I was meeting a friend for lunch and she told me she would be waiting at this adorable little bakery located across from Irving Mall behind On the Border (not too visible from the street). There is a close Starbucks that I'm sure blocks some of their traffic, but go on to the back - it's totally worth it. We ended up staying there way too long - she loved the coffee and we both indulged in a small box of our top 6 cookies and pastries. They were great about making her another variety box so she could bring it home to her elderly mother. We both got the empanadas and they were great. They could have used a bit more filling, but all-in-all the spinach was made notably fresh. The chicken had the most flavor. She loved the beef and egg (lots of beef, not much egg). Later, her husband joined us because - again - she just a need a "meet us there" place. Because this place is right next door, and even sharing a patio with, an Half Price Books, we strolled in with lotsa guilty but cheap purchases and plenty to talk about. We sat there for a couple of hours while her husband tried all the empanadas he could afford. This place is adorable - quiet ambiance and too much sweet stuff to choose from. In the end, I spent over $20, but it was too much fun to miss. I'm not a coffee drinker, but my friend certainly took advantage of their seemingly unlimited coffee. I randomly went in this place after going to a store next to it. Wow is all I can say. This place is amazing. I am a coffee fan, usually get strong espresso kinds. For the most part coffee is coffee unless its obviously just a bad cup. But holy cow. this place's coffee is by far amazing. I was in shock that I was so shocked how great it is. This place is a little hidden gem. You wouldn't know it from looking at the outside, and might just pass it by, but don't! Some of the best empanadas I've had, the pastry was so soft and buttery and the fillings were delicious. There are also tons of pastries, cookies and cakes. I was surprised by how busy it was. There isn't a ton of seating inside so not great if you have a ton of people. You'll definite want to stop in for a snack and end up leaving with a whole box of empanadas. I think I spent close to a $100 here the first time I went. I walked in with my husband and 2 kids. Grabbed a few things to try (it was my daughter's Bday and we wanted to spoil her a little bit). Well, we went back to the counter 3 more times and ended up leaving with a dulce de leche cake for her bday. BTW, not a single crumb was left over that night. We tried pretty much 3-5 of everything in the sweets cases and 2 small meat pies. Not a fan of the meat pies but Good Lord their sweets are amazing. I gotta go back and get some coffee next time. This has been on my list to try forever, and I finally went! A lot of things I couldn't pronounce, but the lady was nice and I dealt with my pointing. I tried a bunch of random things and they were all very delicious. The mayan mocha was also very good! I dipped my palmeritas in it and they were so fantastic. My first time here. I been wanting to try them for a long time. I ordered hot chocolate with two empanadas. One chicken and one beef. And I had to try a dessert and I went with the Tres Leches with strawberry filling. I really enjoyed the empanadas. You can truly taste the freshness and all the seasonings add to the meat. The empanadas were hot when served which was a plus. The crust of the empanadas was very light and had good taste. The hot chocolate was very light with little sugar which I prefer it that way. I really enjoyed it. Now the dessert, Tres Leches with strawberry filling was super dry and you can tell it was not fresh. This cake had been in refrigerator for more than a few days. The strawberry filling tastes like medicine. I wish the filling would of been made with real strawberries.The frosting was thick and stale. I would definitely like to give this place another shot with the desserts. The slice of cake was $4.29 a little on the expensive side for me specially for a piece of cake that was stale. Some of the best pastries we have found in Dallas. We stopped to get a variety of cookies for a get together. We went with some of each of the traditional style cookies on the top shelf of the center display case. Everyone loved them, even the guy in our group who is suspicious of anything he is unfamiliar with. While there, we couldn't resist the chicken empanadas. The crust and filling were both perfect. The filling had just enough spice to male it really flavorful but not overwhelming. I'm getting hungry thinking about them. Trust the girl behind the counter. My wife and I came to the bakery on a Saturday morning in March. The location is very unassuming. Located in a strip mall we feared a "fast food" experience, but we can happily say this place has all the charm and quaintness of an artisan coffee shop. We tried each flavor of their empanadas and were delightfully impressed! The beef and chicken flavors were our favorites and were looking for more once we had finished. The staff was very friendly and wonderful. We sat in their super comfortable chairs and enjoyed our delicious coffee and watched a steady stream of customers for the better part of the morning. Ok, this place has a special spot in my heart. After moving here a year ago, this was the first even remotely endearing business I found. I am still exploring the various sweet pastries, but I love the tres leches cake and the cream puffs. They also have cupcakes and cake-balls for when I'm not feeling adventurous. I would highly suggest having labels and prices for ALL of the desserts in the glass fridge (not just 2) to avoid the long wait of each customer asking what the dessert is and how much THEN trying to decide what to order As the customer behind them is going to do the same thing, it would speed up the long lines and the staff repeating themselves. Also, the tres leches in a cup and empenadas are a hit and they tend to run out or not have them ready "yet" a few times I've been there throughout the day, it would be a good idea to have the Extras ready for when you run out daily. The brisket empanada is really good. I could probably eat a whole bunch of them, but I don't think they are that healthy for you! The pastry that went around the meat was melt in your mouth and the brisket had a lot of seasoning. I'll be back to try more empanadas. read more

This place is super cute and a perfect place to lounge on a sat afternoon in their huge comfy chairs. They offer a variety of treats so lot to choose from. But having said that I was less than impressed with their baked sweets. We got couple of different cookies and a piece of cake. They all felt a little too dry to me. I never had Argentine treats before so not sure if that's how they are supposed to be. Reading the other yelp reviews I feel like I should give them another chance but I certainly won't be rushing to go back there. I am giving this place 2 stars for the concept and ambiance. read more

Neat little place to lounge around. (3.5 Stars) Pastries were pretty but unfortunately not all of them were tasty. The latte was a bit bland, and iced mocha was too sweet. However, the atmosphere was relaxed and you had shelves of south american baking goods along the wall, and an interesting assortment of baked sweets to try. Besitos and Lenguas. Both Ducle de leche filled, but I think the round besitos had a tiny hint of jam in them too. Their dulce de leche wasn't extremely too sweet like some places, and it had a nice consistency that doesn't just flow out of the pastries. The Honey cookies sandwiched with the stuff was also quite yummy. They were soft, a little bit chewy, and dulce de leche rounded it nicely. I think it was called alfajore? The Tres Leches was dry, although it looked so good. We ended up not finishing most of it, despite hating to waste food. The palmiers were a bit dry and i don't recommend it. Wish I had room for empanadas but yelp did say Empa Mundo was nearby. Had their star shaped sweet bread, as well as the one shaped like a little croissant, and they were slightly sweet, and soft enough, but not anything you can't get from other bakeries. Basically the dulce de leche desserts are the best ones and harder to find elsewhere. Cool place to relax if I lived a bit closer. read more
