She is from Peru and was very detailed in her explanations on all things relevant to our visit. She was great! We pondered the menu before choosing to go with the buffet which is not my typical move as I have my reservations about food safety at buffets but after inspecting it carefully, I chose to roll the dice. It was great roll of the dice. The food was fresh! Both the salad bar and the hot food offerings. It was all tasty! And it was unique to Peru. We sat down to enjoy our meal and after looking around I understood why the place 'felt' good. It was clean and well appointed. Not too many decorations or tables jammed together. There was space which is luxurious in my book. I liked the vibe. The window seals could use a cleaning but if that's all that I could complain about then were doing very good at La Huaca!

The last time I visited, I remember the locals there talking with the owners. Several saying that they are regular customers and how happy they were with the food. It's a fairly small restaurant at a strip mall off of Watt Ave. A cozy little place and the owners ( who speak Spanish ) are happy to serve you. You won't be disappointed with the food. The food is prepared well, great Caribbean flavor, and simply delicious.

We were happy to hear that his serving was temporary :). It was hot and fresh and absolutely delicious! My partner had the bean and cheese lunch and he loved it as well. The salsa was flavorful and mild. "Get the cheese cachapa, it's delicious and filling," she said. So I did, but I got one with shredded beef instead of cheese-only ($15). My cachapa - a Venezuelan sweet corn pancake filled with melted cheese - took about 10 mins to prepare, and it was thick and huuuuge! I changed my mind about eating it al fresco at one of the tables near the food truck, and took it back to the office instead. Back at the office, I ate the cachapa slowly, with the plastic fork and knife they'd thoughtfully provided. There wasn't much beef in it, and it was crisp, sweet and verrrrry filling.
