We had a very good dinner here. Service was friendly and quick. We had the Lomo Saltado, Tallarin Saltado and the shrimp and beef . The beef was very flavorful with good wok-fired flavor. The brought us a small complimentary dish of roasted peruvian corn which was fun to try. The restaurant is spacious.

Empanadas - they ate them before I could take a proper photo!

I drive by this place all the time and finally decided to give it a try. I made reservations for 6pm on a holiday Monday right after Valentine's Day for 3 people. This was the first time for all of us eating here and eating Peruvian cuisine. Service was 5+ STARS! Food 5 STARS! Options 3 STARS :( Yessy was our server. She was very friendly, took the time to make recommendations, explained what was in certain items, and checked on us frequently. We ordered more food than we needed solely because she made everything sound delicious. Her knowledge of the cuisine was outstanding. Top notch service! We ordered the following: APPETIZERS Yuca Relllenas - great subtle flavor. Dipping sauce was excellent. Trio de empanadas Pork - good Chicken - amazing Chorizo - super amazing Sauce was subtle but paired perfectly with Conchillas à la Parmesana- a tad small, cheese over powered the scallop, but still really good. Complimentary Fresh bread and chimmi churri sauce was also very good. ENTREES Lomo Saltado - meat was flavored perfectly and very tender Seco de Cordero - fell off the bone it was so tender. Probably the best choice of the night Lahuaca salad - passion fruit dressing was so light and perfectly sweet LACK OF OPTIONS This is partly our fault, going out the week after Valentine's Day. Several of the items we wanted they were out of. Seafood - nope. Chicken - nope. Desserts - nope. While there were other options in those areas, it seems like everything we first picked was not available. But, that just gives us a reason to go back. And we will be back!!

Heard about this place and have been dying to try it. First visit we came for dinner and was hooked! Every dish has unique/distinct flavors and every bite will have you craving more. We came for the week day lunch buffet for $20 and got to try more items. The Sunday night buffet is the 1 everyone raves about so this'll be our next visit!

I lost count of how many times I have been to La Huaca, even at their old location. My friendly server Yessy brought me a delicious beef soup as part of my meal. I had a diet Inka Cola, this soda tastes like bubblegum and cream soda. This time I ordered the "Tallarín Verde Con Lomo Saltado" ( Lomo Saltado with Green Noodles ), the Lomo Saltado was very flavorful, juicy and served without its usual fries and the Tallarín Verde was delicious and soaking up all juice. For an extra spiciness, I requested some Rocoto. It's a great way to enjoy Lomo Saltado and I recommend it.

The restaurant is so well decorated with many pieces representing Peru! They even have a mini store with Peruvian crafts and goodies. The food was really good and as good as it gets for Peruvian outside of Peru! I order lomo to any Peruvian restaurant I go to and this is one of my favorites. They are also improved their presentation of food which makes it look even better! This is my favorite Peruvian restaurant when in the capital region.

Amazing service and a very warm and welcome greeting. The atmosphere was so cozy , and our server was very sweet, informative, accommodating, personable, and very nice to chat with. thank you so much for such a lovely meal and even better service.

Came for a quick lunch on a Sunday. Interior is nice and spacious. We were sat quickly. Brian, our server, was very helpful. The options on the menu was a bit overwhelming. I ordered the Seco de carne con frijoles which was very tasty. My wife said it had the texture of birria. I also had the maracuyá to drink. My wife said she was going to order that next time. A bit pricey but worth it. We'll be back!

I wanted Peruvian food and found this place. It was last minute decision and no reservations needed. I thought the restaurant was clean and spacious. The decorations were eclectic still easy on the eyes. I gave this restaurant three stars because of the service. Our waiter was rude and not engaging at all. I felt like he was upset the entire time he served us. The food was good but because of the rudeness behavior I will probably not return.

Sunday buffet review: Drove 2.5 hours from our home to get a Peruvian restaurant. We came as they opened at 11:00 AM. Our family loved the food, the ambiance and the variety. The food was coming out hot and fresh as we arrived. Tip: At the end you need to request a free picaron, it is made to order. Also, no drinks included. Loved the ceviche, Lomo, pollo a la brasa and all the other dishes. So much to choose from.

    Chicha Morada (Purple Corn Drink)
    Jude A.

I had the purple corn drink (chicha morada) for my beverage. For my appetizers, I had the trio empanadas: beef, chicken, chorizo. I also enjoyed the yuca fries and the fried plantains. For my main entrée, I had the lamb shank, which was incredibly delicious, juicy, and tender. I also had the soup of the day (with chicken and veggies), which was off the chain as well.

FOOD - Arroz del Pacifico Sur: Peruvian paella. Rice with shrimp, calamari, scallops, carrots, peas and red bell peppers. This was very tasty. It's creamier and saucier than your typical paella. I ordered mine without clams and mussels. Huge portion. 4/5 SERVICE: Friendly and attentive. There's a little bit of a language barrier but we there were no hiccups. 4/5 FINAL THOUGHTS: I may come back and try other dishes. Prices are a little steep but the portions were big. The buffet is overpriced. There an island of salad/desserts and another island of food.

Over $30 for a meal that just have onions and tomatoes . I counted the pieces of meat and I counted 6 pieces . What a ripoff, never going back again . Server said oh well , sorry

Ask the Community - La Huaca Peruvian Cuisine

Two part question: Is the Sunday Criollo Buffet offered every Sunday, or just specific Sundays month? And how different is the Sunday Criollo Buffet from the Saturday Brunch Buffet in the food that's available? THANK YOU!!

Can you tell me if this restaurant is Dog friendly?

Yes, we offer dog-friendly seating both inside and outside!

How much the buffet on weekends?

Sunday is $36. Saturday was cheaper, twenty something. I personally go on Sundays because there's way more variety.

How much is the lunch buffet?

    $17 lunch buffet on weekdays.

Are they open already in the new location?

Yes, they're now open on Douglas Blvd.

Does the buffet have the popular dishes from the menu? Or what kind of food is served during the buffet? Thanks in advance!

Yes, it includes popular Peruvian dishes on the menu.

What do the vegan options include, and are they knowledgeable regarding vegan adjustments?

I wouldn't recommend this place to vegans, but they definitely accommodate gluten-free! They also have a couple vegetarian options (call to see if they can make vegan).

Is the buffet now every Sun? Worthwhile?

Its totally worthwhile for me and I would definitely suggest it if you haven't been before. You get a good cross selection of their different main dishes, sides, soups, ceviches, etc. Its more relaxed and fun too. It's $28. The cost is worth it…

Do they have a buffet day?

Yes, it's the first Sunday of each month.

    Do they have rocoto sauce?

They have a ceviche that is with rocoto

We ordered the cheesesteak rolls to start, and I had to try the popular Bubble Bliss drink. When the drink arrived, the waitress made the experience even more exciting by infusing the bubble right on top of it. Shortly after, our appetizer arrived. We were pleasantly surprised by how good the rolls were, as we weren't quite sure what to expect from a cheesesteak roll. When our entrées arrived, every single one of us enjoyed what we ordered, so we decided to share with one another. Our waitress was very attentive and made sure we had everything we needed throughout our visit. At the end of our meal, I was offered a complimentary birthday dessert, which was a thoughtful touch and a great way to end the evening. Overall, this restaurant is absolutely fantastic. From the beautiful decor that's perfect for taking selfies, to the delicious food and drinks, and down to the excellent service, we thoroughly enjoyed our time here. It's a great spot for a date night or to celebrate a special occasion!

We had the fried calamari appetizer and it was delicious, not greasy at all and had fried green beans and onions mixed in. Wife loved her grilled salmon entree. We both enjoyed our cocktails as well. Service was fairly good overall, although it took a long time before our server came to take our order and service was just all around slow. Very friendly though. Cons: My entree was not good. Ordered the pappardelle with short rib ragu. This was NOT a ragu as it is commonly known, it was more of a cream sauce with some meat in it. The pasta was swimming in cream. And I hate cream sauce. I never would have ordered it had the menu description said it was a cream sauce. The server offered to make me another entree but I did not want to wait another 30 minutes so I choked down what I had. Value is not good. The burger is $20, for example. Prices are a bit too high for the experience you are getting. Verdict: We may be back, as 2/3 of the food was quite good, they just failed on my pasta dish. But it's pricey, so who knows. Moderate recommendation.

The lobster bites came with a lemon wedge and their house Thousand Island sauce, and that sauce was incredible. The combination of the crispy lobster, lemon, and sauce worked perfectly together. The broccolini was also seasoned really well and paired nicely with the grilled lemon. I ordered an Old Fashioned, and it was one of the smoothest I've had. One detail I loved was that they stamped the restaurant's logo into the ice cube. Small touch, but really cool. For my main course, I ordered the Grilled Huli Huli Chicken with a crispy rice cake, pineapple, greens, and a house sauce that completely made the dish. The sweet and tangy flavor paired perfectly with the chicken. Me and my girlfriend also shared the mac and cheese, and honestly, this was one of the best mac and cheeses I've had. It was rich, creamy, well-seasoned, and the breadcrumbs on top added the perfect texture. My girlfriend ordered the braised short rib with garlic mashed potatoes and carrot purée. The short rib was so tender it practically fell apart with a fork. Everything on the plate was delicious. One thing that surprised me was the portion sizes. Everything was very filling, and we ended up taking some food home. By the time dessert came around, we were already pretty full, but there was no way we were skipping it. To finish the night, we shared the Ghirardelli triple chocolate brownie with vanilla ice cream, caramel sauce, and strawberries. It was the perfect way to end the meal. The restaurant was busy and lively, but it never felt crowded. The tables were spaced out really well, so my girlfriend and I could still enjoy our conversation and watch the basketball game. I also appreciated seeing Chef Q and his wife walking around and checking on guests throughout the night. They stopped by tables to see how everyone was enjoying their food, which was a really nice touch. I even had the chance to take a picture with Chef Q before we left, which was super cool. Between the food, service, atmosphere, and attention to detail, this is easily one of the top restaurants I've been to in Sacramento. Definitely worth a visit.

It was a new place for all of them, but I've been here (and the previous location) multiple times. The food has always been good and I enjoy the creative menu. As expected, everyone enjoyed the food this night as well! I had the Beef Wellington, something I rarely see on menus... so when I DO see it, it's usually on my short list. It was excellent. The broccolini was great too (it was the veggie I chose). And... the carrot cake! Bravo! I love a great carrot cake. The unfortunate negative for us? And I hate to even mention this, but it was definitely a thing for us... the musician, whom I LOVED for his talent and music... was just too loud for us. Not sure what to suggest on that. We enjoyed the music, but we couldn't hear anything else. We couldn't hear each other... we couldn't hear the waiter more often than not... the horn (clarinet) just blasted us out. We weren't RIGHT next to him, we were a couple tables away... but the same side of the room as him. In the future, I'll try to be seated further away if I'm with a group that wants to talk. I'll be back... but maybe after I take an ASL course.

We celebrated Mrs. K's birthday yesterday with our first visit ever to Fleming's, and it was a…read morehappy choice. Fleming's has a lot going for it, though we found that along with some great hits, there were also significant misses. One of Fleming's definite strengths is what I would call the "feel" of the experience. From the impressive entryway with its see-through wine bottle walls to the welcoming, friendly interactions with everyone we met, we felt good about being there. The message was that great things were to come. The lengths that Fleming's goes to in making a special occasion feel celebratory are terrific. The hostess who seated us mentioned it; it carried through with decorations across the tablecloth, then a picture taken of us and presented in a frame. Even a complimentary glass of champagne, and a complimentary dessert at the end of the meal - nobody makes a special occasion feel as special as Fleming's succeeds in doing. Our server, Roman, is a first-class server who contributed to our happy experience. Roman is a terrific guy with experiences to share and the ability to guide us through the meal. Not once did we ever have to wonder where our waiter was, and we felt like he was in charge and available whenever we needed him. At various times, managers came over to check on everything, but always in an unobtrusive and brief visit. Great personnel throughout. But I do have to keep it real: with the food, there were both hits and misses. The single biggest miss was the seafood tower, which by itself, I would give no more than a 2/5. The crab is snow crab, not king crab, and the pieces of crabmeat were minuscule. They were so tiny that there could not have been more than an ounce of actual crab outside the shells, and it was not pleasurable to eat. The shrimp were impressively large and properly peeled, but they were overcooked and a bit too tough. The two pieces of lobstertail were also overcooked and not particularly fresh-tasting. The other misses were the pork chop and the asparagus. The pork chop was impressive in its presentation, but too dry to be enjoyable. Some of it near the bone was better, but most of it wasn't to my liking and wasn't eaten. The asparagus was totally off, tough and chewy. But they noticed we hadn't eaten it, and without any request from us, they removed it from the bill. And, there were definite hits. My wife loves good scallops, and she said Fleming's scallops were delicious. The onion rings were among the best we've ever had. Both desserts were excellent. The carrot cake was good, but the brownie was even better, served with ice cream and whipped cream. I always think brownies are too rich and dense, but Fleming's brownie is light and so chocolatey-good. Fleming's gets a ton of 5-star reviews, and I have no problem recommending it. In fairness to Fleming's, they do hold themselves out to be first and foremost a "prime steakhouse", and we did not have steak. My first choice, actually, was a cap steak, a spectacular cut of meat that's very hard to find on any restaurant menu. But they were out of it that day. For a special occasion, Fleming's is a no-brainer, and the overall experience is one you will enjoy. Go for it.

Our server greeted us right away and was very sweet and attentive. You could tell she was still in training, but everything went smoothly. The only small thing I would suggest is having more napkins at the table, since we were only given one per plate and ended up needing a few more during the meal. We had originally reserved a tatami table, but quickly realized it wasn't the best fit for our group since we had some older people with knee pain. Just a heads up, the tatami seating does not have recessed flooring. Luckily, we were able to adjust to a regular table. Once we were settled, we looked through the menu and ordered a double toro roll, a wagyu roll, and a dinner bento with unagi-don. Happy to report everything we ordered was delicious! The double toro was very fresh and refreshing, and the wagyu roll had a rich, savory flavor that reminded us of a yummy steak. We enjoyed every bite. I was especially impressed with my bento box. The presentation was beautiful and the portions were very generous. The bento came with steamed egg, a fresh garden salad, assorted tempura, and unagi-don. Everything in the box tasted great. The tempura was light and crispy, and the unagi was savory and satisfying with egg ribbons in the rice. I think it might be one of the best bento boxes I've had in a long time. Overall, we had a great experience at Azayaka Japanese Fusion. The food was delicious, the service was warm, and we would definitely come back to try more dishes.

First, I want to say the chef was younger, but he put alot of care and effort into each dish, so he should definitely be acknowledged. However, as soon as we walked in, there was no greeting from both of the female servers, only cold stares. Many servers do not give great service to younger tables and assume they won't tip. This occurred throughout our dining experience and we didn't feel welcomed at all. Our table also wasn't the biggest and there was no pre-bussing done to clear our dining space. Also, as a recent graduate, I brought my cap to receive a $15 gift card for their promotion. Instead, she gave a "neighborhood" discount (10% off which made it $10 off). I didn't mention anything since I did not feel like coming back to this location. Then I looked at the receipt, wrote a 20% tip, but this was where I felt scammed. It's difficult to explain and I wish I took a picture, but please check your math on the suggested tip. Total with discount: $98 Previous Total: $108 Suggested Tip: 20% = $20 and Suggested Total: $128 I don't mind tipping $20, but the suggested total would include a $30 tip? I don't know if it's intentional and the server wanted to pocket the discount as her tip, but it did not feel fair. We had two younger kids with us and I didn't want them to notice, so we just left after paying. We been to the Sacramento location many times, but their Roseville location was disappointing. Horrible service.

Had the cowboy ribeye and was a bit disappointed. The cut itself was very sinew-y and had large chunks of fat hanging off that needed to be trimmed or reduced in the prep portion. Flavor was OK. Drinks were solid - plenty of beer, wine, and cocktails with a good variety and good balance.

I ordered the Thai Noodle Wagyu sirloin salad & my steak was very tough & gristly plus a little too rare than I liked so I shared a few of those pieces with my wife. She also agreed gristly which is a big no-no for her too. My wife had the salmon over rice & broccolini which she paid extra bc she's not a fan of cooked spinach. Her plate was very hot which kept her salmon warm to eat which was a huge plus. She definitely needed the steak knife to cut the broccolini. She was much happier with her dish more so than I was with my dish. But she felt her salmon wasn't too memorable taste wise. Our server was great & the ambiance of the restaurant was nice. We sat in a booth in the back of the restaurant. I doubt if we would return though.

Right when you walk in, everyone was friendly and welcoming. It was a busy Saturday evening, but we were seated pretty quickly. Our waitress was also so friendly, and our food came out FAST and piping hot! In our past experiences at other crab boil restaurants, it can take forever just to get a table, let alone get your food. So we really appreciated how quickly everything came out here! Now, THE FOOD! My hubby and I both got the Dungeness crab with the mild Cajun & garlic butter seasoning. It came with potatoes and corn, and we also added a side of rice and the Cajun fries. The seasoning was SO good! It had plenty of flavor without being overly salty. The crab was delicious and cooked perfectly. And those Cajun fries?! They were super crispy and seasoned to perfection! The only thing I would have changed was that we weren't given any crab crackers or tools to help us get into the crab. We actually thought they didn't have any at first. We later asked and were provided with some, but it would have been nice if they were offered or brought out with our gloves and bibs since we ordered crab. Other than that, I really enjoyed our experience! I especially loved that the restaurant has a more relaxed atmosphere compared to some other crab boil spots. The seats were comfortable, the music wasn't extremely loud, and it still had a fun vibe while being quiet enough for us to actually have a conversation. Overall, I'm giving Captain Crab a 10/10! We'll definitely be back!

With only 6 nights notice, I sent a late night email hoping for the best. The next morning Margaux called me with an incredible menu tailored for 250 guests that fit perfectly within our budget. Their flexibility is unmatched. They even accommodated a last minute bump of 50 extra guests just 2 nights before the event! The setup was highly professional, the service was organized, and the food was absolutely delicious. Best of all, our parents, family and coaches were thrilled with the experience. Brian, Margaux, Tye, and the entire team - thank you so much for making our event a success. We cannot wait to work with you again!

The first time, she thought her burger was delicious. So, we came back a couple more times. However, every following visit has left us underwhelmed. For my wife, the burger was never as good again. I attributed the first time to her feeling super hungry which made it taste better. For me, the food has always just been okay. The prices are too high for me to justify going for just okay-at-best food. Aside from that, the service was mostly good. The worst experience we had was just waiting a long time past what was told.
