Always have liked it here for specific, unique flowers. Best to visit in person to select what you're looking for from the day's selection, as it can sometimes be hit or miss. But the staff are honest and knowledgeable, haven't felt like they'd present you unknowingly with something subpar. Just enjoy going in myself to choose. read more

I am so pleased with the arrangement and the personal service I received from Charles and his team--A small project at a very busy time of year! They finished my permanent botanical arrangement in a short time and they had obviously listened to every request and suggestion I made as they added their own vision and artistry. Who knew? I'm staying in ROC for awhile and I've driven past this place several times. (East Avenue is a main thoroughfare if you're not familiar with the the area.) To explain the three stars, I have no real option, bad or good, so three seems safe. First, I had no idea this was a floral shop until I started to read reviews, that seems to be a pretty well kept secret. The display windows scream out that this is a high-end decor supplier and art gallery, catering to interior designers and those of sophisticated taste. (Which pretty much leaves me out.) I went there because I could see furniture in the windows of the second floor. My semi-ambulatory host is looking for some unique furniture, and since this seemed like a unique place (and it is) I went to browse. During Covid19, you must buzz in at the front door and wait for someone to let you in. I was impressed by the selection of, well, stuff. Decorations of all types and this time of the year, there are a lot of Christmas trees, wreaths, and holiday decor. The assortment of offerings is, in a word, eclectic and very interesting. Unfortunately, nothing for my current dwelling but if I were starting from scratch in a new house, I'd be here. read more

I love Arena's, can't quite afford everything here but love it! They have some of the most beautiful and most exquisite vintage pieces in the entire city. And the floral arrangements they do are GORG. The store is lovely and carries some fun local made items as well as beautiful vintage pieces. They have two levels and lock the door, so you will need to ring the doorbell to be let in. Yes, the prices are high. But again, some of the pieces are hard to find. I didn't experience any issues with customer service. They weren't the friendliest, but also not the rudest. Parking is easy enough on the street. read more

This place is STUNNING... They have parking on the side of the building.. Yea that's important ! It's beautiful inside.. Yes they have flowers, simply beautiful, candles that smell fabulous and the prices are pretty good and they even have their own candle.. Yes they do. They carry Beekman 1802 as well. They have perfume, jewelry, scarfs and upstairs home decor it's simply a beautiful store. They also have an interior design part of the business I think a few doors down. Now the things here you won't find anyplace else. Yes it's not inexpensive but you get what you pay for.. I will be back to purchase a few things. It's a lovely store to see if anything it gives you ideas for your own place. I've lived here in Rochester since February 2015 and I've wanted this come in.. Glad I did and you should too. Customer Service is not their thing... I may just be spoiled by great florists...the NY culture is different than what I'm used to...or Arena's is so high class they don't need to focus on customer satisfaction. Their arrangement was beautiful: unique and creative, my wife was very pleased and surprised for a fresh take on the first arrangement I got her almost 7 years ago. That said, The first conversation lacked chemistry, which should have been my indication to go elsewhere... and after 3 days the flowers were browning and wilting (despite following their instructions to change the water & wash the stems daily). I stopped in the morning of the 4th day to ask them if they would freshen up the flowers, to which I was given excuse as to why Arena's isn't responsible for the quality or longevity of the flowers and people ship with them because of their unique arrangements. I asked a few times if all they could do is freshen up the arrangement, to which they repeated the exact same, long as to why they wouldn't do that. At the end he stated "I hope that answer is a satisfactory answer for you." My reply as I was walking out the door simply stated that it was dissatisfying, but it is what it is. Later that afternoon I received an email from the manager offering me a mailed gift certificate and an opportunity to stop in and receive instruction on hour pick out better flowers. (They picked the flowers for the last arrangement.) I replied a few days later with an address and some more feedback. I have yet to receive a reply. Arena's is far more than a florist. If you've passed this shop multiple times but never entered, I urge you to go. The design team here never ceases to amaze me. Not classic by any means, they combine organic and rustic elements with modern industrial touches to create displays unique to any store in Western NY. They sell upscale flowers (unique arrangements!), a huge selection of succulents, gourmet snacks, candles, home furnishings, cards, furniture...everything to upgrade the aesthetics of your living space. They even sell Jonathan Adler pieces! If you're into retro modern art, you'll love his stuff. The only drawback to Arena's is that they're constantly trying to upsell you. Just about every time I've ordered flowers - or friends have ordered flowers - they'll try to talk you up from your price range. I understand the idea of them wanting to give you the nicest arrangement for the most reasonable price, but sometimes it feels disingenuous. This place is beautiful. The displays, the flowers--everything. If you need a gift for someone, you should come here. Just be aware that everything is expensive. This is a high-end store and the prices reflect that. The reason for my 3 stars is the way I was treated when I stopped in. I came just to look, with no intentions of buying anything. One of the employees saw us (my 20 year old brother and I) walk in and asked if we were "just browsing." I said yes and she gave me a strange, unfriendly look and walked away. Something about the way they acted around us--I felt like I was being judged. It reminded me of the times when I was a kid and I came in stores alone and no one took me seriously. I am in my 20's for crying out loud. We were wearing nice clothing and being respectful as we browsed. It's not like we are little kids.. Toward the end of our visit, another employee was more friendly and started making conversation. I appreciated that, but still couldn't get over how judged I felt in that store. Very very beautiful place to say the least. But way too expensive for my taste. This store has everything, I mean every little glamorous knick knack or large pieces of furniture for your home. What caught my eye was the beautiful plantings in the window. I love cacti and they had a nice assortment. Of course, I couldn't spend $75 dollars on a plant, but I sure would have loved to. Arena's also has very beautiful jewelry and other cute gifts scattered throughout the store. They also have a flower market in the back of the store where you can order gorgeous arrangements for any event, wedding or just for your home. I think this store is worth checking out, even if you don't plan on purchasing anything. The atmosphere is interesting and eye catching. And there's 2 floors of endless items to check out. read more

Although they claim to offer custom designs, they will not create anything that doesn't fit with the owner's "aesthetic." These designs are appropriate for a dowager's boudoir featuring droopy, pathetic, monotone flowers all accented with dirty gold. They refuse to even consider putting together an arrangement that is bright or cheerful or whimsical and insult the customer if the customer dares to request something that might feature jewel toned flowers with some perk. The prices for arrangements that you don't like are exorbitant. Much better off to buy a bouquet at Wegmans. read more

The flowers here are not cheap but you can put together a small, artful arrangement that people will ooh-and-ah over for about $20 (or you can go get a pretty boring bouquet for a few dollars less at Wegmans and no one will say much of anything). The shop is also full of cool funky home decorations. Lots of things made from wood, white porcelain, moss-ball type things, air plants, etc. I love this style. Lots of gift ideas or cool additions for your own home. Probably one of my best experiences was walking into Arena's the day before my wedding and asking them to make bouquets. Arena's made a beautiful bouquet that made my wife very happy on our anniversary. By reputation and my one experience I'd say that they are a very reliable Rochester florist - they are known as the best. Also I ordered less widely available flowers (midnight or eggplant calla lillies and orchids), and they filled my request fairly well. I thought the bouquet should have had a few more stems, especially since they asked me to increase my price point, and I didn't need a vase. (They originally priced it with a vase.) The garnish and wildflowers were nicer than most florists I've gone to, but that is not what I'm paying for. I've ordered flowers in Buffalo, NYC, and Philly, and I'd have to say that the pricing is more like NYC, which let me down quite a bit. NYC is the only other place I've been advised by the florist to increase my price point to get a more adequate bouquet. And $12-15 for delivery is harsh in Rochester, where most places are a brisk walk away. On the other hand, I was spoiled in Buffalo by a large florist that would be uncommon anywhere - beautiful large bouquets at exceptional prices. My wife was very happy, and so I can see myself going back rather than taking a chance somewhere else on special occasions, but I will keep looking for another florist for smaller bouquets. read more

I can't explain how I feel about this place...but I'm going to try. Being from the SF bay area, I feel like Rochester really lacks in several areas, but Arena's is definitely not one of them. This is truly a top of the line florist. From the moment I walked in, I felt a feeling of serenity. This place has such a beautiful and organic decor, and every item in the store is beautiful in itself. I was shopping for home decor and wanted to take the whole place home with me. I had a look at the flowers and they were absolutely stunning. I don't even understand where they get such beautiful flowers from!! I had to touch several of the flowers to confirm they were real. I've attempted to get flowers from a couple places close to my parents in Henrietta and have been disappointed, even with the strictest of instructions... to the point where a florist told my mom, "Well, your son sure knows what he wants." Still, sadly a swing and a miss. No one holds a candle to Arena's in Rochester. If you want to wow someone with flowers, look no further. As a typical man in some regards (specifically in waiting till the last minute to get the trappings of each and every holiday) I ended up stopping at Arena's on my way home from work on Valentine's Day to grab some flowers for my GF. It turns out that I made a good choice based on previous reviews and got some fresh flowers that they customized on the spot for me. They were nearly out of roses by the time that I got there but luckily I was looking for Gerber daises and they got me out of there with a simple and tasteful bouquet for right around $10. I would definitely go back to Arena's to cover me when I need to meet the basic needs of a holiday or just to grab something nice for the GF to make sure the kitchen looks nice or to put a smile on her face. read more

Oh Arenas. I really wanted to love you. I really did. But... Arena's was my only choice for my wedding flowers, because 1) I wanted amazing flowers and 2) My bff used them for her wedding and the flowers were over the top gorgeous. Their store is beautiful and although their prices are much higher than every other florist in Rochester, it was pretty much right next door to our wedding venue and that made it super easy for us. Edward, our consultant, was super nice, very helpful, and honest in our consultation. We had long discussions about EXACTLY what I wanted, since I am admittedly a total pain in the ass and very particular. I wanted a certain look. Vintage vessels, purple flowers, no filler crap, and NO GREEN FLOWERS even after they suggested it about 10 times. I hate green flowers, and I made sure he knew it. He even came with me to my venue and we mapped out exactly where I wanted eveything to go. He went above and beyond, I felt. But still, I didn't end up getting what I wanted. One day before the wedding, Arena's called us to say that half the containers we had picked and rented had arrived broken, and they would have to substitute. I was not happy, but OK, some things can't be helped. Then they told me half the flowers they ordered had come dead, and they couldn't use them and had to substitute. Um, not OK, but still, if that's what happened, it couldn't be helped. At that point I was worried about the flowers. I stopped by Arena's and asked to see them to make sure they would be OK for the next day, and they told me no. I mean, really? I paid a sh*tload of money and wanted to see them because I wanted them to be perfect. They told me no, and sent me on my way without letting me see them. Fast forward to the day of the wedding. What I wanted was vintage vessels with romantic looking PURPLE flowers. What I got was MODERN square vessels, with GREEN weeds everywhere, overshadowing what little purple flowers they did use. It sounds harsh, but I was shocked by what they ended up providing. Everyone complimented how beautiful they were and I will even admit that they were lovely flowers. FOR SOMEONE ELSE. The point is, they were not what I paid for, and not what I wanted. The green weed things everywhere REALLY bothered me, so much so that when I got my wedding pictures and had to look at them again, it bothered me enough to write this review as a warning. BE SPECIFIC with what you want for your wedding. Don't accept their "substitutions" without seeing them, and if they tell you no, tell them yes, like I wish I would have. Truthfully I totally trusted Edward because he was very honest and I liked him immediately. But in hindsight, I feel that he wouldn't let me see the flowers beforehand because he KNEW they were not what I wanted, and he figured that on the day of the wedding, I would be too busy to worry about it. It's something that two weeks later matters only to me, but it was my wedding, and when I look at the photos, those flowers still make me unhappy. read more

I frazzedly (It's a word, I say so) stumbled into Arena's three weeks ago with a desperate and difficult plea: Could they, on short notice and a tight budget, assemble a really not-boring floral scheme thinger for my upcoming wedding? If you've read the rest of the reviews, you already know the answer is yes, of course they could. It is with utmost sincerity that my non-touchy-feely self says that I want to hug the Arena's staff, especially Edward, for making my complete non-vision come to life. I knew I wanted some succulents, some weird green stuff, and dark colors, and that was about it. Edward heard my vague descriptions and assembled something really friggin' lovely and out-of-the-ordinary for my bouquet, boutonniere and dog collar... right, the dog collar. See, we had a 140 lb dog of honor in attendance, and Edward did not bat an eyelash at the request for dog adornment. I also called two days before the ceremony to add another boutonniere and a corsage, and no one sighed or rolled their eyes at me or ANYTHING. While the price point may be a bit higher than other local shops, I was made to feel extremely welcome despite my limited budget and weird requests, and the quality of what they put together for me was impeccable. The collar stayed assembled and gorgeous through the night and my bouquet survived several uses as a head bopping weapon. What more could a blushing bride ask for? I also bought a felted stuffed wooly mammoth while arranging for my flowers, so if you're into that sort of thing, this is your joint. THANKS ARENA'S! read more

In a word--STUNNING. I've been a regular customer over the years, even during my (relatively) impoverished student days, because of the inspiring aesthetics of Charles and his employees. For flowers--usually there are glorious specimens in the shop--I will select just a few stems, and the employees will whip up an impressive, artful bouquet for under $20 or $25. I always love perusing the decor items upstairs, and while much of it is out of my price range, I get design ideas and occasionally stumble into an affordable, unique piece (e.g., a tiled cast iron table) that will transform a room of my house. Heads Up on Arenas. My Dad was an avid gardener and had always appreciated beautiful flowers. In preparing for Dad's Memorial Service on 1.30.16 we decided we would spare no expense to ensuring he had two large beautiful bouquets. Knowing that Arenas was recognized as the best place in the city, we stopped by. We walked around a table display of beautiful and unique flowers with the employee as we repeatedly told her that we wanted the bouquets to consist of 'spring colors of yellow, pinks, purples with an organic flare and nothing dark or funereal'. $300 was the price limit we set. Please take a look at the two attachments to see what we got for 300 plus dollars. When we saw what had been delivered, my wife contacted Arenas and happened to speak with associate who had worked with us when we placed the order. When my wife expressed her dismay, the employee acknowledged she should have written down our specifications. After sending the same two attachments to Arenas, I received a call back from the store manager, Edward. Edward told me he thought the bouquets 'looked absolutely fabulous'. You decide. Did we get what we requested ? Was each vase worth $150 ?. To Arenas credit they offered us $150 store credit or $100 cash reimbursement. Although it was a nice gesture and one we considered, we could not accept on principle with the stores manager maintaining that our bouquets order looked 'fabulous'. read more

I come through Arena often as I love its decor and so much of what it offers reminds me of my NYC days. I recently purchased some small items (gold spray painted pears) for a dining table centerpiece and was happy to buy four of them at $3 a piece. When I got home, I saw that the woman wrote "4 = $16" on the receipt, which is kooky math. I wasn't willing to drive all the way back for a correction, but it was annoying to be charged 4 extra dollars, especially when they started peeling just days after purchase. Should have gone to the Dollar Tree and painted some plastic pears myself. Lesson learned. read more

Pretty disappointed. I'm from Boston, locally I am familiar with Winston's (the absolute BEST) so I asked for a personal recommendation on the best florist in Rochester from a friend. I went to the website to confirm and was initially delighted with what I saw. They don't have arrangements to view online, just pretty photos of past work and the flower shop. To play it safe I decided on an orchid (you can't mess up an orchid can you?) I asked the rep if they would 'dress it up' which I should not have to do at a florist of this caliber and she assured me it would be beautiful. Well my girlfriend sent me a photo of her delivery today and all I can say is that it is = to an orchid I could have purchased myself at a Lowes or Home Depot for $25. I wish I could post a photo here for you to see it. While it did have 2 stems of flowers, it was in a basic clay pot and the 'dressing up' involved some moss under the leaves. For $100 this is really a slap in the face. If you do order from Arena's you have to be very prescriptive apparently. I called to let the shop know my expectations had not been met and Edward told me I should have stated I didn't want a clay pot. Interesting how it turns out to be my error. read more

Upon my mother in laws insistence, I had my wedding flowers done at Arena's. The man who I assumed to be the owner took care of us and really tried to understand what I was looking for and also was patient that I had no actual idea what I wanted. My bouquet and centerpieces turned out beautifully. The store itself is so carefully designed and decorated you'd swear you were in NYC. Most of the decor that's for sale is pretty pricey but the items appear one of a kind. Definitely a good place to go for gifts. Only reason I didn't give 5 stars is because it is extremely expensive. I had a small wedding and wasn't paying for my own flowers, but if it was up to me and my low budget I would never been able to afford to use them as my florist. read more

Looks beautiful and nice products but the owners attitude and interest in their clients doesn't match. When we lived In Rochester 20 years ago I often shopped at Arena's. Stopped in today while back in town after 20 years, and what a disappointment. The owner couldn't wait to get me out of the store so he could close. In fact he stepped in front of me to rope off the second floor when I was walking up the stairs. He made the decision for me not to purchase today or ever again. read more

I don't live in town and this place came on good recommendation. I needed flowers for my mothers birthday. When I called to make the order they were very friendly and helpful. I needed the flowers delivered the next morning as my mother would only be home at that time. I was assured that this was no problem. The flowers were beautiful but on the small side for the price. You also have to pay a pretty steep delivery fee. Speaking of delivery! They did not show up in the morning so my mother never got her flowers that day. They were delivered in the afternoon after I made a call to Arenas. They were very apologetic and sincere. They had their boss call me later. All I can say is that Arenas might have still had a good place in my heart if he never called! He was very RUDE, could careless that my order was not taken care of, and had extreme attitude. Yep!
