Unprofessional all around. Ultimately I'm glad I'm not going to be a patient of Dr. McCowan because her behavior in this non-clinical situation speaks poorly to what the experience of being her patient would be like. EDIT: After I published my review on Google, the practice manager responded by describing it as "slander." That is not only very unprofessional , but it is also FALSE. In order for something to be slanderous, it must be not true. I would ask for them to specify what was misrepresented or be more careful about the verbiage they use.

Doc is an "old school" Doc, if he suspects an issue, he gets tests done, if he thinks you need a procedure, he sends you for it, he runs the care for his patients, not some insurance company. He is always available and gets back right back to you. Brian the office manager, is on top of EVERY aspect of someone's care and runs the practice very well. Very glad I followed Doc to his new practice.

I have found that the caretakers through Adam's are very respectful of the client and they family. They provide the level of communication you desire - if you want to get updates daily or every few hours, they will accomodate. We also had a direct contact who would share when a new caretaker was joining the team or if there was someone who had a conflict and someone new was filling in. I didn't have to worry that my father had safe coverage and that he was receiving a high quality of care. They also worked well with my father's memory care facility and with the hospice nurses. There are a lot of moving parts sometimes that can make communication and coordination complex, but Adams is very proactive and accomodating.

I was in serious pain and was seen on the same day I made the call, that in itself is amazing. Upon arrival, the staff was professional and very concerned about my condition. They listened closely as I described my ailment and told me everything that they were doing. When Dr. Blake came in I was very nervous and she recognized my heighten state. She took her time examining me and throughout the process she remained very calm and explained what she was doing. She gave me her diagnosis along with a follow-up treatment plan. The staff then proceeded to take care of all the follow-up appointments needed, from booking my MRI to calling my PCP to get prior approval. That has never happened to me with any other Doctor's office. Usually I'm the one making all the calls. I wish I could give Boston Pain Specialist a perfect 10 but 5 is the highest on Yelp. Because of my Mother in law's unique condition I was promised she would be placed with an aide that was both understanding and knowledgeable and she definitely is. Her laundry is being done and grocery shopping is no longer something I have to try and fit in my busy schedule. Bathing was a big issue and struggle and I am thrilled that she is agreeing to it and she looks and feels great because of the care she has been receiving . A nurse comes to visit her once a month which i think is an added bonus and really gives us a peace of mind. I highly recommend this company.

It did take 2 years of begging them to go to the next step, then the next etc etc... Trial and sometimes other treatments just didnt work for me. They dont just see you for 5 minutes and send you off with a bunch of pills, that's not going to happen here as with other places I had tried. The doctors here are good at what they do. Very organized. The one and only downfall I had during the last 6 years of coming here was insurance related. This they will NOT budge on, if your primary hasnt preautherized enough visits your not seeing someone here, period. Due diligence is on you to ensure you have these visits preautherized. Overall I would say if your looking to find relief from chronic pain, something more than filling a script of narcotics then start care here, it may take time, they would rather try less invasive forms of treatment first, and that's something you may have to settle on barring through, but eventually (if needed) they will find the proper pain relieving treatment for you and you will live your life again.
