware, this is a $10 part and shouldn't be more than a 10-minute job. Arco has refused to contact the manufacturer or replace the mower as I am convinced it is a lemon and instead just keeps trying to squeeze every penny out of their customers to maintain their low-quality products. It pains me to say it but save yourself the hassle and for the same cost and far superior customer service head onto over to Home Depot, Lowes, or Menards for your next lawn care purchase. read more

And while that experience was negative, since then, the director contacted me, apologized and admitted mistakes were made in the rental checkin/checkout procedures, and that the matter wasn't handled properly on their end as well. I think it says a lot about the organization to take the time to do all of that, and it definitely resolved the issue for me. This is one local business that wants to serve the people in the community, so while the initial experience wasn't great...they definitely deserve a second chance from me, and seem to be one others can trust to work with as well. read more

Now 10 months later no gift card and the manager Tony said I received a $500 discount at the time of purchase although nothing on my receipt said that I received any discount and nothing was said about a immediate discount at the time of purchase. I purchased my Toro ZTR mower over 8 years ago and have had it repaired and serviced there. From the very first sales experience through every one of the repairs and service, I have been happy with the team at Arco. Since purchasing my mower I have moved 20 miles away and still utilize Arco as my "go to" for mower needs. This place Rocks! I traditionally did all my own small engine maintenance for 30+ yrs, but have been too busy lately so gave ARCO a shot at doing it. Specifically, I had ARCO troubleshoot and repair both my STIHL Backpack Blower and Husky Professional grade trimmer in the past six months. On both occasions they did a top notch job, provided me with my old parts to reveal condition of them, ran units in front of me before i left, and provided helpful tips for future maintenance. Further, they have the most complete selection of parts and equipment across a broad range of brands. But this is what tipped the scale for me...i had recently done a maintenance on my Husky trimmer in the previous 6 months and replaced my plug and filters. Shortly after i did so, i experienced excessive fuel leakage from the unit. I explained to ARCO that i did not want to be charged for an annual service or have my filters or plug replaced. When troubleshooting my unit they found my air filter and plug were in poor condition due to an deteriorated carb. So, they replaced my air filter and spark plug and didn't charge me for it. When i received my old parts back i saw the poor condition they were in, but the ARCO rep stayed professional and didn't press the issue. I discovered i was wrong and they treated the customer right. I love this place and plan to only go to ARCO from now on. They treat you like family. read more

Called and asked if they had a specific model lawnmower in stock, they told me "yes" we have that model here. Drove in and they couldn't find it nor were they interested in looking for it. They told me they had it but it wasn't checked in yet. Give us 1 day to check it in and we'll call you. 4 days later I called and they not only didn't have it but they weren't going to get it in. They did offer to sell me a slightly downgraded model for $40.00 more than I could have bought it elsewhere the week before ( the other store was now out if that model). Tip: If you need lawn mower service, don't call ARCO. I called twice, left all my information, requested a pickup and no one ever called me back. DON"T GO TO ARCO IN AFTION! I went to the Arco lawn in Afton and my initial experience was just okay. I have gone back several of times for oil and trimmer line. But, there is one guy that is always at the front counter. Just about every time I go there he rings me up. I don't know this guys name but he is just a complete asshole. He is not very helpful and always seems to be in a bad mood. I don't know what the fuck this guys problem is but he needs to be a little more friendly. I recently doped off a commercial stihl weed eater that I bought earlier in the season. It has not wanted to idle or stay running. I told the guy this and he started coming at me with the fresh gas bullshit. He said fresh gas is gas pumped "five minutes ago". I always use fresh 89 octain gas with Stihl hp ultra at a 50:1 mix. And I never let use gas more than two weeks old. Anyways, It's disappointing that I already am having issues with the trimmer I bought there only a couple of months ago. On top of that the other guys don't really seem to know anything about the equipment they sell. Whatever you do just don't go to Arco, THERE SHIT. I have a 42 club cadet and some how my pulley spring snapped. So I had to finished the yard with my toro 33. My day not starting of the best, so I drove up to get it replace. To front counter lady was very informative and told me that they recently just became a dealer for club and that parts are slowly coming in. Which I the part had to be order about 3/5 days out she could see the frustration on my face. She the ask rob her repair guy to see if he had any parts laying around. Man long story short dude went above and beyond he didn't have the part he repaired mines within 15/20 mins I was in and out. This shop is out of my way to get equipment or daily supplies it you've earn a customer now I'll take the drive to that type of service any day appreciate y'all so much just don't know !!!! My two lawn mowers, a riding and push mower, were picked up on a Monday from my home and promised to be returned on Friday of same week. I negotiated the timing about two weeks in advance and explained at the time it was essential to meet my time frame or I would go elsewhere. The service writer gave me his word that he understood and Arco could meet my time concerns. I called on the Saturday, the day after the mowers were promised back to discover why the mowers had not been returned and at very least why I had not been called. "Oh we don't call clients, they call us", I was told. I asked to speak with the original service writer. The lady said he was not working this day but would leave him an email to call me on Monday. No phone call on Monday, Tuesday or today. I called again today, Wednesday, after the mowers were due back on Friday. The mowers were done and someone was to call me about delivery. I game my credit card and later today the mowers were delivered to my home. Arco's owner[s] do not have guidance/training for their staff on how to administer good customer service. Obviously the owner[s] does not care hence all the negative reviews. I will not use Arco again and I strongly suggest you carefully consider another business for your lawn equipment repairs. gotta love the Sunday early evening mow when the riding lawn mower mid-way thru mowing back fires, runs rough and stalls. push it back the garage. start texting friends they indicate a carburetor problem and recommend removing it and taking it to be rebuilt. on Monday enter Sharon at the Arco service department. i bring the carb in, she is friendly and helpful during the in take process. gathers all the important information and states a 3 day turn is expected. that seemed fast to me but i did not have preset expectations. on the way home-Tim calls to tell me it can be rebuilt but with parts and labor it would be more than a new part and the rebuild would not have the warranty the new part would have. the $25 service deposit i left could then be applied to the cost of the new part. thanks for saving me both time and money Tim and Sharon. great service and honesty are hard to find today but ARCO has it! Every time I have needed a part Arco has it or gets in in short order. When I needed work on my Pole saw they turned it around in days so I could take it out of town. As anyone who reads the previous review will see, I had gone through what I felt was a horribly negative experience with ARCO. Well, to my surprise I just recently received a phone call from an employee named Tony about how he saw my Yelp review and was interested in speaking with me to clear things up and figure out why I was so upset. I admired that effort as I haven't generally left particularly upset reviews but when I have done so I have never encountered such a quick and focused effort to help fix the problem. Basically, from my conversation with Tony at ARCO it became clear that at some point there was a massive break-down in communication where the associate who helped me either misunderstood my questions or spoke horribly incorrectly. I wrote in my earlier review how I was enraged because it was told to me that the 20 dollars off a new mower I was due for bringing in my other one would in fact result in my getting a mower just in the box and not fueled or oiled. I felt that was a bait and switch, and Tony agreed with me that such a deal would be--but that actually isn't the deal! I was in fact due that 20 dollars off a mower, and the deal where someone were to get 20 dollars off if they got in the box was a completely separate deal. Therefore, the correct way of stating the deals would be that I could have theoretically gotten 40 dollars off were I to choose both completely different options, but my 20 dollars was its own thing where I would have gotten my mower completely assembled with fuel and oil AND still gotten that discount--exactly what I had initially expected. I don't know if the way I worded my question caused the sale associate to speak incorrectly or if they were new and unsure what I was talking about, but in my conversation with Tony he assured me he would speak with the associate to make sure such an issue wouldn't arise again and otherwise worked with me to help make things right. As for the mowers being a bit expensive for me, Tony explained how they have an exclusive deal to sell Toro mowers and as those are a bit more of a professional-grade kind that explains the cost, but even if I were to buy a mower somewhere else they would love my business for my mower-servicing needs. Also, my wondering about if they use parts from turned-in mowers turned out to be a moot point as they just recycle mowers and never re-use parts, which is good as I've known of places that do that but am glad to know ARCO does not. I have gone from being very upset with ARCO to being extremely pleased they cared enough to reach out to me--a random guy on the internet who uses Yelp--figure out why I was upset and work to rectify it. That is amazing customer service and something Tony told me they were dedicated to doing, which after his working with me to figure out what went wrong is proven true. Now that I am no longer mad at ARCO, regardless of if I get my next mower from them or somewhere else I anticipate using their service department as it is clear they do care about customers. We took our lawn mower into Arco after an incident with a swingset. It was nearby, and we had a coupon from a local magazine or mailer. No coupon will ever make me go back there again. First of all, I think their rates are a little on the high side to begin with, but I'd gladly pay even a little more for better service. We took our mower in at the beginning of May. They had quite a backlog, and we were given a bench date of May 24th. Understandable. It was the beginning of lawn mowing season, and my parents lived close by enough to borrow theirs once or twice. No big deal. We dropped our $40 deposit. May 25th rolls around, and I haven't heard from them. I give them a call after not hearing from them, and they JUST took a look at it (Yeah, I'm sure they were JUST about to call me too...). They gave me an estimate and said they had to order a part. They hoped to have it as soon as Friday, May 27th but stated it could be Tuesday, May 31st due to the holiday. Understandable. No problem. After not hearing from them by June 4th, I stop in the store. They explain to me that the part was backordered and had to be ordered direct ship from the manufacturer. That would have been nice to know. I explain to them my frustration that communication has been very one sided. They say the part is due in Monday, June 6th. Thursday, June 9th rolls around and still no call from them. My husband calls, and they explain that they received the part broken and had to send it back, rush shipping a new one. Once again, would have been nice to have been updated on this. We've been without a mower of our own for over a month! We go on vacation until the 19th, so no worries staring at an overgrown lawn then. However, we also never received a phone call. We had to call them upon our return on the 20th and FINALLY had a working mower. The repair seems to have done the job, but what a hassle! Totally not worth it. The level of customer service is near infuriating. I will not use them again if lawn equipment repair is necessitated, and I would not recommend them to anyone else. read more

I love Arco. I have lived in the area for 30+ years and had always driven past without going inside. Last year during the blizzard I checkout the store to see what their snow-blower stock looked like compared to the other big box stores. They had quite an array of sizes blowers. What impressed me was the amount of time they took to describe the benefits of each while inquiring about my needs. I needed up buying one that day which they assembled lickity split and even loaded into my truck. This summer I came back to purchase a chain saw. Again the staff took their time to explain the ins and outs of chain saws and helped me settle on a particular model. Due to human error I managed to severely kill the unit I bought. I returned with the unit hoping it could be repaired, but alas it was a goner. Joe, the Sales Manager, grieved with me over the loss of my new tool and helped me purchase a new one. Joe even stayed 15 minutes after closing to ensure that I knew exactly what I did wrong and how to present future operating problems. Like I said, I love the shop. I am sorry the previous reviewer did not have the experience I did. I would recommend ARCO to anyone. read more

If service was FREE you'd be getting RIPPED off... We only came here because where my son bought the mower ($2400.00 Toro commercial grade) last year had a 4 week waiting period. Upon dropping the mower off they could not process my son's credit card for the $40.00 deposit needed on a $2400.00 mower before they would start work. They noted the credit card number on his ticket and said they would bill him all at once when the job was done. He then gets a call from their receptionist days later stating they could not start service until he paid the $40.00 deposit, which she was told you people do not know what the left hand is doing, check the notes on the ticket. They also said as a matter of policy if the bill is under $150.00 they go ahead with service. ARCO failed to call to get his authorization hitting him with over $300.00 unnecessary seasonal maintenance bill!! A bill is one thing but it went beyond terrible. They have no regard to take care of your property they scratched the hell out of his seriously well taken care of mower and BENT THE FRONT AXLE!!!! "They must have FAKE 5 star positive reviews" even taking a credit card took 3 people. The service manager did not even have the balls to apologize, he even had the delusion TO THINK WE WOULD RETURN FOR FUTURE SERVICE. He had the audacity to say to us we don't think we can meet your future service needs take his business elsewhere. THANKS FOR FIXING THE DAMAGE YOU CAUSED ARCO 3 WEEKS LATER!!! We have no idea how they got Toro to pay for the damages (at no charge to), but we will be calling Toro. read more

This place is amazing and our "go-to" lawn equipment company for purchases and servicing. I could not believe the service we received this week when my elderly father and I went in to look for a gas powered edger. There was only one in stock and it was in the loading area. We agreed to return later to review. Jeremy overheard our conversation and quickly went to the storage area and assembled the edger and brought it up for our review. He showed us the features and was so helpful. The product was so much better than what we had been able to find on the internet! It was well worth my father's 20 mile drive. read more

I drove 30 minutes to buy a chain saw from Arco. I called in advance, was told they had inventory and I told them I'd be there shortly. To my surprise, nobody was working the sales floor. Two girls were on the phones. Over nearly 30 min I was repeatedly told "just a few minutes more." I finally left, after the last few more minutes. If you are a customer. Intetested in top of the line equipment, you should get top of the line customer service. Arco wasted my time traveling there and back and through their idiotic "just a few more minutes." We bought our walk behind Toro from Arco several years ago. We've taken it in occasionally for routine service and most recently for a broken cable and tune-up. It was ready for pick-up the next day! I used to frequent this store under the prior ownership. Now, after several stop-ins, I am finished with them forever. I've purchased several chain saws here and have have service performed here on other equipment. I stopped in when Covid started to get my chains sharpened and was told that they can't sharpen chains due to covid. I left with my dull blades and put them in my back seat. I remembered them recently and brought them in again. This time the price went up by $4 or $5.00 a blade from the last time, and was told it would take 5 days. I also needed some other small items and a new chain. One employee didn't know anything about anything and asked another for help. They finally found what I needed and. Both were snippy and a bit rude. I went up the street and had the blades sharpened for 60% of their price and done in less than a day. Rude to customers, high priced, and more concerned with themselves than customers. read more

I'm a 19 year old who bought a $1k mower with my hard earned mowing money from ARCO about 3 years ago at the age of 16. I took it to ARCO for every one of my mower's scheduled maintenance for those 3 years, with out a single issue. Until last summer when I took it to ARCO for a tune up and to get the blades sharpened for the fall. I picked the mower up from ARCO and used the mower exactly like I always had.. Then, when I took the mower to ARCO again in the winter, they said my mower had no oil in it and that it needed a whole new engine. I thought back to when I picked up my mower and recalled that the job did look severely incomplete.. a small wiring repair was still not done and I had to ask a service member to do it (I can only assume the oil change was still incomplete too when I picked up my mower). Long story short I had to pay ARCO $350 to fix my previously well-running engine that THEY broke by forgetting to put oil back into it during a routine checkup. Never giving this place any business again. read more

I took my lawn mower in for the Early Bird Special (That's bringing in it for service during the off months like Dec-Feb.) and picked it up mid-March. I hadn't needed to mow my yard until early April and was having trouble starting the mower. I tried everything! Check the spark plug? Check! Gas line on? Check? It would FINALLY start after about 10 minutes of this and then I would not turn it off for fear of not being able to get it started again. This went on for several mowings as I was sure that it was something that I was doing wrong. I FINALLY had had enough after attempting to start it for 15 minutes last evening and took it in to ARCO this morning around 8:30! Sharon is always so warm and welcoming when the customers come in! I told her about my problems and she had me take it down to the repair area where a VERY helpful young man fiddled with it for a few minutes and got it going! He then took it down to the work area where four or five other technicians got it revving to full power. I likened it to a bunch of doctors standing around a patient! Turned out that it was only bad gas and it starts on the FIRST pull!!! (Haven't we all had "gs" issues at one time or another???!!!)
