Solid ok. I love Venezuelan food. I've had it cooked by my friends from Venezuela when they come visit. I've had it in restaurants. This one is ok. It's in a dying mall food court if that's a hint, I guess. The pabellon criollo with shredded beef wasn't as flavorful as I've been used to. The plantains were the best part. The tequeños were good, but the house sauce just tasted like mayo with no flavoring. The tres leches cake was ok. Maybe I'm spoiled by my previous experiences. read more

My oh my. Deliciius and worth the wait! The pork arepa was tender, plentiful and had good quality fresh cheese. The plantains were crisp and lightly salted to perfection. The green sauce that came with it was was fresh cilantro sauce that packed a lot of flavor but not heat. The passionfruit tea was very fruity but not kool aid sugar! Your food takes 10-15 minutes (there's a sign posted) but it's fresh and so worth the wait. If you have ever been curious about Venezuelan food 10/10 would recommend. read more

Great for the location. My husband wasn't a fan but growing up in Jersey - I thought it was good.

We had food delivered through doordash for lunch. First time having food from here and we were not disappointed! We did a large group order and all of our food was accurate and delicious. My arepa was phenomenal! The shredded beef was so tender and the plantains were a sweet surprise. And the spicy green sauce is the stuff of dreams. The arepitas were super tasty as well. The cheese on top was squeaky like a good cheese curd which was delightful. I cannot wait to have food from here again! read more

This place is in the Brookfield mall, so initially had my reservations (bc mall food), but our friends insisted we try it. MAN WAS IT GOOD. We tried a ton of food so here is a breakdown. Arepitas: These little guys might not seem like much, but they are good! Covered in cheese and served with their white zesty, creamy sauce and it was a solid choice. Great appetizer. 7/10 Cachapa: A cornbread-esque calzone filled with corn, cheese, and just the right amount of sweetness all covered in cheese. A favorite of both my wife and our friends. Get it. You won't be disappointed. 9/10 Sweet Plantains: I've had plantains before, but not sweet like this. These are amazing. I personally loved them. They are covered in cheese which is a +/- for me but even then, super good. 8/10 Pabellon Empanada: Pulled beef, savory beans, sweet plantains, cheese (naturally, everything here is packed with cheese ), all inside a delectable arepa. Savory, salty, sweet, flavorful, delicious. 10/10. A must buy. Reina Pepiada Arepa: Imagine a chicken salad of sorts but different. Shredded chicken in a light creamy dressing that avocado based all packed together with cheese into the arepa. A light summery feeling dish. 9/10 Rumbera Arepa: Bold and salty roasted pork, avocado, and cheese. Honestly my favorite meat that they have. I loved it and would buy again. 10/10 These dishes come with different sauces. There are 3 total and honestly you can't go wrong with any of them! Mix and match to try them all! Guasacaca is garlic and cilantro and their house sauce is more like a tomatillo. We got this through Door Dash so the cheese had cooled somewhat and stiffened up so if this food was still as amazing as it was through delivery, I can only imagine how good this place is when it's hot and fresh. My only critique is that price seems a little steep. But what can I say, I'm a simple man and like cheap food. REGARDLESS, it's owned and run by a Venezuelan family and I will always pay whatever cost for good food cooked by people who really know the cuisine. GO BUY THIS FOOD. read more

This unassuming food court restaurant has absolutely stunned me with their excellent food. I tried the pabellon arepa on a whim while my family was in the food court and was very impressed with the high quality ingredients as well as the bread. I've tried arepas at other restaurants before but I haven't been impressed usually because the bread is dry and mealy. This bread was excellent. I held off on posting a review until I could try it a second time and make sure this place was consistently good. The second time I came here I got the reina pepiada arepa as well as the shredded beef empanada. Both were absolutely excellent. This place is an absolute gem in the Brookfield area. Great place! More than you'd expect from a mall food court. We got the Pabellon Criollo Bowl with carnitas, La Catira, and a Chica. I had been wanting to try arepas for awhile, and this place was not a disappointment. Each item was delicious and felt restaurant quality. The carnitas in the Pabellon Criollo Bowl was juicy, and the fried plantains were so good. Crispy on the outside, soft and semi-sweet on the inside. The shredded chicken and gouda cheese in La Catira were so oozy and yummy. A little messy to eat, but not a problem at all. The Chicha reminded me of an horchata, but in smoothie form. Really light and refreshing! Definitely want to go again and try their other menu items. The owner said they offered desserts too, which weren't on the menu, so it would be nice to try one next time. read more

OMG! I was so surprised. I was not sure how I would like this as I never had this before. I have now ordered delivery several times. The food is not only consistently good, but it is fantastic! The Pabellon is my favorite. I could eat that almost every night of the week. It is also gluten friendly for those looking to cut down on wheat, as these are corn based products. The Caribbean Cheese is super yummy and the Rumbera (Pork) Arepa was tasty! Definitely get these. I had no idea it was in the mall. I will have to stop here next time I can shop! What a treat!! Had the food truck item, Arepa (LaCatira), at BrookOctober Fest. Think: Chicken and Cheese served similar to at gyros, but GF ! Big deal for us Celiacs. I got this through delivery service and it came fresh and ready to eat. The best part was the empanadas, savory and crunchy. The cachapa was too cheesy for me, endless cheese. The bowl criollo was tasty but my personal taste for Spanish rice is never to be pre-boiled, it's got a texture and taste I'm not fond of. The black beans I could taste some flavor but did not eat it. The meat was well seasoned and cooked.Their Nutella dessert was too creamy with the fried dough. Every item is made fresh to order so expect to wait 10 to 15 minutes for your order. We tried an arepa stuffed with cheese, chicken and avocado that was perfect. We also had a chicken platter with rice and plantains. I don't quite understand the pile of Gouda cheese but everything was delicious and fresh. We would definitely come back. Nice servers working the counter who prepared the meal while we watched. Everything looked very fresh. The sauce with the arepa was particularly delightful. We love having the arepas here. It is located in the food court of a mall so it is "fast" food. The arepas are delicious and mostly recommend those. The actually bread is tender and flavorful but the meat, especially the shredded pork, is so moist. My favorite is the rumbera with avocados but the original arepa with beef has more different flavors in it. I tried the fried pork plate with salad and plantains but the pork was dry. Savory plantains were very good. Expect to wait at least 10-15 min for your order because everything is cooked and assembled to order. We only come up this way once a year but always come here for the arepas. read more

I couldn't believe that I found this place in a suburban mall in Midwest America. I also most didn't try it as I didn't expect that I would get anything decent or authentic, but, throwing caution to the wind I tried it out, and I am glad I did. Great food a really good price. I had the Pabelion Arepa which combined shredded beef with black beans and sweet plantains, all topped with a great, creamy cilantro sauce. These things are messy so make sure you grab a fork and a ton of napkins, but when these taste this good, who cares!!! Unfortunately, I don't know how long this place will be around. The mall it is in seems to be dying, so make sure you get there and try them out before the whole place goes under. You won't regret it. read more

Really good and flavorful food here. I've had some arepas and some empanadas. It's great that they cook the arepas fresh because if you have any experience making arepas you know that the longer the cooked dough sits the worse the texture and taste will be. You simply can't cook them ahead of time. The arepas themselves (the corn bread) are a bit small for the amount of filling they stuff these things with if you want to have mess free eating experience in front of strangers in the food court. Make sure to grab plenty of napkins. I start off taking bites from the handheld sandwich but I always end up switching to using a combination of the flimsy plastic fork provided and my hands to keep it somewhat clean and classy. I like my arepa sandwiches with the spicy version of the guasacaca sauce. One is satisfying and two are filling. Three is possible, but would be pushing it for me. The empanadas are larger than the arepas and are also made of a type of corn based exterior- not the same dough as the arepas and definitely not like flour dough empanadas you get at every other place. These empanadas seem to be made with a slightly sweetened corn cake batter which is a delicious surprise. They are golden brown in color and very sturdy, despite being stuffed with juicy fillings. Two empanadas would be perfectly filling. I work in the area and if I decide to order delivery from one of those third party food courier services I would choose the empanadas over the arepas only because the empanadas would be less messy. However, I would most likely just drive to the mall for lunch so I can enjoy both. They are worth the drive. read more

Be mindful that it usually takes a few minutes to prepare because it is high-quality food compared to your usual food-court fare. I am always impressed by how good the food is. Delicious authentic Latin American food. Although this is in a mall food court, it is definitely a culinary destination in my opinion. The arepas are fluffy, delicious, and full of flavor (and butter). The sour cream they have is interesting and authentic, and the cilantro herb sauce is delicious. The cheese empanada was delicious and so full of cheese. It was also quite big (especially for the price). Lastly, I highly recommend that you try the passion fruit drink. It is so delicious and if I am passing by brookfield square mall for any reason I often stop by just for the drink. The staff (owners I presume) of this place add charm to it and make me want to come back. They are kind, hard working, and make delicious food! read more

We have been to arepas place twice now and it did not disappoint (again!)!!! Food court restaurants get a bad rap but this place is next level. We both got a rumbera arepa (roasted pork, avocado, and cheese) and a cachapa (sweet corn pancake with cheese). Amazing. I died and went straight to heaven. My family is from Colombia so we know arepas. I ordered a chicken one with Gouda and avocado, and was floored. It was one of the most exquisite arepas I've had in the US.
